How can I get full throttle?Seems like keyboard command (Shift,=) doesn't work for me!
My velocity is about 200 mph/max with P-51 D.

if you are using the mouse as a control, the mousewheel is the throttle. if using a stick, that is your throttle. the keyboard controls only work if nothing else is progammed as the throttle axis
and, a good way to test you are at full throttle in quite a few planes is to press p, the wep command. if you get a slight power boost, you know that you are at full power.
now, your speed is different to your throttle. you can be at full power and still only be doing 80mph. if you want to build speed, don't climb too fast, fly the plane straight and level for a while and let it accelerate.:aok

yea this game is realistic like that i've seen someone say they are at full throttale and climb straight and say why are they falling?:lol
Then they say well in secret weapon over normandy you accerate to full speed and can climb like crazy in like 10 seconds isn't that a simulation game:huh :rofl
Ok that was lil off topic but yea the P-51D takes forever to accelerate anyways press the X button for auto level and set your plane fly WATCH OUT FOR THOSE 150ft trees:p yea if your using a stick which is highly recommended use and throttale axis on there or calibrate it and stuff.

Also, speed is a matter of loadout.
If your planes hung like a Xmas tree, full of rockets and bombs, they add both drag and weight, therefore reducing you accelleration AND your top speed, as well as your climb.
Check your planes loadout in the HANGAR and go with 50% fuel, no external ordenance for your first flights.
Find lots of useful info to get you started on this forum, in the HTC help file and at Net Aces (http://www.netades.org).

PS: If your flying with a Joystick, make sure its calibrated correctly, both ingame and in Windows.

Thanks guys!I really appreciate your response.It seems I had to take more training hours.
This might be the most realistic sim...I know also the phenomen,when you are diving and gaining seemingly speed you are actually stalling.

Again throttle issue.Do you use throttle and flaps at all while ACMing,like making forceful brake,barrel roll etc?Have you some principle or main procedure?

Not a master at this by any means, but there are definite uses for throttle adjustments in combat.
Every time you adjust, tho, you're trying to balance the advantage of more energy (higher throttle) versus tighter radius in your turn or loop (lower throttle).
I find I back down the throttle in a couple situations primarily. Obviously, when diving you want to shift down if you're approaching maximum controllable speed. Also, when diving in on an enemy, throttle adjustments help keep your angle where you want it to be. I've also found that working the throttle in a dogfight helps me stay inside enemies' turns. If you're not careful, though it can be dangerous -- cutting throttle can give the enemy an energy advantge if not dont right, and that can mean they can go places and angles your now slower plane cannot
Flaps are good for maintaining lift at low speed, but cost energy as well. Drop em when you have to -- to get that final angle, or to keep from stallng at the top of a loop, or to keep going in a "stallfight" turn battle. But, pull em up soon, because they give away a lot of energy -- and teh lower your flaps, the more energy you lose. (This is good when trying to slow down for landing, tho.)
Some plane have a HUGE advantage when flaps go down, and some can start using them at higher speeds than others. (some call those "combat flaps") The Ki-84 and the F4U shine when flaps come out. The P-38 used to, but this last patch took away some of the Lightning's shine with flaps. Many american planes can drop flaps early, almost up to 300 mph, which lets them slow down faster and tighten turns quickly. The F4U series has hardened landing gear, which act as speed brakes to suddenly dump energy in combat -- so watch out for oivershooting them! COurse, if that gamble doesnt work, the f4u is slow and vulnerable.....:t

that is really up to you, but it can help, for example, cutting the throttle in a split S so that you don't lose too much altitude, and to keep your turn tight :)
flaps help a lot if you need to turn quickly, especially in the american planes, that have combat flaps. like i said, it's all what you prefer, what works for you:aok
