Title: How do you become a trainer?
Post by: Revor on April 11, 2006, 10:10:22 AM
Its not for me but I know two people, Schatzi and Pooface who would make excellent trainers. These two are in the training arena a lot more than the other trainers and love the game as much as everyone else. They know their stuff pretty good and I think that they would be excellent canidates as trainers.

I think "good"would be in the eye of the beholder on this issue.
From what I have seen of the noobs entering the game as of late, they need someone that is "good" with the basics to show them the way.

Man why do you have to be that way? That wasnt even called for. They know the basics of flying and have a good time of teaching it. If you know the basics and the laws of flying then that's all you need to teach the newcomers. They know how to take off, land, elevator trim, rudder control, basic manuevers etc and they are good people and teach very well. That's all you need and imo they are good pilots. You dont have to be like that man. You can have an opinion but  at least be professional about it.

I just notice the JG26 and you must be Lute. Go figure. Those two that I have mentioned about are always helping out members of the community with whatever questions people asked. They have fun helping others out and that's what counts. Yeah you may be one of the best pilots in the game Lute but why the arrogant attitude man? Even if you are kidding that's very unprofessional for such a great pilot like yourself.

erm, since the KS went on, noone really goes in there. i only go in if there is someone to fight. which is usually only when you ask in the MA for some people to fight. im on tonight if you wanna go. anyone else wanna come? i was thinking of logging on around 8 or 9pm (BST at the moment) if you wanna DA with me

would be cool to get some other guys along too, have a mini furball:aok

yeah, back to the topic of the thread, i can only say good things about schatzi, she does deserve a place on the team:aok

and while i wouldnt mind being a trainer, i dont mind if i am or not. it's just a name, and i dont need a name to help people in the TA. i do it anyway, and i think schatzi deserves it more. im a little more of a wildchild:lol schatzi is always far more collected and organised in there than i am. trainers decisions though. i am very thankful for the compliment though:aok

FARs have nothing to do with Aces High. Also, I think Schatzi falls under JAA, but I could be wrong.

I'm sure this is just tongue in cheek, as a brief look at any of the trainers shows an extensive background and contribution to the game.  Some aren't so active at times, but there's real life this and that.

That said, to get back to the earlier nomination, I'm positive if those two keep it up for a few years consistently (I bet they will), they'll definately be wearing that tag someday.  Great people, and great helpers! :aok

I are teh confus3d.  Are you saing that willing to do it, liking teaching others, giving up your time to help others, is not enough?  You need some kind of special achievent in order to get in?  It is about helping others isn't it?

Lemme help ya' Revor.

If the JG/26 symbol has WMLute above it, it's me.

If the post is poorly typed, with the thought process of a 6yr old, it's probably Gian.

Im sure you could rephrase that statement a little better with consideration of the 5-9 hour timezone difference between those two, and the majority of trainers.

vudak, murdr, i would agree, but i still think Schatzi deserves a place on the corps. always helpful and polite (so are the trainers of course) and she spends a lot of time helping. all the trainers are great though, all grwta helpful guys. is the roster taken up totally? if not, i think there are a few people out there that might deserve a closer look.

if so, then we shall see. maybe TC could set up another trainer corps wing for some extra space, you can never have enough trainers, and some european trainers would be a good idea i think:aok not my decision though

I are teh confus3d about how you got that from my post, but no that's not what I was driving at :)

Edit - I'm an idiot.  Wasn't trying to imply that Schatzi or Poo weren't experienced or helpful or major contributors to the game, I was just saying I don't think any of the trainers could really be judged "more worthy" then others.

And as for the 2nd paragraph, I was just trying to say I'm sure in time they'll get it.

Garbled that one up :o  apologies to Poo or Schatzi if you took offense :)

Vudak, I in no way took offense at what you were saying. Youre quite right about that - i have been in this game only one and a half year, this being my very first flight sim (besides a very early MS flight SIM on an old IBM 2.86 back in the 80s, where screens were still black and green). Im still as much a noob as anyone else in the TA (or i at least feel like that  )

On the subject of trainers.... In a past thread in the H&T section, TC posted requirements for a trainer. HTC and TC decide who becomes trainer.

Revor, theres a lot more to being an official trainer then knowing the basics of flying and teach a newcomer how to take off :). Thank you for the compliment :). And dont worry about Gian.... he knows hell die a slow, painfull 303 death for his comment.

Pooface said one very true thing: You dont have to be a trainer to help others. Anyone can spend time in the TA, answer questions and  share his skills and experiences with another pilot. And theres lots of "veterans" doing that, that never get mentioned anywhere!

Gian, nice try on the hijack - almost professional, but just not quite up to your usual standards... what wrong? Got a GF distracting you? :D

Dedalos..... :furious  Ill show you "sucking"!!!!!! DA - NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:furious    :furious

Member of the opposite sex.
You know, one of those two legged curvy sweet things us men think about all the time.

Girl Friend even!

REVOR, one thing I can tell you for sure.

The TA corp is very aware of both Pooface & Schatzi' contribution.
Unfortunatly we can't just add as many people as we'd like.

ty ghost, and superdud, and all of you. im sure that a lot of thought goes into the trainer corps, and im sure there are good reasons for all the decisions you make. and i'd agree that actually, although we may help out lots, and know our stuff, we're noobs compared to many of the trainers, and we ourselves still have much to learn, so perhaps one day, but for now, no;)

i still think it would be good to have some european trainers though:aok well, more european trainers;)

To spend time in the TA training people.

I spent many hours in the TA teaching what I knew.  I know I helped many people. I would just fly around and offer to help, then help those that took my offer. When people realized I had some knowledge, they were often glad to recieve my help.

Theres lots of great products that lack significant labels- Who needs a label anyway?:D
