Title: Downloadable Terrains
Post by: Brenjen on May 03, 2006, 07:44:32 PM
My question is does it help the stability of the game or anything if you download a terrain map & place it in the AHII folder? I mean, why are they available for download? Any specific purpose?

P.S. if the answer is painfully obvious....I'll do my own *DOH*:D

Some people prefer to download them from the website. People with slower internet connections benefit the most from this because they can choose to download it at any time instead of waiting for the download when they want to play.

Yep, you can download all the terrains and not have to wait when a new terrain shows up after a reset,

O.K. I suppose it makes sense. I never thought of the time it takes to D/L the terrain rotation on dial up.

Another reason to download a terrain is for H2H use.  My squad leader had set up a H2H to help in my training but I couldn't get into it. Turns out he was using a terrain I had not yet downloaded. Once I did it worked fine. I guess the download is not automatic for H2H as it is in the MA.

badhorse, actually it should autodownload any new terrain in H2H as well. But maybe the hosts router settings have to do with that.

Side note: Another thing i rather get from the HTC homepage then via autodownload are the skins.
