I think the main difference between the them is an increased angle input on the 4 which corrects the issue of the 3 which has you placing it 2' to 3' away from reflective dots. The 4 can sit alot closer to your head without it going out of its radar window.
let me know how you like it. I use my 3 every once in a while, but just for fun as my k/d goes in the toilet with it on :)

The most important difference between TrackIr 4 and the basic TrackIr 3 model is that #4 has 6 degrees of freedom, #3 just 3. You can not only turn your head left/right/up/down, but lean in any direction and roll your head ( for example to retain a leveled view on horizon while banking/turning). This allows you to look around obstacles like you headrest or those thick bars in Bf109K-4: Your enemy canīt hide anymore behind the canopy frame ;) Its definitely worth the extra bucks!
Regarding to hit % and k/d: after a week my scores went way up, especially hit%

Actually Luche Track IR 3 has VECTOR also, which you describe.
Track IR 4 has a wider view angle (the camera) allowing you to keep the camera closer, without losing tracking of the reflectors.

I bought a TrackIR 4 Pro under the recommendation of friends that have them, and I can tell you I haven't been disappointed in the slightest. Although this is my first TrackIR product, I can definitely say that straight out of the box, it impressed me more than any other single computer hardware or "gadget" purchase I've ever made. The amount of situational awareness you gain while using it is ridiculous.
