The C-47 Skytrain had holes in their windows for the troopers to shoot trough (for a certain feeling of defence)
It'd be nice to see this working in Aces High aswell! You could have up to 10 gunners, each with his own window.
Ofcourse you'd have to shoot with rifles, not with automatic weapons.
(or for the real freaks, something like this :) )

Yes, it's a Vietnam-era C-47 (gunship) which I added to get some laughs
-
To be serious and ruin the funny moment, the C-47 was actually armed at one time or another in WW2. The rooskies took the desing from the C-47 and modified it with an MG on the top, not too powerful but at least it was something. Now if only I could remember it's name.... (Did they even have Mini-Guns in WW2?)
-
They had mini guns in the Civil War I believe, mini guns on planes not sure about.

well, the greatest humor was the double negative in the topic title... I was scratching my head for about 10 minutes...
Not Undefenceless...
Hmm...
I know that defenceless means 'without defense'
So I assume 'undefenseless' would be to have a defense?
But this is NOT UNdefenseless... So, It does not have a way to not defend itself...:huh :cry
My brain hurts.

Kurt ur thinking way too much.......especially over a statement from frank.
I, however, am thinking about what frank was thinking about when he thought up that statement, and all i can think about is frank thinking BAAAAAAAAAA!
Got it?

Those spookie gun ships in vietnam were badnews. I was watchin them on tv and they used to dump retarded amounts of bullets on to the nva.

Gah! You guys are completely missing the point!
In WWII, the C-47's had holes in their windows. The troopers could stick their guns trough to give some defencive fire.
The minigun picture has absolutely nothing to do with my request, although it was quite funny!

Unfortunately the C-47 "sky train" did not exist in WWII as a configuration and if you look at any of the "dakota's" from D-day you will notice that they had NO windows on the sides other than the cockpit windows.

The one i have been in did, they were based on the civil airliner DC-3, as for gun ports, i dont think so. I think that the gun ports would have been useless and made the interior very drafty and very cold :)

Yeah I don't think they had miniguns on aircraft in WW2? Especially not a C47!

Look again...All C-47s were built with windows. Every photo I have seen of D-Day C-47s show windows.
Find a copy of C-47 Skytrain in Action by Larry Davis (Squadron-Signal).

Thats out there, but still not that far. I find it funny as soon as i leave brookyln everything changes completely. Its nice but very different from what im used to. My friend lives in east rockaway which isnt that far from brooklyn, i think its the first exit on the high way, and the its a HUGE difference. 20 minutes on the highway makes a difference.

Yep I was wrong about the windows, I would have sworn that the D-day c-47's didn't have them.

those were gatling guns, though a similar concept they were operated by hand and not with electric motors as the minigun are. also miniguns fire rifle ammunition wheras the gatling gun had calibres up to 1".
