"The 47 Ronin" is a brand new squadron to Aces High
and to paraphrase a Marine Corps recruiting slogan: "I'm looking
for a few good men."
This will be wonderful opportunity not only to build a squadron
from the ground up but to become an integral part of it as it
develops and coalesces from a mere daydream to a functioning
fighting machine in "The Main Arena" of "Aces High"
It's more important to me to get good people than it is to
acquire "good sticks". While a combination of the two would
be ideal, don't sweat it if your fighting skills are a bit weak.
That can be worked on. I could use a bit of help myself, actually!
Right now I'm looking to set up a command cadre. I'm going
to require a good X.O. and a Sergeant Major. As well, if you've
got a skill (or would like to learn) in fighters, attack planes
(jabos), bombers or ground vehicles "The 47 Ronin" are in need
of your services.
Committing to a squad is a big decision and certainly one
that nobody should take lightly. It takes time, effort, dedication,
and an ability to work in unison with your fellow squaddies during
combat. My hope is that in return, I can offer you the pride and
fun associated with a squadron which goes into battle each week
knowing that your fellow squadmates will be there to help you
in anyway possible. Be it covering your six during a jabo run,
or clearing your tail of the 3 La7's trying to run you down.
I'm looking for highly motivated, team-oriented warriors with
a sense of honor and fair play.
We'll be flying and driving virtually everything that Aces
High has to offer during the course of time. And when "T.O.D."
is released, we'll be giving that a look as well.
Some of you may know me from flying Air Warrior and Aces High
off an on over the course of the past ten years. I hope I have
left you with a favorable impression. I will be bringing my
experience as a pilot, my leadership and operations knowledge,
and a whole bowlfull of enthusiasm. I served as a Sergeant in
The United States Marine Corps and have a very good grasp on
leadership, cooperation, and accomplishment. You won't have
to worry about being shortchanged or constrained by a C.O.
who isn't worthy of his ration of grog everyday.
If I can get the pilots, I can guarantee you that this'll be
a squadron you'll be proud to call your own.
If you're unsure of joining this or any other squadron, hook up
with me online when I'm flying (I'm usually tuned to "144" and
fly as a "Rook" only.) and we can get to know each other and
see if it's a good "fit" or not. I fly as "OddCAF".
We have an opportunity here to build something from scratch;
to mold it into something we can all be proud of. I offer each
and everyone who might be interested a chance to guide it
from its inception which is right now.
I heartily encourage any and all with any interest to contact me at:
cholmes-usmc@nospam.comcast.net (remove the "nospam" in the address
before sending.)
I look forward to hearing and flying with you,
Regards,
Oddball
Commanding Officer
"The 47 Ronin"
PS: If you are on a "two week free trial" offer from HTC, please
do not reply. I am looking only for pilots with active/paid
subscriptions.

Hiya Pooface.
Thanks for the kind words, old boy. May Her Majesty, The Queen's drool never find its way into your porridge. :D
Once "The 47 Ronin" is up and running, I would be pleased to run some cooperative missions with ya. I trust "The Duxford Dolls" is coming along nicely. This looks to be a lot of work starting from scratch, but I'm actually looking forward to the challenge.

Bah, we'll be flying a bit of everything on squad night missions, and during the week it'll be all "planes of choice". :)

it's good fun :)
hard getting it going at the beginning and getting members in, but it takes off after a bit :)

Good luck Odd. Anyone looking for a good squad with a good C.O. can't go wrong here.:aok
-
Hi Slash and Bear,
Thanks for the support! It's a fascinating endeavor starting from scratch, but I think the end result will be worth the effort, and I'm looking forward to running coordinated operations with other squads when our Squad Night rolls around. Right now, there's a myriad of small details (and some large ones) that require immediate attention, and I've noted a serious decline in my availlable flight time over the past couple of days.
:cry
Best regards,
And my compliments to all the Hell's Angels !

Good luck Odd.
Great guy to fly with if anyone looking. Taught me all i know and more. ;)
-
Odd!
Let me know also when ya wanna do some Joint Ops. The 187th would gladly run some missions with you guys.
:aok
-
Hey Odd,
When you get around to filling out the 'Morale Enhancement' supply procurement forms, be sure that my Sake is the 'Kentucky Straight' type.
-
Well, all I can say is, with Odd and Drone running the show, you can't go wrong here. If your looking for a Squad, give the "47 Ronin" serious consideration. In the past these guys have lead two of the most successful Squads to grace the skies of AW and AH.
I really struggled with my Squad decision about ten years ago in AW, it was a toss up between the Mares, CAF and JG27. I'm glad I chose the Nightmares, but Odd and company would have been a lot of fun as well :).
Odd and Drone, let us know if we can be of any assistance as you start the next generation of great Squads, we are very excited for you!
Cya Up!

-
Best of luck to Odd and Drone and your new squad, you will put a great squad together i am certain. The Hawks would love to do joint Ops with you guys anytime you see us around.
See you in the unfriendly skies :D
-
Gentlemen,
My sincere thanks to you all for the kind words and in Killin's case, the blatent lie. :D
An update on the squad: we're up to a total of five "pile-its"
at this point and we are progressing on a slow and steady course.
I'd initially figured that if we had a half dozen pilots after a six month period, that we'd be on track. (Rome was not built in a day, you know.)
It now appears we'll exceed that expectation before a month has expired. Once I am able to field 6 pilots on any given "Squad Night", we'll begin formal operations. I'm very much excited about working with other squadrons whenever possible on our "Squad Nights". It is my hope that working in conjunction with other squads will not only develop a sense of comraderie in the squad, but will also provide all those pilots involved with the opportunity to engage in some larger-sized missions which might not otherwise be possible.
Here's the link to our website. (Shaddup, we're not HTML weenies!)

Thank you Odd & Drone for creating this new squad! I am honored to be invited in as a "Plankowner".
As I looked for a new squad I couldn't think of a better opportunity than being lead into battle by Odd and Drone. Can I keep my P40? lol.:aok
-
in Killin's case, the blatent lie
what ever do you mean Sensei Odd?
Glad to see it coming together for ya.:aok

Hi Killin',
What I mean is...as my beloved "nana" used to say is:
"You're full of malarkey.":D
We've got our website up and running. Still a long ways to
go with it, but it's looking dang decent now. Kudos to Drone
for setting up the site, as well as putting up with my absolutely
horrendous grasp of the voodoo of "HTML".

Good to see you on track and 'happier' with the game of killin! :aok I am taking it lone wolf for a while and debate on what to do with everything right now.And the nice thing is I actually got an invite from another Squad this past weekend and am actually think they might be next on my list. All depends on the requirements with them as I only have 5 months left here and then we will see what happens. And yes Odd... Rome was built in a day, I live in Italy, I know! Besides, the Colosseum is not that big! :lol And KillnU shot me down this weekend...meany!! :D
Good luck with the Squad, I know it will fly smoothly.... you can fly with half a wing right? :O
ODM! & Semper Fi! My friend and be well....

Odd is one of the best folk in the game. Always glad to see ya, and likes killin stuff to boot! If not in a squad now Id be joining the 47.
-
Thank you for all the kind words, guys.
We're continuing to make forward progress and I'm
quite pleased with not only our performance and ability to
work together, but with the people we have aboard.
I consider myself lucky to be among such a fine group
of people.
Here's the link to our website. http://www.fortysevenronin.com/ (http://www.fortysevenronin.com/)
On it can be found our
current Roster, bios of some of the pilots, a Recruiting area,
and my personal favorite "OPORDS" or "Operations Orders".
Here each week will be posted the mission that we will be
running on our formal Squad Night on Thursdays.
Squad Night for us begins at 9PM Eastern, but the first hour
we'll just be running informal sweeps, jabo runs, etc...
An hour later, at 10PM Eastern, we'll be getting "formal" and
get the herd together for our weekly mission. This will always
be posted on our website, and all Rook squadrons are
invited to fly with us for these missions. I figure, the more the
merrier.
Unfortunately, with last night's "patch" download and the subsequent
confusion and server problems it entailed, I was forced to push
this week's mission back until next Thursday, the 8th.
Best regards,
And my thanks to all for the kind words,

Hey i was just looking through the forum and I found this squadron. Anychance of a bit of info about it? What time do you fly and where? What planes do you fly? Could you let me know because at the mo, im really interested in joining
-
Hi Macleod,
Thank you for your interest in "The 47 Ronin". Here is a link
to our squadron websitehttp://www.fortysevenronin.com/ (http://www.fortysevenronin.com/) .
Once there, you can hit the "About Us" link on the left,
along with a couple of the others and get a full explanation of
what we're about. The website can explain things in much more
detail than I am able to in here. There is an email link on the "Recruiting"
page which you can use to contact me if you like.
In a nutshell, however, we are a group of good natured, Aces High pilots
who enjoy flying just about anything and everything and we enjoy
"winging" each other whenever two or more of us are in the
"Main Arena".
We fly as Rooks, and once a week have a formal "Squad Night", in which
all of the squadron is encouraged to participate. On this night, we will
usually have a mission set up in advance (posted on the website under
the "OPORDS" link. These missions may have a theme to them, such
as a German fighter sweep, British ground attack mission, American bomber run with escorts, etc... It changes from week to week. Some
week's we'll just do "planes of choice" for Squad Night where
pilots can just fly whatever they like.
After the first sortie or two on squad night, pilots are free, as
they are during the entire rest of the week to fly whatever plane
they desire. We do not have now, nor will we ever have in the
future a restriction on what pilots may or may not fly. We like to
do it all. ;)
Hit the website at the link above and give it a good, thorough
going over, and if you're still interested, you are more than welcome
to tune channel "144" in the Main Arena (Rooks) and fly with us
to see what we're like.
I look forward to meeting you should you decide to follow-through.
In the interim, good hunting!

Oddball

Ive had a look at the wbsite and am still interested. But what time roughly do you fly at. Being in the UK, This is kindof vital to know
-
Macleod,
The majority of our pilots fly between about 7 or 8PM Eastern Time U.S. until about 1 or 2 AM, with pilots rotating in and out.

Well, almost two months have gone by since the inception of "The 47 Ronin".
During that time, our ranks have expanded such that we now number a total of
22 pilots, of which 18 fly actively.
At the bottom of this post, I'll put up a direct link to the "Roster" page
so you can see a list of our current pilots, and another link to
the "Main Page" which will have links to the various
areas of our website.
As we continue to fly together, I am watching with fascination as the various
personalities and flying styles come together as a group. For the most part,
it seems like we are doing mostly fighter sweeps with a lot of "jabo" runs
put together when the situation requires it.
It has been a lot of hard work, effort and patience by all of us to get to the point
where we are at now, and to say I'm proud of each and every one of my pilots would
be an understatement. All have and continue to fight honorably and selflessly.
Our integration into the overall "Rook Empire" has been completed I think, and we are now
at the early stages of being an "established"
squadron. ie: people are becoming more and more familiar with us as
a team. Our squadron channel I now refer to as "the social butterfly network",
with a small cadre of Rooks from other squadrons hopping "on channel"
and flying with us if they're in need of, or want some company.
This is exactly what I envisioned when I decided to use a "tuned" channel for vox comms
as opposed to "squad". It has worked out quite well, and we will continue to do things
that way for the forseable future.
Our "discussion board" on the website is pretty busy and hopefully will continue
in that same vein. The interaction between the Ronin in there
is not only amusing but enlightening in some regards. I have learned for
example that "White Dragon Flight" is the one that blondes prefer.
:D (Thank you for pointing that out to me, Phtom.)
While we do not actively recruit within the "Main Arena". ie: "Hey 'Judo339 ,
would you like to join our squadron", we continue
to look for new members.
If you or someone you know is looking for a squadron to fly with,
I heartilly encourage you to hop over to the Rook side some Thursday
evening at 9PM Eastern, tune "144" vox and text, and tag along with us.
No pressure, no gimmicks, just kick back and have fun. That is our
"Squad Night", the one night a week where we put on our "tuxes"
and fly "formally", with pre-determined missions put together and
disseminated via email and posted on our discussion board several
days earlier.
And even if you're not lookin' for a squadron and want to fly with
a bunch of good natured, fun loving pilots, join us anytime "on channel"
and say "hey" and do a few sorties with us.
Thursday night is the best time to catch us, as it's "Squad Night" and
that's when we'll have the largest turnout. However with the pilots we
have and with that, the varying work schedules, etc.. Ronin can usually
be found online during most of the day and evening; the majority
flying from about 8PM Eastern onwards.
To those of you who are not "Rook" and who wouldn't even
think of swapping, I look forward to flying against you and
wish you good hunting and good luck.
Anyway, I thought an update on the squad was in order after
8 weeks. So, this is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Oldcaf is one of the nicest guys in the game. He also makes great bait. You could do far worse than join this squadron.
-
This would be a great squad to join! I have heard nothing but good about it and the same can be said for the leadership.
OddCAF I have one word for you. Squad Operations! Ok that was two words. :)
-
Furball and Daddog,
Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. Furball's absolutely
correct; I DO make good bait. :D
Daddgog, I've tried "Squad Operations" a few times, but
pulled out due to the fact the level of commitment was so deep.
I'm pretty tied up for now with "Ronin Squad Operations"
at the moment.
Drone, my X.O. is very interested in it and has recently signed
on with Ski and his "Shillelaghs". I'm sure at some point I'll
become intrigued enough to see what he's up to in there
to join in once again.
Best regards, and good hunting!

This squad is about Laughs and Flying. Our squad channel should be recorded and sold for $10 a night. It wouldn't disappoint either, especially when Scotch, Bj229r and myself get on a roll.
