You guys are welcome to use the ACES HIGH 2 TS Server.
You can find it in the Web Server List, in TeamSpeak.
If you don't have TeamSpeak you can get it here:
TeamSpeak (http://www.goteamspeak.com/)
TeamSpeak is a form of communication over the internet with peers.

You are aware that AH has its own internal voice coms, right?

Thats probably why he is telling us about THIS one;

he probably isn't aware

AH voice is about as realiable as a Ford Escort, with bald tires in two feet of snow. ;)
-
Its all about knowing how to drive that escort. :)
For all the complaints people have, through 4 different systems now, I have NEVER lost vox. Never had to reset it. Never had to do anything but use it.
Now if you want to talk about QUALITY of the sound, well........
-
Had teamspeak on a scenario and i didnt like it cause i dont know whos talking. AH got the nice feature to mention the talker in the top right corner.
Besides, im a programmer so everything byond true or false is to much for me. Having 2 channles in ah2 is already hard couldnt handle a third one without assigning another bit of attention to it :(.
Apart from my personal problems with it its cool that you put up a server and i might eaven use it some time.
-
anyone remember that one weekend a couple years ago where the vox channels got all fudged up and you ended up talking to people on a different team than you when you were on local chat?
-
In response to AH's Comms; Yes,... I know they have one built-in. Good thinking on their part to do.
But, it appears that you, HAVE to push and hold a button (F12), everytime you want to speak.
I come from a Game where I find it a bit annoying at times to have to pay attention to where, and push and hold down a button to speak, when you need that attention else where, like constantly on your JS control or/and mouse, or somewhere else on your KB. So, if you ask me if I'd rather use a comms, that I don't have to do that. Sure, I would.
LOL,... now anyways by habbit, because of the ease, it brings.
To the Overlay system that AH has built-in that allows you to see whos speaking, there's the same for TS;
TeamSpeak Overlay (http://www.teamspeakoverlay.com).
If they patch in a system where I don't have to hold down a button to talk, I'd be happy to use it instead.
But at any rate, I'd like to provide an option for those that may want it.
-
in AH the button thing is to stop someone from constantly talking. you can only talk for 5 seconds on range, 10 seconds on tunable VOX before the system automatically fades you out.
the benefit of using the in-game AH VOX is the range channel. anyone within 6K can hear you. easire to give check-6's and stuff.
-
Isnt there a voice operated VOX? Kinda would be funny if you heard someone on range screaming at their mom for some milk
MOMMYYYYYYY I GOT KILLED :cry :cry :cry :cry

Funny thing. I play another game that also has voice built in, with a voice ativated option. If anyone tries to use this option everyone else on the team ask them to turn it off. Way to many acidental transmits, from sneezes to phone rings, to game back ground noise.

I run a TS server for other games like FB and if you have voice activation turned on you either get asked to turn it off or get kicked. Same with every other game I play that has in game voice. I can't see how no voice activation in AH is a bad thing. Nothing is more annoying then listening to a guy breath or getting *****ed at by his wife...
As much chattered that gets spewed out over a range I would quit AH all together if range was spammed with folks breathing etc... A separate issue is that range cuts off the squad / tuned channel and any background noise coming over range would make things unbearable without a perma-ban list.
We are using TS in conjunction with the AH voice in the current Stalin's Fourth event. I have buttons mapped for range, squad, command and Kuhlmey and still have unmapped keys / buttons on my CH Hotas. In fact my throttle hat switch runs all coms.

I find it very easy to map a 2 buttons on my Saitek Joystick to be the local and squad channel transmit buttons. This makes life easier.

apparently the more beer I drink the heavier I breath. By the end of the second bottle, my teamates have me shutting off the Voice activation for fear their wives are going to think they're logged onto http://www.horneyphonecalls.com.

I hate it when players use voice activation on TS2... nothing more annoying then hearing the phone call... sneezing.. coughing and other crap coming out of the random players sound systems...

Those who have the sensitivity set too high, every time they breath, it transmits. Somewhat annoying to me

Conclusion, Hitech plays games during work hours instead of coading feverishly, an advantage of being your own boss.

It's funny.....XBat and I used teamspeak in "another" game and he had his voice activated. There were times I could tell when he was getting a bit too excited...or his butt itched.......SCAREY!

AH VOX is great, as far as voice activated MIC's that didn't come around until the 60's perhaps late 50's. This is a WWII Sim, right. Where in real life the poor guy bobbing and weaving with two zeros on his six had to divert his attention to setting release switches, selecting guns, selecting sight ranges, resetting his mixture to max out his rpm for current density altitude oh and yea, had to hold his hand up to his throat to press the pickup mic against his neck so he could ask for someone to clear his six.
Yea, AH VOX is great just the way it is, even with you lose vox. What you don't think they lost communations on Missions, had radio failures?
-
I rarely have problems with AH vox. I too play another game with Teamspeak. As soon as I turned on voice activation I was told to turn it off because someone made me laugh and I snorted my scotch. Oh the pain, and the disgusting noises I made that were heard by all! Not to mention the waste.
It's no problem programming buttons on your j/s for the AH vox channels. Holding a button down in order to speak is not a problem either.
The only constant problem that I have with AH vox is that you cannot squelch the range channel. It 's a pain trying to communciate with squaddies when your squad coms. are being stepped on by guys on range who want to chitchat about anything whether related to gameplay or not. It would be cool if the squad channel always took precedence, so that every time a squaddie spoke, the range channel faded or blanked out until the speaker released the button.

arenas behind NAT where AHII vox will not.
-
Yes, AH VOX does work behind a NAT router, IF the NAT router support UDP over NAT. D-Link, nor Linksys routers have support for it, but Motorola does have support for it.

Skuzzy,
I have never had AH VOX problems with my Linksys WRT54G even in H2H, but I have never hosted H2H. Vox also works fine from Guam using my Netgear router.

Hosting is the issue DAVE. When not hosting, it is only an issue when you have two or more computers using VOX at the same time.

What "other" game do you play HT? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

I dont have the cash to replace hardware w/ a specific model just to host h2h arenas. I suppose I could justify the outlay if I dropped AHII account and went h2h exclusively. I am buying new stuff for the network I'll have soon, but based on the posts I've seen regarding in this issue in "multiplayer" forum, I don't expect to make that a decision point in my purchase. It sounds to me like maybe it'll work, maybe it wont, maybe the one known model that does wont be available when I pull out the plastic.
