Thought I would post something about my experiences flying the Mossie in Tour 75 in the MA.
There have been a few threads about the overall effectiveness of the Mosquito as a fighter there, and so I decided for that, and some other reasons (like I felt like it :) ), that I would use it as my "primary ride" and just see what could be done with it.
My over all impression was it handles surprisingly good compared to older versions of AH.
The "nose bounce" it used to have is gone, thank god, and its very stable as a firing platform. Firepower is, to say the least, incredible. It will evaporate a fighter from a good burst. Lots of ammo too.
It turns very well! I was able to stay with a surprising # of very "hot" single engined fighters in combats and force them to break, or pursue them to a kill.
Diving ability is mixed. It dives very nicely, but there is a speed limit of @ 500 mph before you shed parts, but if you keep it under the limit, its very stable. Sort of like a Ki-84 for diving.
Rate of climb is "average" at best, 2.5k-3k per min at sea level, not anything to brag about, and most 1944-45 fighters will out climb it, but it does retain energy in a zoom climb very well.
As a low alt (under 10k) bomber killer, it really does well. As a base defense fighter, again, pretty darn good.
Low level speed is good, @ 330 WEP at SL, and it can get away from some assilants given enough lead time. Helpfull to "get out of the crud", and get some alt back to re engage in a big furball.
I would say one of the downsides to using it is the glee which some attack you when you fly it, in other words, it gets the attention of a perked ride, even though its not. Many assume its an ez kill so thery come right over, and so the extra attenttion can be a detriment! Thats life though, its not the only a/c like that.
Overall, I must say, I had a lot of fun in it.
:aok

It catches fire too easily.

Nice man.

Catches fire easily and burns for HOURS before finally dying.

I love the Mossy, It's one of my favorite rides. Like you said; alot of people will attack you, and it's mainly due to them thinking it's going to be an easy kill. Them you turn into them and turn fight and they freak when there being torn up....LOL...

Only real bad thing bout it is if you load to much fuel no need for more than 50% really is it becomes a brick it seems and it is a GIANT target. And it is very hard to see out the back for it has many blindspots. Plus it is made of wood.:lol But as an attacker it is great.

Yes, absolutely, it has the range of a bomber (more than an hour with full tanks at max pwr), but does not need all that gas for a fighter sortie of 10-20 miles (MA). 50% gas gives you the same range as a Spitfire with a full fuel load, if not more, @ 35 minutes. As long as you watch your consumption its usually not an issue.
The views, when customized, ar as good as the P-38s is, imho. I didnt find them unduly difficult.

One of the things Mossie pilots bragged about was being able to go to Germany and back with the same bombload as a B-17...... only a lot faster. :)

rl mossy was an incredible bird but it didnt fight planes 2 or 3 years ahead of its time...ah mossy is a complete mess minus the guns and speed if u attacked at a great advantage.

There is a lot about it that is taken out of context. For starters, the FB VI is a 1943-44 a/c, so its not entirely out of place in the MA. It is not a 1941 a/c as some have sometimes posted here.
However, and I have said this in other threads...it never did day time air superiority missions in WW2, and was never really designed for that. It was a night fighter and fighter-bomber in its "fighter" role, it was never intended to do what Spits and Mustangs did in the RAF/RCAF. Its real missions were more "attack" orientated.
However, I think its AH modelling is ok, I think some folks ask too much of it in an arena full of single engined fighters.

No argument from me. Perhaps we will get some of the later varients like the Mosquito XVIII when HTC redoes it as well. Its the same as the Spitfire, I mean, which one? there are Spit Is and Spit XVIs, and they are hardly the same, are they?

the heat of a bullets near miss, or perhaps even the enemys muzzle blasts sets it aflame.

you are ahead of me squire.
This tour I'm doing F6F & mossie tour. I already had a few flights in the Mossie since the last patch and I think the FM change improved it a little.
The NASTY spins are still there, but are harder to get into. It's a little like driving a hot car - grip is good untill suddenly it gives and you find yourself up a tree (or wraped around it). Getting out of it has become easier as well.
When stall fighting, the flaps are effective (though they come out late), but there is a yaw tendency to the left so it perform much better on left turns and rudder is more effective to the left.
Climb is actually good (ok, I'm so used to the P47 that anything else is "good") when taking less than 50% fuel (never needs more and can do even with 25%+DT). With full bombs it still can pull better than 3000 fpm on WEP till about 6-7k then it drops to 2.7kfpm. This means 2-3 min WEP climb and you are set.
I'm looking forward for doing a tour in it.

There are a few things -
1) FB VI series 2 (1943) carried rockets like ours.
2) These were not fitted with flame dampers only the series 1 delivered with flame dampers.
3) They rarely caught fire, ours is a tinderbox.
4) Nice to have the option for the 4000lb Cookie (officially called 'Blockbuster') bomb. Already in-game carried by the Lanc.
