ST. PETERS, MO. -- A driver who suffered a heart attack and crashed into a guardrail was saved by a defibrillator salesperson and two nurses who happened to pass by.

The salesperson, Steve Earle, was transporting an automated external defibrillator, a device used to shock the heart into a normal rhythm.

"When I saw what was happening, I jumped out and instinctively grabbed the AED, just in case," Earle said.

Two nurses stopped when they saw the wreck last Friday and began performing CPR on the driver, Carolyn Holt.

The defibrillator restored her pulse, and Holt was recovering in a hospital this week.

"Two RNs, a man that was able to get her out of the vehicle, the man with the AED -- that just doesn't happen," said Mary Blome, one of the nurses.

I'm a big believer in kharma and destiny. This is a pretty good example.

I'm a big believer in karma also, but my instinct on hearing this (no doubt miraculous) story is that it was fluke not fate.

people suffer heart attacks in cars often, i know someone whos step father died in the same way. Its bound to happen sooner or later when someone is close by that can help and in comparison to the number of times the person isnt saved, or is saved without the buzzer it isnt miraculous so much as convinient.

then again, maybe the guy had just started his job today, maybe the nurses had made a decision to not go to the usual coffee shop that morning for lunch, maybe the driver had taken a different route to get to the cake shop?

the story on its own has a reasonable karmic value but without the details as to how and why, it is hard to determine a fate or a convinience.

Once recovered, she decides to sue for illegal practice of medicine, burns to her chest, cracked ribs,…and sexual assault…….

GTF_OUTA_HERE  That is incredible if true.  Screw the emergency phones on the side of the high way, defibrillators everywhere LOL.
