Man I was trash talking this guy in the arena and he told me to go to DA. So I was like ok no big deal. Man I just picked a plane and 3 times in a row he flat out whooped me badly. I thought this game only took a little bit to learn but I was wrong. This guy is a pretty good damn pilot or maybe its because I suck or maybe both. I guess I have to go back to the drawing board and study film again. I learned my lesson for today. Dont talk trash to a person unless his kill/death ratio is a 0.019483. JK, I wont even talk trash anymore. That guy muzik flat out took me to school. You are the man Muzik. :aok
-
Yup, Muzik is good. I like soft rock myself.
Oh and the barney soundtrack:p
-
yeah revor, far more to this game than the silly main arena dweebs.
there's a core of pilots that are far better than the average noob in the MA. unfortunately, since the neutering of the DA, it's been a while since i had a really great fight:(
it'll take you years to actually get 'good' at this game. the learning curve is very steep at the beginning, but is also a very long line:cool:
-
My hats off to a guy who actually was humble enough to tell all the results of a DA challenge!

Ask the trainers :). They are ALWAYS very helpful with everything..... :t
Yes, Revor, this game has a steep learning curve until youre avarage and can at least beat up some noobs. Then the real learning process starts, the fine tuning of the "powers" takes years i guess. And i bet if you ask the oldtimers, theyll tell you youre never done learning.
Last night, i was fighting an old friend in the TA.... got whipped pretty well. But what was most noticable to me was: Its the little things that make a fight, make it win or loose. All those minute nuances, you can only learn with stick time, and open mind, reading and lots of fighting (better or even skilled) pilots.
-
I have run into muzik a few times, he is invinvable in the la7, and i remember him being very good in the p38 as well.
-
Muzik is a great stick been in my squad for a while. Never da him but it looks like i need too. One of those guys that can go into a sector at 5k and kill them all....
-
Pwnin Noobs all over the place. (http://www.purepwnage.com/)

Revor and I were actually having a discussion about the learning curve in the game late last night.
I hope one day someone will challenge me to go to the DA. Thats how I know I'm either being a huge jerkass or some guy wants to see how awesome I am.

you been around long enough to know that true l337-ness is only measured one way. being labled as a cheater :aok

I made my first trip to the DA last night and got whooped by someone who I won't mention the name. He knows who he is. Personally I really enjoyed going to the DA against someone that was clearly better then me. It's the best way to learn IMO. I can't believe I've been playing a year and never DA'd!. One soul who I would like to DA is YUCCA. Man, that guy owns me although I have had a little more luck with him recently.:D
I think I've watched more recordings of me getting whooped then any other trying to figure out how they do some of that stuff. So, if your a fellow that see's this: SYSTEM: You just shot down Bucky73....often and you feel like doing the DA thing let me know. I said OFTEN! I know everyone has seen this at one time.:lol
Thanks
Bucky:aok
-
Well, Bucky... you know... theres a trick for getting Yucca in the DA for a fight or two.......................... ....... ASK HIM :).
And anytime you want to, im always game for some 1 vs 1, be it DA or TA. I cant tell you if i shot you often, i have a VERY short memory for things like that. If youre interested, just call me on it when you see me online.
-
yeah guys, just ask. i'd be happy to go DA with anyone:aok
even with the killshooter off, it's still the best and fastest way to learn
-
Takes about a month to get good. Now the the DA is gone, it may take a little longer.

yeah i always thought of the DA as the best place to learn. it's still possible with KS on, but it really does mess it up:rolleyes:
-
The problem is not killshooter. The problem is that you can't just pop in and fight diff players for a couple of hours. Do that for a month and you will be 'good'. Now you can't do that since you have to go with apointment only, and only fight one guy, one stile, and get bored fast.

Yeah, but since we can't just go and meet there, lets make an apointment first. :cry

Dont forget that many have been dogfighting online back into the early 90's to late 80's, pre-dating AH by a number of years. Muzik has been flying at least 8 years if not longer. Even though fight models in sims have changed dramatically over the years, the fundamental ACM's dont...and experience is a great teacher.

Seconded.

Muzik is fun to fight, especially P38L vs P38L. We use to go at it in H2H and refered to each other as our arch nemesis, even though it was all in good fun. First few times I fought him I killed him the first 3 times, I thought it would continue like that. Then he surprised me and beat me a couple times, I got him, etc.
Gotta love those duels that last a long time, both leave with damage and the same person does not win every time.
The TA can be fun, me and a squadie went there and just fought for 5 minutes straight.
-
Revor No hard feelings. This game does have a large learning curve and like Murdr said, I have been playing for bout 8 years. And to be honest I used to talk a little trash to get duels too. :) But if I ever got as nasty as you did that night, it was with someone who STARTED talkin trash like you did that night. Otherwise I just asked. :D Simple huh?
I probably dueled more than I played in the arena then. Its a great learning tool, but not for everything. And I'd be happy to go again with ya some time. I might even be nice to ya.;)
Thx for the compliments all. And FX1 I cant wait to go. :)
And the only guys I know that got good at this game in a month cant fly anything but spit v's. Just like dedalos :rofl
And Raptor01, are you a "spindoctor" by profession? Very Subtle. :D

I mustve missed something there.... WHO got spanked? :lol
>S< Ruminant! Had a great time fighting you again!
BTW, to all those that miss the old DA green vs green...... TA can do that just as well. Fight till auger or just call "gk" and level off if you think you suffered mortal damage.

LoL, ok i understand that. But since im the one that bites the tree usualyl anyway - not much of a difference to me doing that in the TA or in the DA.
What i would like to see are more "vets" in the TA for "advanced fighting practicing". No scheduled stuff, just logging on, look whos there, roll for a fight or two or more. Kind of like the old DA used to be.
That way the TA would be less of a "daycare center" and "newbie only". I sometimes miss some advanced learning there (besides scheduling sessions with a trainer) - im talking about 20 mins warmup before going MA, or just logging on for a fight or two.

I can try but I know I will get bored fast. It is a game and that means, there is no fun in it without being competitive. At the end of the fight you want to know if you won or lost. You will have a bigger problem with the 303s. How will you know if you killed me? Practice is fine but it gets boring without the competing factor.
Plus, hearing the sound of some guy with a latin name (Infested I think he goes by now?) exploding is priceless :D

Hey, if you are not doing anything important tonight, maybe we can meet by that field on the right side of the map and kick some HQ arse for a couple of hours?
Anyone care to join us? We start 10K and on the count of three we dive our LANCs. First one to auger missing HQ wins

Agreed, the TA's great for practice... You go in there with a bud and just shoot the crud out of each other. You don't even have to type "gk" or break off, just keep on going. It's a whole lot easier to get in some practice dodging shots if you can keep flying after the first one you screw up then if you can't.
DA's fun too, and good practice as well, but you just can't get as much out of an ammo load in there.
Once my PC's back up and running (been in shop for a few weeks so who knows when lol) I'd like to get in there with you. I haven't flown for a few months and need to figure everything out again.

yup I miss the old DA:furious I have not been there once since they changed it:furious Hey AirVent sup bud:D I miss them fights we used to have:cry

I'd not been to the TA for some time, for reasons outlined....but I've been gettgin some GREAT pickup training there in the past week. Just show up, look for a trainer guy (thanks TC, Murdr, Badboy, Widewing) or an experienced vet (like BatfinkV or Infestus/bovidae) and have at it.
When I see his gunmuzzles, i know he had a kill shot even if he doesnt pull; We can eother keep going or reset. For interest sake, I consider taking hits first to mean I lost -- but in TA I get to keep going, without interruption. 'Course at my level there've been whole sessions where I didnt get to clear my guns, but hey...it'll improve!
If there's nobody there except the zip codes, I may hang around to help out where I can, or head to AvA or MA as the mood strikes.
-
Yeap his good.
I'v had A go at turn fighting his P51-D in A Tempest, it was far from 1 sided, but he did have the upper hand.
