Title: Oups, I've been fired. :(( help needed
Post by: SFRT - Frenchy on October 19, 2001, 12:55:00 AM
I had some arguments with my supervisor which happens to be the best friend of the chief pilot. They finally terminated me yesterday as a flight instructor. The official reason was that I missed a meeting, gave my pay check 1 day late and gave a scheduling request 2 hours late.

They couldn't nail me on my student performance as my students received grades way superior to the school average. Some students wrote letters telling how pleased their were by the relationship I could establish with them, how well I prepared them and how dedicated I was to their succes.

I knew those guys were after me, they finally could find an "official reason". School paperwork is definitly more important than the student preparation ... my mistake, I thought I was working in a flight school.

I'm pretty anoyed because I'm a foreign working in US, INS paperwork is a bit of a pain and employees run away from it. If anyone is looking for a flight instructor or any flying job, please let me know. I may have a big mouth and say the things that I don't like, but I'm dedicated to my profession and the interest of my students.

In advance, thank you for your time.

I've been in a union for so long, this is pretty much unheard of, and there is usually alot more to the story. Don't matter, and it ain't my business.

However, there are laws for protecting getting fired without just cause regardless. Heap in the foreigner INS deal (believe me, Im on my 2nd year trying to get my fiance here, I KNOW) and they got a real PR/legal discrimination problem.

With that said, if your get in a bind, the "Creamo Hope For AH Diehard Oldtimers Future Foundation" could pry pick up a month's AH dues if yer in need.  :)

After payday though, sheesh!

(Ask Santa, my ex-roommate sent me old mail collected a year old awhile back, and his joystick shippment payment stub was in there! Damno! They shipped it back after 30 days  :) )

Sorry to hear this Frenchy.  I am also not familiar with your trade or industry.  But I bet sites like monster.com may help.  There is an airport near my home.  If you want me to check for you I will.

now now, cut the guy some slack. I think that only the very best comedians dare to make jokes like Jochen's. They are not afraid of the "political correctness" that America is always overwhelmed with after something bad happened. Just because it is (you have to admit it) funny AND shocking, it is a joke that really hits the spot. Anyways, that's my point of view. It's not like he insulted anyone.

Daniel Webster is a great school.  I was hoping to go there or Embry Riddle.  [Mini-rant]I was approved for both, couldn't afford either.  Good ole Clinton-omics...if your parents work for a living and are somewhat above the poverty line, no money for you.  If you are an irresponsible bimbo, have 4 kids from 4 different fathers, and are on foodstamps and every other government program, you've struck the lottery.  Being an ordinary white guy gets you no where, if you are of some sorta minority/descent, you've got a chance of good funding. [Mini rant over]

Anyways, check out Daniel Webster, great school.  They are in Nashua NH, hope you like the cold!  I'm 250 miles north in Bangor (BGR).  Wish we had some decent planes here and an FBO for you here, but all we have are the beatup/battered Skyhawks.  I'd love to get my Instrument and High Performance tickets (although no hi-performance birds are available around here).

Keep us advised, we care!

Best of luck mate!

I don't recall if you are actually French, but if so - or possibly if another EU national (I don't know) - there's a bit of France on the North American continent so you could have residency there and work in the US or Canada. And I don't mean Quebec.

I'll bet any relative of the victims in the Pentagon and WTC would be VERY insulted by his remark.

Political Correctness be damned!
I didn't know a soul in either place and it's an insult IMO.

Go check out the AGW off topic section for more *gems* from jochen, sometimes I wonder if he's lemsko under an alias.

I fail to see humor in some low life noodlesuckers flying planes into buildings.

You're talking about the St-Pierre-et-Miquelon Islands? They're rather out of the way, and in Canada I think you need to live there 6 months a year to be considered a "resident", so that may not be possible.

About Nashua: say, I have distant family there. Their grandparents went there at the beginning of the century. Last I heard, some of the descendants like to learn French as a way to learn about their origins. Maybe you could double up as a French teacher, Frenchy.  ;)

New Hampshire is one incredibly beautiful state. I went to Laconia this summer on my bike. If you like outdoors, this looks really like a nice place to live.
