Title: The Swarm...
Post by: Seagoon on April 14, 2006, 10:29:04 PM
...has arrived.

My next door neighbor who flies for the army, said that this afternoon a gigantic swarm of Africanized bees (aka "Killer Bees") came out of the skies over Simmons Army Airfield and descended on one of the hangars. His description was that it looked like a small swirling black tornado. Completely freaked him out.

Well, I knew they were gradually moving north, and that Fayetteville was easily warm enough for them. Any advice from those who've already had to deal with 'em?

Spool up an old huey. The racket will piss 'em off, they'll attack... and that big ol turbine will just suck live bee's in one end and chuck out toasted lil corpses from the other.

They've been here for a few years now.  Completely harmless really, especially if you get them into the playoffs.

well... maybe we could deport 20 million bees.

Or, we could teach 'em english, make 'em pay taxes and **** honey for 20 years before we deport 'em..

But I think I'd rather just suck 'em up with an 1100shp Lycoming T-53-L-11 Turboshaft vacuum cleaner and post pictures of the fried corpses on all the African Bee networks.

...and a failed immigration policy is fixed.

Thanks, I figured it was time for an "old-school" make-over. "Paul in Prison" (1627) has long been one of my favorite Rembrandts, and its on the cover of one of the commentaries (http://www.cvbbs.com/inventory.php?target=indiv&search_back=keywords%3D%26searchstyle%3Dadvanced%26page%3D1%26session%3Dab00bdaf4507481a0ffc6ca81de91673%26title_keyword%3D%26isbn_keyword%3D%26publisher_keyword%3D%26author_keyword%3Dgeoffrey%26sort_by%3DAUTHOR&bookid=6630) I've been using a lot of late. Everytime I saw it, I always thought, that would make a great Avatar. Plus, I feel that old of late.

Of course the "Paul" in the picture has a lot more hair than I do these days... Sadly, I don't really have enough at present for even Mav's suggested comb-over. But he's just bragging because his police motorcycle helmet held all of his hair to his head, so much so that it has attempted an escape over his upper lip. ;)

Anyway, I have to get working on purchasing a Huey on Ebay, not having much luck so far.

How odd that you have that problem.  Here in Ohio, there are very few wild bees left.  Parasites killed most of them off.  Don't you have the mite infestation problems down south?

Possible solution to the Bee problem

Wonder if they do just as well against the Africanised (killer) bees?
