Noting that Music is Personal, and there is no Greatest, what makes your skin crawl when you hear them?

Randy Rhodes for me.   Bar None, my Personal Favorite.  Close second ( but too commercialized ) Santana.

Don't bother with the "Oh He Suxors" stuff, it's irrelevant, this isn't about what you Don't like, but what Do you like?  Who cares Why.

Anyone see the HBO special Black and White (I think?) with Roy Orbison?  Chills, some Awesome Strings there.

SRV. Yeah, he ripped off all the old bluesmen, but its still incredible to listen to.

Tommy Emmanuel is a VERY close second.  Acoustic bliss.

SRV didn't rip off the old blues men anymore than the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin did.  He took what they did and added his own twist which is what any guitar player does.  Along with that, once he had his fame he did his best to spread around the accolades to those that came before him.  And no, I'm not Mr. Black.  :)

for me, Jimmy Page had the most influence on how I play guitar.

But Clapton, Tony Iomi (sp? Black Sabbath), and Hendrix right up there as well.

i personally like Allison Robertson from "The Donnas".


but as far as actual guitars go, you cant go wrong with these two. (they belong to a friend of mine.)

Too many great guitarists, too many great styles, no way I can say "this guy".

Some names that have blown me away that I don't see commonly mentioned in discussions like this are Johnny Winter, Frank Marino, Roy Clark, and David Gilmour.

Dick Dale, Roy Clark, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, Eddie VanHalen, Mason Williams, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana, David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas, Eric Johnson, George Benson, Don Felder, Steve Ray Vaughn, Ted Nugent, BB King....  and many many more, there is almost no better sound than a well played acoustic, steel, electric, bass, Guitar

I think it would be very hard to pick the top.

Yes, I actually returned the VETTA II head and picked up the PODXT-Live (http://www.line6.com/podxtlive/)  ( Half the cost ) that does the exact samething considering I own a JMC800 Head and cab already.
