Do you honestly think the kid and that old Iraqi woman wrote those signs?  lol  COME ON!!!  Yes, I know I am a pinko commie for suggesting it, but I find it funny that you won't believe anything the bias left wing media reports...but get a few kids smiling with a soldier (one even kissing the flag on his shirt) and you accept that as the way it really is over there.  

You guys are just as bad as the people you criticise.

Salient point and well taken sir. The rolly eyes really sent it home for me. If only I'd have considered the irony of the Abu Graib situation in this context I too could be on a level befitting your insightful sword of knowledge. Without a sample of her own handwriting, it would be impossible to tell. However the signs were written by someone whose native language is Arabic, the way they form the letters U and A and the portion of a sign in the same handwriting in Arabic behind the English one on the left is the giveaway.

No doubt the obscured Arabic sign behind the English one reads, "Will Hold Up Signs for Candy"

I love those photos.

For what it's worth, the pic of the kid with the blank slate is likely going to be used for propaganda.  It's a common trick to have people hold up blank white boards, so you can superimpose whatever message you want.  Whether or not that was their intent, I'll never know, but my guess is that SOMEONE will end up trying to exploit that picture.

Yea it's cynical but I'm trained to be suspicious and no way in hell will I ever let myself be photographed holding any blank, light-colored board, paper, or sign...

Man I can feel the love in these replys........from the looks of the replys...some of you fellas feel like there is not one good thing that has been done in Iraq.....not one good thing....it amazes me the negitivity in this form when it comes too looking at good vs bad....my guess is that some of you guys think its funny to be negitive to get a rise out of other people!!!!

I thought I spotted something in that one image.  It had been photoshopped.  I carefully unmasked it and this appears to be the original image.
