I thought it might be fun to see where you guys come from and where you'd like to be.
I'll start:
I was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico (yes, there is a Las Vegas in New Mexico), but I don't have any memories of it.
I grew up in Mendocino (its the town they used in the intro sequence and as the location in some episodes of "Murder She Wrote") on the north coast of California. Its a small, rural town with a population of about 1,100.
After graduating from High School in 1991 I moved to Marin to attend a Junior College. I have been down here ever since and am now working in San Francisco.
If there was work on the north coast I'd move back in a heartbeat. I HATE urban and suburban areas, there's way too many people. I much prefer the calmer pace of rural communities.

- i was raised all over the south and desert sw and lived in california since early '84, currently in san francisco since 96 - before that los angeles and s.lk.tahoe
- alright here for now...but would like to do a few years in europe or some other place for a change of atmosphere

Born in Aalborg, Denmark. Moved to Sweden at 7, where I moved around a lot. Returned to DK when I was 20 for studies. Stuck here for another two years, and them I'm emigrating somewhere.

Born and raised in Dallas Texas, Moved to San Marcos Texas to go to SWT. after one year, I moved back to Dallas. I now live in Grapevine ( right outside of Dallas ) I will always live in or near Dallas, Austin or Houston......... LOVE THOSE TEXAS WOMEN!

I lived in McCloud for 6 months after ETS from the Army,just a short hop down the road.
I was born in Claremore,Oklahoma - I grew up 15 miles away from the hospital in Catoosa.
I joined the Army because I couldn't stand the place and swore that if I returned it would be to buy the town and turn it into a toxic waste dump.
A year in the butthole of America <Columbus,Georgia> and the rest in Germany and Oklahoma was looking pretty good again. 8^)

lol mietla, I'm not a socialist. Politically, I'm a neoliberalist.
Liberal in the European sense means the opposite of what it means in the US . I'm for a small state, limited taxes and so forth (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
I wouldn't know where to go in the US - it's a BIG place.

Born in Thames in the Coromandel of New Zealand. Moved round a bunch of small towns till we settled in Pahiatua (small rural town), then moved to Palmerston North at 8yrs. Went to Massey Uni at Palmy, then moved to Wellington (capital) 2 years ago.
I wanna go to London for a couple of years to rake extra-ordinarily large sums of money from contract programming (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Then come back here and buy half the country.

Born in Tucson Arizona and still here. Done a bit of traveling accross the US with the "blessings" of the Army. Most favorite Army visits were Panama and the north central part of California.

Born and raised in a redneck backwoods town in Pennsylvania. My mom called me on the phone all excited when they got their first traffic signal last year.
Since then...lived in Stuttgart Germany 3 years,called a tent in Saudi/Iraq home for 8 months, Monterey Ca 2 years, Tacoma Wa 2 years, San Antonio Tx for 1 year, Honolulu Hi for past 2 years.
Plan on moving back to Washington state next year, probably Tacoma area. If I could manage it I would move back to Stuttgart, but 2 children later and it's kinda tough (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Did you go to college of marin? If so I used to live about 200ft from where you went to school. I lived in kentfield for almost a year back in '86. Mt. Tam rocks!!!! Went to Grey College, University of Durham for four years until 2000.

Not my first choice - I was planning to apply for officer training in the RAF. Unfortunately I had a some kind of fit last year (finals stress + lack fo food + lack of sleep + late night + computer screen = weird shaking on floor (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)). Basically I was accepted for OASC after a couple of interviews (Officer Aircrew Selection Centre at RAF Cranwell), the medical officer down there took one look at my medical file and I was told I couldn't apply for 5 years!!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) Even though all the diagnosis tests were negative on there been any epilepsy etc.
I'll be 27 by the time I can re-apply.
Aaah well, it was the only thing I really wanted - I guess these things are meant to be character building. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I might try and work for the government in some other way.

I was born on a dark, stormy night in....
nah - actually I was born in Yokosuka (sp?) Japan but I only spent a couple of months there. Grew up in the small South Texas town of Harlingen. Then did a 3 year stint in Dallas and the last year I have been in Houston. Considering a move back to the Metroplex...got an interview on Monday in Fort Worth. Wish me luck!!

Been all over: France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, USA (few poxy states....highlight of the trip was Cleveland....yup it was that bad), Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand (hey Spatula....I looove hot water beach).
