Man argues at ticket counter. Gets mad. Grabs officer's gun and shoots him. Other officers shoot and kill man. Society benefits.

I prefer when those guys take out themselves without hurting anyone else.
Thoughts to the patrolman in critical condition and his family.

Don't they holster their frickin guns? DARE officer in 5th grade said after he had a punk grab his and shoot him, the department got new holsters that you "have to know how to work it to get it out". To me, it looks like a leather strap with a button with maybe a secondary strap. Thoughts to the officer, good riddance to the dead one.

A strap with a button is a bad idea. They make special "weapon retention" holsters where your weapon can only be drawn from a certain position and angle. You simply train yourself to draw that way every time, and draw by muscle memory (how you should draw anyway).
-
Special holsters that make it hard to get the weapon are not a fool proof way to keep the weapon. It is possible to break and or tear them. None of you were there so you have no clue what equipment he had or the circumstances under which the weapon was obtained.
At least he won't be a threat or a problem to anyone ever again. I sincerely hope the Officer recovers.
