How the **** do sex toys make you wife cheat, if she cheats, it's her fault not some hunk of vibrating rubber.
This idea is pure idiocy.
-
They did it in Mississippi, not sure if it passed or not. How do you know when your politicians are doing NOTHING? They try banning sex toys:rolleyes:

dunno...maybe Vudak is concerned that his wife will find out he is more of a catcher than a pitcher?

GtoRA2 - I didn't mean to imply that HAVING sex toys would make a wife cheat, I meant to imply that NOT having them around might. I should have been clearer.
And at any rate it was a joke. But man I should have ran with it, you guys are just hopping in the boat.
And no I don't catch, and, thank God, no I don't have a wife :D
-
In a do nothing situation the politicians have to at least LOOK like they are doing something to justify their position. In other words its a "feel good" law. Or a law promoting NOT feeling good depending on your point of view.
-
If they ban sex toys only the crimminals will have sex toys.

Other states that ban the sell of sex toys include Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas, said Mark Lopez, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union.
I dont know if I would say continues, but on this subject they sure seem to be giving it the ol College try.

In 1973 the state legislature of the U.S. state of Texas passed Section 43.21 (known as the obscenity statute) which, in part, prohibits the sale or promotion of ""Obscene device" mean[ing] a device including a dildo or artificial vagina, designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs."
Although Austin's 20-member police vice squad was broken up in 1998 following an internal scandal involving bribes, graft and corruption, and its task farmed out to various other police units, this has not, apparently, stopped police from prosecuting under the statute. In Burleson in 2004, for example, Joanne Webb, a mother of three and a former schoolteacher, faced up to a year in prison for selling a vibrator to two undercover police officers posing as a married couple at a private party. She was later acquitted, and the undercover officers were issued reprimands.
Section 43.23 of the code deals with promotion ("A person commits an offense if he ... possesses with intent to wholesale promote any obscene material or obscene device. A person who possesses six or more obscene devices ... is presumed to possess them with intent to promote the same.") This section carries higher penalties, and for this reason, those businesses that trade in items covered under the act usually market them as 'novelties' or 'educational items'. -From the Wiki

This sort of thing is exactly what I hate about religion and politics intermingling. I'm pretty sure this was the result of some heavy duty lobbying effort by religious groups wanting to force their morality upon everyone. I have no idea if this is true, but it has happened before.
Conscentual crime laws like these should be ruled unconstitutional. The phrase "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" appears early on in our history and was the foundation this nation was built on. These laws shame us.
Odd isn't it, that some people sleep better at night knowing they've kept a piece of molded plastic (batteries not included) out of someone's hands?
-
"The phrase "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" appears early on in our history and was the foundation this nation was built on."
Well, it was originally 'life, liberty, and estate', but Jefferson apparently didn't think people have a right to their own property.

It was and English philosopher named John Locke who wrote about life liberty and estate.
The founders drew heavily on Locke, and the original draft of the Declaration of Independence, as penned by Jefferson, did include one reference to property. Referring to King George III of Great Britain, this original draft stated, “He has incited treasonable insurrections in our fellow-subjects, with the allurements of forfeiture and confiscation of our property.”
The "original rough draught" says We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independant, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends,
Jefferson believed people have a right to property. There is no question that the founding fathers hoped that everyone (at least every white man) would have some property. Jefferson’s ideal certainly was that we would be a land of many small farmers... nobody with too much.
-
"Jefferson’s ideal certainly was that we would be a land of many small farmers... nobody with too much."
I was trying to make a joke (badly it seems), but I agree wholeheartedly that Jefferson believed in an agrarian sort of lifestyle.

Well....... I'm sure the way is paved for all sorts of jokes to be made against people living in some of those southern states. You can have a .45, but not a dildo.
But no jokes from me, today. I'm still in a state of shock that states would actually legislate against sex toys. Un-freaking-believable!!!

I know the guy who's father invented the Sybian. Dude made millions off the thing... This poor guy has all kinds of bad memories of being the cleanup boy when his father was doing demos in motel rooms. The chicks would line up out the door to give it a test ride and this poor kid had to stand there and clean up after each "trial".

(trying to find the constitutional reference to the right to keep and bare sex toys...)
I wonder if Britain has repealed its blasphemy law yet... the one that muslims tried to get enforced against Salman Rushdie, but that the House of Lords said only pertained to the Church of England.

RPM, well said.

It all comes down to uptight people who dont want to be thought of as a sexual animal with their feet up over their heads.

Been trying to come up with an appropriate reply to this thread. Got several thoughts along that line...but can't make up my mind which is the most fitting to the subject matter. Maybe you guys can help:
1. I wouldn't touch this thread with a ten-foot pole...no telling where it's been.
2. These devices will now be sold only after a background check and a five day waiting period. ATF will henceforth be known as ATFD, and will keep a national database on the ownership, use and trafficking of such devices.
3. Scanning this thread, it appears that school is already out for the summer.
4. Is it any wonder the Muslims hate the west...
Cast your ballots for only ONE of the above.
-
Well the sales of erotically endowed vegetables should see a sizeable spike if that law passes.
Maybe some legislatures didnt feel enough women were getting enough vegetables in their diet :D

It should not be constitutional.
RPM.. it has nothing to do with seperation of church and state. What state sponsored church passed the laws?
I am in agreement with beet and curval on the issue but am shocked that they see a democratic ban that they don't like.... I mean.... if most people don't want it and.... since I don't use em then how could I have lost my right to own em and all that...
It is funny.... everyone likes to ban things they don't care about but get all uppity when a ban might affect them.
This is how governments take away rights.... pit the stupid against each other.

I havent dug deep yet for the specific wording on the law for Texas but I know of a few reputable establishments that sell these items here in Austin and in San Antonio, and have heard of people have those in home parties. There maybe laws but maybe they're uninforceable

some of the posters here from tiny little british isles and tourist traps/tax evassion shelters.... seem to be saying that we are no better off than them....freedom wise..
I think that most of us can see that we would rather get caught with a dildo in SC than a handgun in their country.

You need to be very careful with sex toys. Those things are dangerous...someone might put out an eye lazs.
I'd personally rather be "caught" not filing any personal tax returns with the most omnipotent organisation in the world....the IRS...here, rather than in the US. Oh...wait...I don't have to anyway.

Ain`t nuttin to it in Texas, just like this will be. It`s just another "grab some free name pasting in the media, feel gooder".
It never missed a beat here. You change the name it is being sold as and carry on. Tis all BS.

I can see no way that banning sex toys would not be a violation of human rights. I would never vote for such a thing and.... I am pretty ashamed that the supreme court would allow such a law to go unchallenged.

omg...too funny.....this is first time i been in this forum and man...i think i been missing out. some crazy funny crap in here.....
just have to add my 2 cents to this
i think the whole idea of them passin that law is crazy. in michigan there is something bout sex toys that r illegal but........the sex toy companies get round them and make them with animal shapes and such like dolphins or rabbits so that they can legally sell them, i dont' understand the whole story but this is what my friend robin says. she works for a company called " pure romance " so if they pass that law and any of yall need something, let me know, she can hook yall up...hehe

Still, all kidding aside, I think those vibrating butt plugs should be banned. Those things are immoral. The rest of the stuff, I don't know.

Makes me sick. As if there aren't other more pressing issues to deal with. They are worried about some old married woman using her dildo. Give me a break. One thing I can't stand about this country is how so many people are afraid of sex and nudity. Mean while we have mexicans and cubans and god knows who else jumping our boarders and poluting out society.
The reason kids are having sex at 12 years old is because parents are too afriad of the word sex to teach their kids about it in the first place.
Maybe they better ban the sale of Bananas? Or how about cucumbers? What if she uses her fingers?
I love my country, but we can bread some of the biggest bunch of friggen idiots this planet has ever seen.
Why are so many people afraid of skin?
EDIT
(http://www.politicsnationwide.com/Photos/5394.jpg)
Is that him???
If it is no wonder he hates dildos. What woman would touch him. Friggin moron.

I think registration is the answer.
You have to pass a multi choice test on safe use (never switch it on unless you intend to use it, know your target, never point it at anything you don't intend to use it on etc.etc ....) and register the serial number and type with the local church.
Anything over a certain length will be classified as an assualt toy as it clearly has no use for the regular citizen and be banned but they would likely as not appear on the black market .....
Sale of jellies, lubricants and other consumables would only be through state run stores ( the exisiting liquor stores would be the best option).
Authorities would be on the lookout for marital aid militia who keep blow-up dols hidden behind bookcases and specially soundproofed bedrooms in the basement.
Anyone hear dueling banjos ? ........................

Sounds somewhat familiar. You want something like this ?:
The Reich Citizenship Law was intended to deprive those "not of German blood" of all political rights; the Blood Protection Law, in contrast, was designed to separate Jews from non-Jews in the sphere of reproductive and familial relations. Sexual traffic between Germans and Jews was outlawed as "racial pollution" ("Rassenschande"); violations of the law could be punished by imprisonment in the years before the war and by death after the outbreak of war.
Replace "German" with "American" and "Jew" with "Mexican" ?
