Allied Air Superiority Makes the Difference.
In action over Italy today the USAAF unleashed a series of attacks along the Gustav Line. Surprise was achieved and a confused Luftwaffe took to the air to meet the attackers.
The secret Allied jammers made communication difficult for the Luftwaffe and aided the Allies in their attacks. American iron has been steadily building up in Foggia, while the Axis is forced to field fewer planes due to the daylight bombing campaign over Germany. These two factors were the difference in the Allied victory.
Critics of the days action looked at the number of planes lost and wondered if it was all worth it. Many bomber crews did not return and many new P-38's and P-51's were damaged or shot down. The Allied command is wondering if there will be enough planes to defend against enemy attacks .. which are expected.
On the ground the attack was a huge success. Several airfields and vehicle depots were destroyed. Unfortunately the troops on the line were unable to use this attack to their advantage and they gained little ground.
The Italian theatre is heating up, will the Allied be able to break the line?
Scores
Allied
Kills - 370 points
Objects - 917 points
Total - 1287 points
Axis
kills - 675 points
Objects (left standing) - 147 points
Total - 882
I was surprised at the numbers, Axis was WAY outnumbered to begin with. Those that flew did a fine job of racking up some kills. It was a lopsided frame in that I designed it to be a mass Allied attack. The Axis were in trouble before the numbers problem.
There were several complaints, and they can be addressed here or in another thread.
Frame 3 orders will go out tomorrow. Look for the shoe to be on the other foot.

lots of fun
Allies
:aok

Could not make it last night. Long week. Was peeking at the logs.
Axis shot down 86 aircraft and Allied shot down 84 aircraft. Considering how lop sided the numbers were, (139 Allied pilots vs 97 Axis pilots) I am surprised the Axis did so well in the air. Of course the points on the ground for the Allied side made a huge difference. That may get turned around for frame 3 as the Allied side will be defending next time from what I understand. Axis almost had a double ace. WTG Shreck in the Unforgiven squad with the 8 kills!
-
Shreck got half of them after the rest of the squad was out of action. But then since he doesn't even have a mic, he's gotten good at solo.
JK, he's one of the few guys I know that can get on a 6 and type at the same time.:D
I don't work too well with others AND I do have a mic:rofl

Is it true the allied had a 60 man advantage at the start of frame 2?

Thanx for the compliment Daddog..Shreck is one of our silent killers in the squad. I also want to add that even tho the numbers were kinda lopsided, I can honestly say that it was a fun frame. Lots of action. Of course seeing that many 26's at a time would make any defender drool......lol I look forward to these events as they keep gettin better and better. I everyone that participates in these.. and to the CM staff... keep up the great work:aok

That is good to hear Mystic. It will make Skernsk pleased to read your comment, he was pretty worried and upset with the numbers being so off. :)
I am looking forward to F3 since I missed F2. :)

The allies had a whooping 42 man advantage, but considering we may have had 10 to 15 buff pods, the allies could have easily put up 60 more aircraft than the axis.

Axis numbers were way down, hopefully squads can pick up attendance for frame 3.
From most that I spoke to on the Allied side they had a good time, lots of action, for the first portion. Then it was like trying to stop the tide.....
-
I remember looking at the #'s early in the frame and I thought it was around 140 to 80, or something close. It must have been after some engagements had already taken place.
-
Frame 2 was fun but not so much when you get shot down early....RATZ!!!!
Anyhow....I will not be up for Frame 3....reality rules and I will be recovering from my 5th knee reconstruction that afternoon. My AH time will be severely limited for the upcoming months. I will most likely be on a CPM..continuous passive motion machine for the next 30 days after the surgery so I will be laptopping it at best.
to the designers and participants of FSO....you all have me hooked now...I blame Filth and Roc and MGD for that....LOL!
GO AXIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Logs show 139 Allies, 97 Axis. Still, that is 42 players more on the Allied side.
Sides were divided up almost exactly 50-50. All we can do is hope the Axis squads have a better turnout. One a the few things that is out of our control is attendance, I'm crossing my fingers for Frame 3.

Skernsk....I truly wish I could attend but it will be impossible that night. BTW thanks for helping me with AA.....you guys have me hooked on that...!
-
Good luck with the surgery TG!
-
Thanks Filth! Getting nervous as usual....not very comfortable with being put under anesthesia or the knife.....we will see how it goes.
-
Good luck with the surgery TG12! Getting ready to play some more AA, so recover quickly :)
-
The one and only time I had to go under was for my appendix. This was like 6 yrs ago now. As a matter of fact it was the week of the Indy AW Con. I almost went to the Con and after the appendix attack I was glad I didnt.
I was nervous about being knocked out, but I went into some weird zone of shutdown. I just totally relaxed and went with it. Like my mind knew my body needed to do that.
-
Glad you got your appendix taken care of Filth....that can be dangerous!
ROC......I am ALWAYS ready for AA. Been playing it quite a bit online (wife ack less severe as I can play with the laptop in the family room....LOL).
Let me know when you guys are playing....Ill be playing today and tomorrow for a bit. On a positive note....I can play it without the use of the knee so that may be my time killer/waster in my recovery period!!!!
-
Just make sure you have one of your squaddies call you later in the afternoon after your surgery. There's nothing like trying to hold a conversation with your squad CO while you're still groggy from the general anesthesia. *points at daddog*
I barely remember it, but I was thinking "who the heck am I talking to? I don't know this person! Why are the calling me, and how did they know I had surgery today??? OOOOHHHH, it's Daddog!!!" :) You should try it! It's a blast!
seriously, good luck with the surgery. :)
-
Thanks everyone! I head in about 12 hours....NOT looking forward to it but it has to be done.
Nifty,
I noticed you were in Pcola! I was stationed at Hurlburt for 7 years and I still have a house in Fort Walton Beach!
Small world huh?
-
:) Yup, been here my whole life except for college. Guy I work with retired from the Air Force and still lives over near Hurlburt. He gets to play with Hwy 98 traffic every morning and evening! Lucky him! ;)
-
Nifty,
Thats why I will NEVER move back there!
