Lieberman Considers All Options - Won't Rule Out Running As An Independent (http://www.courant.com/news/politics/hc-ctlieberman0411.artapr11,0,7173624.story?coll=hc-headlines-politics-state)
Ok.. it comes down to
Hillary, McCain, Lieberman and whoever the Libertarians run.
Who appeals to you the most at this point?
I'd go Lieberman right now.
-
yeah I would go Lieberman as well.
-
Well, I was a McCain guy back on 2000....but I'd have to look into Lieberman. Having said that, the article was talking about the US Senate race in CT, wasn't it?
-
Of course you would.
I don't see anything especially noble about sucking in Democratic campaign money running as a Democrat, only to abandon the Democratic party if you lose your party's primary.
But then again, that's what has always made Joe, Joe. He knows a thing or two about betrayal.
I hope Lamont kicks his bellybutton to the curb.
-
Lieberman has his bright spots. But he's hawkish, relatively centrist, relatively moderate, and Jewish. He doesn't have a prayer as a Democrat. Nash can't stand him, that is enough to make me like him by itself.

Is that what it comes down to, really?
As much as those on the right just love to say that Billary is the front runner, it's pure fiction. You need to expand your list a little. Warner, Clark, Feingold, Richardson, Gore.... and others I'd be so happy to see fix this madness.
Don't believe the hype. It aint gonna happen for Hillary, I'm afraid.
-
I hope to god that the republican party can pull it's collective head out of it's bellybutton and NOT ELECT that ****ing RINO McCain as it's representative.

If he thinks he can run this country better than the next guy, then why wouldn't he switch to independent if he couldn't get his party's nomination. Shouldn't his loyalty be to the people of the United States first...well ahead of his loyalty to "the party"?
-
heh... it's one of those ironic things, I guess, but I totally agree with ya, laser. McCain is just as baldly two-faced.
I would HOPE that people are sick of this crap by now. Seeing a thread entitled "President Lieberman" made my skin crawl.
And, it's a moot thread anyways....
The Democratic Primary wraps up in Connecticut in something like August 8th. You have to file as an Independent there on the 9th. I might have the dates screwed up, but it's the day after.
So that means that if Liebermen intends to make good on his threat, he has to undertake this absurd spectacle of running for Democrats while at the very same time, collecting signatures for an Independent run.
I don't think so.

Then he should do it now. And not accept a single dime from the Democratic party.
-
Yeah, I was just about to post that Lieberman pisses off the hardcore liberals for the same reason that McCain pisses off the republicans who have a brain.
-
If Lieberman runs as an independent, he might wind up splitting the Democrat vote and keeping the Republicans in for another 4 years.
Personally, I don't care which party the next guy is from, I just wish one of the two parties would nominate someone who isn't a corrupt lackey for a change (I know, snowball's chance in hell of that happening).

Are you in the mood to compare your list of corrupt Democratic "lackeys" against my list of corrupt Republican "lackeys?"
I honestly do laugh... whenever I see this "baby out with the bath water" stuff.
Or the latest fad: "Fuggit, I'm a Libertarian now."
To me, it's just Republicans too ashamed to admit that they've been hoodwinked.
-
Fuggit, I've been a Libertarian for years.
-
If republicans just voted on the issues instead of wearing brown shirts and toeing the party line I suspect I'd like republicans a heluva lot better than democrats.
And speaking of which... rumor mill has Bill Clinton running again for the Democrats... since The Beyatch is no more electable than a Jew.
Whatta world.
-
Hang... I miss the Republicans of old. And by old, I'm only going as far back as Bush Sr.
Something wrong happened.
This Bill Clinton candidacy rumor is the very 1st I've heard about it. Where'd you hear that? If it had any basis in reality, I'm pretty sure I'd know. I don't think you gotta worry about that. It's unconstitutional, for one. For two... well.... that's just out there, man.

Unfortunately, if we go with your list.
Id say HELLary is the frontrunner.
Given my choice on the list.....
I wonder if Baroda is accepting defectors LMAO
-
LOLORZ!!... or something.
-
This Bill Clinton candidacy rumor is the very 1st I've heard about it.
If my memory is correct.
We will be spared from four more years of Bill "I didn't inhale" Clinton by law. The law is 2 terms, or a total of ten years. If President Ford had beaten out Jimmy Carter, he could have run one more time even though he served almost 2 years as president after Richard "I'm a Criminal" Nixon resigned.
So while it is possible to serve more than 8 yrs as President, you cant serve 2 full terms, then run for a 3rd.
I think Hang was kidding though. ;)

"But you still had to click on it and find out what's inside?"
Of course I did.
Something wrong with that?
-
No. Just curious as to why one would want to read a thread if the title by itself made your skin crawl. It's like you like being uncomfortable for some reason. Just curious really.
"Something wrong with that?"
Hell yeah, *shoves Nash* What ya gonna do about it??
-
So if you saw a thread called "Coahuila y Tejas Sucks," you wouldn't take a peek?
I'm not following your logic.
-
Probably not. I don't speak Spanish. There's no logic to follow, you're thinking wayyyyyyy to deeply here. All I want to know is why would one click on a thread that "made your skin crawl"? I don't follow that logic.
-
I'm a sucker for this crap. What can I say? :)
-
Yes you are! :aok
-
OJ has a better shot than lieberman.
-
I'll put my money on "None of the Above"
Nobody ever heard of Carter or Clinton this far in front of the election.
-
$15 bucks says Hillary gets the nomination Nash.
In or out?

The past four presidential elections have produced crap, this one shall result in utter complete ****.

liberman is at heart a liberal socialist jew. He would love to ban guns and socialize medicine and raise taxes.

I don't think Hillary or McCain will win their parties nomination.

I hope you are correct.

"Are you in the mood to compare your list of corrupt Democratic "lackeys" against my list of corrupt Republican "lackeys?"
"My" list contains both Democrats and Republicans, as I consider them equally corrupt and basically cut from the same cloth. Constantly being left with the "lesser of two evils" candidates is going to ruin this country sooner or later. Some might say it already has.
I consider Reagan the worst president of modern times. GWB is an obvious example of a corporate lackey and it's unfortunate the Dems couldn't come up with a REAL candidate in '04. Hopefully they get their heads out of their collective behinds before '08 rolls around.

Governor Milt Romney of Massachusetts will be the next president of USA.

I disagree. While Lieberman may promote some social aspects of the Democrat party, he's a jew who has taken the holocaust to heart. He believes in Israel and self defense.

Whats his relationship to the kennedy clan?

I could be satisfied with Lieberman. I have a great deal of respect for him. I'd rather have him than Clinton or McCain.
-
we still got a coupla years to go... maybe there won't be a 'next' president.
-
When Condi wins in 08 what rude evil nicknames are you Librules going to label our first female commander in chief?
Hillary is not the right answer... yall can watch tv and pretend you did well in 08 though...

If the Democrats cannot come up with a candidate who can bridge the ever-widening gap between their party and the voters in fly-over land they will lose...again.
Condi Rice as president...wouldn't THAT be a result coming totally out of left field...the first female president being not only black, but a Republican as well.
Personally, I think she has a much better chance than Hillary.
-
She's got "name recognition" that the rest of the candidates can't purchase for any amount of money.
She's got more campaign funds pouring in than she knows what to do with.
She has Bill up on the podium at her side.
She has the Clinton mystique or myth... however you choose.
I don't see how she can fail to get nominated.
Well.... ok, she could step on it but I think she's too smart to get caught with a female intern. ;)
You're on Nash. $15 says Hillary gets the Democratic Party's nomination.

There have been far more governors, far more generals elected than senators. Out of 43 presidents, only three were elected from the senate, while four of the last five have been governors.
I would bet on a governor.

Why is that? Is it because people don't trust senators much?

"I voted for it before I voted against it," is why.
Senators are constantly forced to compromise on an issue here, or an issue there, in order for government to function. This adds up to a pretty damning paper trail.

Bingo. In 1990, how many of you had ever heard of Bill Clinton?
-
nash is actualy right about the fact that senators are just an empy suit and a haircut that will sell out their ideals in order to get their idea through and money to their voters.
The whorishness of senators is so easy to see that even reality show watchers and canadians can see it. and if they can't.... the opposition is more than willing to simplify it and soundbite it and put it on the commercials durring survivor or idol or whatever tripe joe sixpacks wife is making him watch this month.

actually sandie... the second half of my statement was meant to catch YOUR eye.
...after all, the adminstration may yet decide that 'for the good of the country' it would best to scare the population into making their boss's job a lifetime appointment. Wouldn't put it past Klinton to manufacture Oklahoma City nor Bush to manufacture the dissapearance of a big blue city.

Either Bush is a clueless idiot or a megalomaniacal mastermind... I mean which is it?
-
How about a clueless idiot under the control of a megalomaniacal mastermind. ;)

add 'corporate' in front of 'masterminds'.
Then we got it. :aok

Sandman...you talking about Pinky and The Brain?

I'm not sure... it sounds good, but it gives Cheney far too much credit. ;)
