for 3 years. :o
I have never been able to get the terrain right in the TE (i am talking just the terrain, no bases)
but here is the concept. the zones aren't perfect, just a starting point. the elevations are in the legend, but i want to clarify, the "mountians" are scattered in those hig areas enough that you can go between them, sort of like on trinity, i just wanted some pretty hill type things to look at while flying ;)
some basic info:
each country has 73 total bases.
4 CV's
4 Ports
14 GV bases
27 Small
18 Medium
6 Large
(sorry for the large pic, but wanted to make sure the details showed)

any thoughts, comments, or sugggestions?

bummer i was hoping to see what more people thought of it, but day almost done, and no internet for the weekend.
even if you think it sucks, at least tell me and why.

I like the idea, but your bases seem to be spaced at 1 sector to 1.5 sectors apart, with a few close ones here and there.
It looks like there are some areas where, once the close fields are all captured there will be a lot of long distance flying. Especially the top right corner just north of the two zone bases. Same on bottom right and same for whole right edge of the map.
I would also put the bases closer to the zones as well, then they could be defended better. Right now, by the time the vulch sets in you dont have any close bases to up and get back to defend.
Fill in some of that no mans land and it could be a winner.

thanks.
those far out bases were meant for the milk runners NOE and mission guys. they would be like those rear bases on trinity.
i was trying to emulate elements from my favorite maps. the center is supposed to be a mini NDISLES, the medium belt was to be MINDANAO, and the outter a cross between AKDESERT canyons and TRINITY's mountainous areas.
i could shrink the circle a bit, and tighten the bases, i just know what Dale said about bases 3/4 a sector apart minium.
i plan on tweaking it this weekend maybe, and see what i come up with.

Dude,
I thought that you never flew in Air Warrior????? Remove the island in the pond and call the countries A, B & C, and hey, we were there.
Nice work though, WTG!
(i used to fly C, and was CZHSE, short for Crazy Horse, back then)

More small fields. Too much open space, IMO, in the center area. Needs either some small and med fields ringing the central expanse of water, or maybe more islands with airfields thrown in there. If the land bases got porked, that'd force a couple of choke points in the center.
I know that I hate frac more than any map I've ever flown on, and that's due mostly to being forced to fly 50 or 75 miles at times to get to the next airfield. I lack the patience to spend most of time in transit to a fight.
Looking at this map, that's the only concern I have.

Although im not subscribed, I like your little "island" idea. Makes me think of Pearl Harbor.... Oh the days of good ol' Pearl Harbor, when Raptor01 ruled the world of Terrains with his Pearl Harbor map.... *COUGH* Excuse my daydreaming please!

what do the different colors on the map represent?

the "home territory" of the different countries.
red, yellow, and blue.
thanks for the replies folks, next week I'll post another shot of a different base layout.

Nice Job ... :aok
Here is my input ...
Make the center water area bigger in diameter ... those CVs will be dropping like flys every 15 minutes.
While making the water area bigger, it will allow you to easily compress some of the spacing that you have between the bases on the land masses.
-
More fields. By what you saying that all bases between 5-7k and some 20k I think is to high. This will mean some will be up above 30k. More 0k bases less high alt bases.
-
One of the things I noticed was that the water channels have very few bases adjacent to the water, rendering most of the CV action to attacking inland bases. They would have few oppurtunities for taking, defending, or resuppling bases.
I think the distance mentioned earlier is also somewhat long between some bases. Patience is a virtue, except when you are in a hurry. lol
Also, maybe the placement of the HQs may need to be adjusted.
Looks good for a basic draft with a little tweaking. Good job.

3/4 is good enough. I agree some fields for the milk runners, but don't put them in the middle where most of the action would be.
CAn't wait to see version 2

My Thoughts exactly... Haven't we been here before?

What do the different tones of color represent?
I see 3 shades of red. :)

different altitude sections....
someone else asked about the base altitudes, at the highest point the highest base would have a runway altitude of 6 or 7K. there would just be big hills and mountians between the bases.
as far as the HQ's they are there because if you do make it back to that area with a CV you can SHELL HQ with the CV guns.
as far as AW, sorry nope never played. is it a good or bad thing this is similar as some of you say?

One other thing is the lack of GV spawn points towards the interior of the regions. To have a few that would spawn out into the interior would be a good thing not only for offensive fights but defensive as well just in case one country trys a deep raid and gets a rear area base.
-
Concur with Reschke on the vehicle spawns. Although this looks like a lot of fun for the flyers, the GVrs could use some more spawn point. (I like to do both). Other than that, looks pretty good.
