It's bizarre. A Kansas preacher is organizing protests at the funerals of fallen soldiers because, "America allows homosexuals in the country".
This video clip will anger you.
-
Im honestly surprised some grieving relative hasn't killed one of the SOBs yet.
But you know the old saying "Some people are alive simply because its against the law to kill them".
-
Saw this nutball on TV attempting to verbally defecate on a veterans furneral.. the attempt was blocked by a hundred or so Bikers, shielding the family from the bile spouting anuses.
I was horrified this bellybutton was still breathing and proud of the effort by the bikers to protect the family.
-
Yep, angers me too. The price we pay for having a 1st amendment.
-
My question is, who's going to be the first person to *ahem* "Take one for the team?"
-
That absurd enough to laugh at.
-
They protested at a funeral near here in Smyrna. My best friend and I loaded up in his truck to go, and pick up a couple friends along the way. But our wives wouldn't hear of it. I think they knew what might happen. And they were probably right. Honestly, I think we'd have just taken their signs and crap and trashed them (the signs and crap, not the breathing crap).
-
Never ask women for permission to go beat up a dip****.
Forgiveness is always more forthcoming than permission.
Lastly. have you asked your wife for a viewing lately? You know... if yer balls are floating in a mason jar; surely she lets you look at 'em every now and again, yes?
:)

Your wives blocked the pickup from leaving? Is that what you're saying happened?
I'm not so sure the wack-jobs had that much to worry about if your wives stopped you after you had already got in the pick-up.
-
You have it all wrong. I didn't ask. She asked that I not do it, she didn't TELL me anything. She reminded me that given my temper it was not wise to place myself in a position to be provoked. It would only have further disrupted the funeral, and given a scumsucking dirtbag extra publicity for free. She was indeed correct that a redneck brawl would not have made it better for the soldier's family. It was their time to say goodbye, it was not my time to show my ass, and not my place to further disrupt their solemn occasion.

If you think this, you obviously know nothing of which you write. Having seen and read much of what you write, this does not surprise me.

Internet tough guys notwithstanding, I think being in the presence of that, might anger me into some type of bad behavior.

The only tard involved is you. Your IQ, or rather the lack of it, is showing. But just keep right on showing your stupidity if it makes you feel like a real man or an intellectual. Fools like you are a great source of amusement for me. I have nothing to prove here. I surely do not need the Internet or this forum to stroke my ego. Run along home now, your mommy is calling, she has some kool aid for you, I think it is Michael Moore flavor.

LOL.
I'm serious. He amuses me. This drivel is really funny to me.
You were exactly right, being in the presence of that without something to help remain calm might cause someone to do something they shouldn't. My wife simply understands that I have a nasty temper. She merely said "you two will go down there with the best of intentions, but your temper will get the best of you. You might just do something to cause more pain to that family". And she was right. My temper makes me get stupid sometimes. It is a fault that causes me no small amount of trouble and sometimes embarassment. It has gotten my bellybutton whipped as well.
Idiots have a tendency to read something into things that simply is not there. Nowhere did I claim I was a badass and was headed down there to kick the crap out of anyone. I merely said I was going down there with some friends. A clueless dolt ASSumed the rest. Our intention was to support the family and create a presence between them and the protestors. I did however say that we might have been lead by my temper to do something unwise.

Hehe....I have been smote by your stinging commentary! :O

Now THAT is funny. Whoever that is no doubt could take me in arm wrestling. I should get off my sorry bellybutton and workout more often.

You claimed exactly that...that you were going down there to physically confront them by taking their signs and trashing them. I read exactly what you wrote. Maybe you need to actually write with more clarity as it pertains to your actual intentions.
Anyway...you're easily aroused and quick to anger, but obviously slow of wit and action.
As for the subject matter....It pisses me off too, and I had the same initial reaction you did. I just didn't "load up in the pick-up" on a BBS.
BTW, I hate Michael Moore...not sure how you think I thought anything else.

No, stupid, I did not. I said something MIGHT have happened, and that at worst we'd have taken their signs and trashed the signs. I did not say we were going with the intent of physically attacking or confronting anyone. Again, you read what you wanted to read. I said we were going down to where they were protesting. Show me where I wrote ANYTHING of specific intent.
Here is what I posted: They protested at a funeral near here in Smyrna. My best friend and I loaded up in his truck to go, and pick up a couple friends along the way. But our wives wouldn't hear of it. I think they knew what might happen. And they were probably right. Now, had I said," My best friend and I loaded up in his truck to go down there and take their signs and trash them" THAT would have been intent.
The group here was mostly older morons with some teenage girls as a sideshow. I most certainly did not, nor would I ever, consider going there with the intent of physicaly attacking teenage girls. Or a bunch of way past middle aged idiots.
Once again, look into reading what people write, and not what you think they wrote. Because you did not read what I wrote. You read what you wanted to read into it.

I'M not comparing ANYTHING!!!!!
-
Oh...well that makes all that much clearer. It was just bravado.
My bad.
Of course stating what "honestly would have happened" isn't intent at all.
BTW, physically confronting and physically attacking are actually two different things....but your MENSA IQ already knew that.
But then again...older morons and teenage girls sound just your speed.

I never said ANYTHING would happen. See, there you go putting words where they were not. Read it EXACTLY as it was written. Can you do that? Can you read and comprehend simple English without adding your own coloring? The phrase "honestly would have happened" does not appear anywhere in my post. Does it? Answer honestly, if you can. You wrote that phrase, and took it out of context besides. Go ahead and admit it.
Yeah, I guess morons amuse me, I've replied to several of your posts.

Guys the thread is hijacked nicely. Can you go private now?

"Honestly, I think we'd have just taken their signs and crap and trashed them (the signs and crap, not the breathing crap)."
Either it's bluster, and you are full of it, or you are not and IF your wives had let you go, you would have followed through on your statement.
So, are you full of it, or are you just capable of taking on older morons and teenage girls? Assuming you can get past your wife :)

I'm done with him. He obviously is not honest with himself or anyone else. I'll take no part in continuing the hijack. I have nothing to say to him in private I wouldn't say here. I'm sure he'll continue the hijack, at least enough to get the last word in.

He'll probably tell you that having christian beliefs does not automatically make you a moral person. That those people live in a world of cognative dissonance, holding conflicting beliefs to love all of god's children and bringing misery to funerals. Therefore, they are not the Christians they believe themselves to be.

Well, let's ask him shall we? Lesee back in August of 2005 in this thread on the same topic: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=157007&highlight=Phelps
Seagoon wrote:
Fred Phelps, what can one say about Fred? Well, Fred seems to have forgotten the gospel of grace a long time ago and has switched over to a ministry consisting entirely of a grim preaching of the wrath of God towards sin, sans the equally important doctrine of the mercy of God extended to sinners. I can't help but imagine that Fred and the exceedingly sparse membership of his WBC church would benefit from a serious consideration of the phrase "There But For the Grace of God Go I" or that Christ Himself asked of the father "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." regarding those who were crucifying him.
Personally, I am trying hard - very hard - to be filled with pity towards Fred and his flock instead of wrath. I have already lost Christian brothers to IEDs in the war on terror, including one, Captain Ernie Blanco, who himself was planning on marrying and going into the ministry when he left the military. To this day I cannot remember meeting a more godly, upstanding, and zealous proponent of the Good News. His witness has been confirmed in the fact that all of the guys I have met who served in his unit, Christian and non-Christian were utterly devestated when he was killed, all of them had some memory of him that spoke of his kindness, selflessness, courage, and willingness to act as a servant leader. For Fred to conclude that men like Ernie are condemned to hell merely for their honorable service, indicates that he does not in fact understand salvation at all. I don't know what I would do if he ever showed up at a funeral I was conducting, but may God give me strength to pray and witness even to the hardened in heart in that moment, rather than repaying evil for evil with a swift kick in the rear.
All of this goes to show that ministers need an overseeing body, no good ever ultimately comes of absolute ministerial independency.

Now, now Ripsnort, you wouldn't be comparing a bunch of placard waving numbskulls to suicide bombers would you?
The pastor in that video is like a characature of a moron. Quite funny really. It's a shame he has to vent his spleen around people trying to have a private moment of mourning. Isn't there a radio show he could do? Then again Rush Limburgh or whatever his name has that market cornered.
Seagoon - so it would seem religious leaders abusing their power for self-aggrandisement is not something limited to any one faith. It also seems that this chap is pretty well known in the States.

NP, thanks for posting it, I got very choked up at the end when the funeral procession is going down a road lined with 200 flags waving in the wind. Would that every soldier who died in battle got that kind of salute without having to endure the wicked ranting of Fred's family.
A friend of mine, Phil Johnson, who works with Dr. John MacArthur of "Grace to You" (http://www.gty.org/) maintains a webpage of theology resources, he ranks Phelp's website at the very lowest mark "Really, really bad theology" and has this statement and link to an expose on Phelps:
"Godhatesstudmuffins.com Here's a Topeka, Kansas, "Baptist" church that has managed to mangle the gospel so completely that hate, rather than love, is at the heart of the message they proclaim. They picket funerals of AIDS victims, carrying signs saying "No Tears for Queers." This "church" is actually a small cult comprised mostly of "Pastor" Fred Phelps's own offspring and their children. An eye-opening expose of the Phelps clan ("Addicted to Hate," by investigative reporter Jon Michael Bell) (http://blank.org/addict/)) is on line, Exhibit A in some court documents in a lawsuit involving a Topeka newspaper.
As a Calvinistic Baptist, I'm embarrassed by the Web presence of this "church." What you'll find here is a radically different gospel from the good news proclaimed in Scripture, so this is an apt candidate for the "really, really bad" category.
Personally, I've never met a fellow evangelical pastor who had anything contempt for Phelp's message, and pity for the man and his "church."

this just in.
g-d told me that he sent hurricane rita because the NCAA has failed to put together a definitive football championship
-
That is so wrong......
How can someone call themselves a pastor and at the same time have a total lack of compassion for other people? How he can preach about the wrath of God towards sinners without also preaching the good news of God's mercy for us is beyond me.
His *preaching* at the funerals of our dead soldiers is completely inappropriate.
-
he seems to be insane in a very ugly and unpleasant way.... like jeffery dahlmer.
I wouldn't blame any of you guys if you didn't go to his church.

It would be pleasant to consider the Patriot Guard folks doing their thing at the funeral and once the funeral is over and the family has left, doing their thing on the "pastor". They could always claim God made them do it. :t

Wait kids! There is more (http://www.wimp.com/religious/).
Thank God for 911.
Thank God for dead soldiers.
Thank God for IEDs.
