Title: RIP - Pierre Clostermann
Post by: Replicant on April 29, 2006, 11:37:55 AM
Not sure if this has already been posted but I've only just learnt of the passing of the great French fighter ace Pierre Clostermann who died on 22 March 2006.  A full obituary can be found here. (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,60-2111257,00.html)

Although I haven't played AH2 for over 1 1/2 years, if my memory is correct the Hawker Tempest in AH is modelled on the 3 (Fighter) Squadron plane flown by Clostermann.

Also, another ace has gone - Wg Cdr 'Bunny' Currant.  Obituary (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,60-2126666,00.html)

May they both RIP!

You're correct, the Tempest JF-E with a red propeller hub cover (term?) was Pierre Clostermann's "Le Grand Charles".

RIP to those heroes.
