I was fooling around with my video settings tonight, trying to figure out why my frame rate gets around 17 and all jerky when I get into a furball at 1280x10somethin but stays around 40 otherwise.  I set my res to 1024x768 and rode around and weirdly the frame rate all around was much lower, as well the mouse was laggy on the clipboard big time.
I wonder why that is?  I've got a GEForce 6600/256 and a pentium 2.4 with 1gb ram.

Does your monitor have a default resolution setting?

It is not unusual.  The last couple of generations of video cards actually do perform better at higher resolutions.

It's a Dell 19" flat panel.  Probably 1280 is its default.
Thanks Skuzzy.  I thought I was losing my mind.

I believe but not 100 % sure that the lower res will bottle neck the craphics card.
