Title: Flight 93
Post by: cav58d on April 04, 2006, 07:24:30 PM
It is being reported that some Americans are feeling duress over the trailer for the movie "Flight 93" and some are advocating the movie be boycotted and pulled from theaters!

This has got to be the biggest load of BS I have heard in years!  In my opinion footage of 9/11 should be shown on television, and in the class room every day.  We are so quick to forget, and it disgusts me!  In the short time they had left, the hero's of flight 93 accomplished more in 125 minutes then the pacifist in a lifetime.  I say BRING ON THE MOVE!  Make us remember!  Make us proud of the heros on Flight 93 that fought back and launched the first attack against the enemy in the war on terror

I am in awe of their bravery

Who is saying the movie should be boycotted?  And why?

Edit: Holy cow, here's a link: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=16900172&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=u-s--outrage-over-9-11-movie-trailer--name_page.html

Complete agreement here.
People just want to forget.
BS
We should never ever forget.
I dont know about every day as we might become too used to it.
Perhaps once per month though and perhaps showing more and more of the grotesque footage the media wouldnt air because it was so grotesque.
We should be shocked and outraged and remain so.

That being said I have no problem with the Making and showing of the movie itself.
The only problem I might have is the movie studios making money off of it.

Then again maybe not. What better way to flip the bird at the types of people that were responcable for 9/11,Those who applauded it and those who would try to do it again then to show them that we can take the worst negative thing. Their most Crippling  blow, Their best shot at us and find a way to make a profit off of it

I couldn't care less about causing duress. I'm boycotting the movie because it'll be BAD.

I just saw the trailer.
Looks interesting

Aside from the trailer I saw a behind the scenes clip where the makers of the movie claim they went to the families of those on flight 93 to see how they felt about making a movie of it. And according to them. The families were all for it.

If thats the case.
thats good enough for me

I think the trailer looks good too...I have a lot of respect that this project os sanctioned by the family members of the heroes.  10% of opening weekend profits will be donated to the memorial.  I'll be honest, I wish more if not all would be donated but still...If the movie opens like "ice age II" or bigger and makes 70 mil, thats still an additional 7 mil thats going into the memorial.....

Why do you think this movie will be bad?  It is claiming to be the best representation of the actual events that happened that day.  Whats bad about that?

Are these the same kooks put off at the gruesome-ness of the Mel Gibson Jesus movie?

I like how Universal refused to tone down the movie or trailer.  It is what it is, kudos to them for sticking to their guns

Trailer looks good.

Folks damn well ought to be disturbed. I fly commercial a lot for a living and hardly get on a plane without thinking about it....thinking about my family as well. Had just landed in France on 9/11 for a business trip.

They ought to realize that there are terrorists in this world right now very likely planning or in the long term stages of executing something even worse in the USA.

Does anyone here really doubt that? Probably not, but it's amazing the number of folks that hide their head in the sand.

I don't predict weather. I do predict movies, and I did see the trailer for this one.  Controversy makes for a lot of ticket sales and media hype, but in no way guarentees a good movie.  A movie based heavily on speculation of what we'd like to think happened is nothing more than a cinematic circle-jerk for people still trying to convince themselves that "our cause is just."

Hes right though? Unless its a documentary the movie will be 90% pure speculation extrapolating a moment counted in seconds out to an hour and half.

Even a documentary will be mostly speculation.

But for every few "Pearl Harbors" there's a "Tora Tora Tora".

Let's wait to see which this is.
