I wish for a P40N, cuz that would rock.
-
did the P40N even see combat i've heard about it but not sure if it was in any major operations due to it being out classed by the GOSH DARN JEEE WILLERKERS P-51 Mustangs
-
the p40n did see combat as far as i know, that skin with the tiger on it was the N model, atleast thats what it says in the P40 edition of flight journal
-
Thats a wartbird P-40N painted up as a P-40B.
Im pretty sure 40Ns were used (probably briefly and in small numbers) in Italy, and they were at least deployed to the CBI and SWP areas, but as to whether they actually saw combat or were just there I dunno for sure.
-
I think just about everyone ally got P-40Ns, including the VVS. The SAAF used them in combat & so did the RNZAF.
RAAF, RAF, RCAF & VVS got them (Kittyhawk Mk.IV), but I dont know about combat
-
Gent's, the P-40N saw extensive combat in the SWPA, CBI and MTO.

It depends which dash number N we look at. Some where lighter, others not. Some had four .50 cals, others 6. The P-40N-1-CU was the lightest and fastest. However, only about 400 were built and they had only four guns.
Most showed little improvement in performance over the older models. For example, the P-40N-5 added addition internal fuel tanks (in the wings) and wing hard points for bombs. Weight increased and performance was about the same as the P-40E. P-40N-35s and 40s were built near the end of production with 1,360 hp engines and redesigned ailerons (all metal). This was probably the best performing N, along with the -1).
The greatest under wing load I ever saw fitted to a P-40N (in a photograph) was one 500 lb on centerline, with a 250 lb bomb under each wing.
