what is it with the dweebs trying to take the fighter town bases? lol. when we tell them to get lost they start telling us that we're being weird and that we should go someplace else rofl, in fighter town no less hahaha
poor noobs with no clue:rolleyes:
anyone else find this funny or just irritating after a certain point?
-
they really need to disable buffs/goons in FT ... they gave it to us to furball in ...
now watch next week the same dolts that were trying to grab ft bases will be crying in tanktown ..
-
With as many in FT. I don't see why you just don't go and pork Ord and troops.
Problem solved.
Take 3 min. of your time, throw in the 5 cannon rounds it takes to destroy the ord and troops and it's back to Furball time.
I sit and listen to tons of guys whine about FT getting porked (which to me is unessessary) but they seem to do more whinning about it, then taking the time to pork the strat.

the thing is i like flying buffs in FT lol. ploughing through a fight and getting 20 guys to chase after your manned b17s is great fun. it's just the constant stream of guys trying to take FT, and thinking it's either funny or the right thing to do:rolleyes:

if i see somebody in my country (knit) upin' buffs, I report 'em on ch200 so they can die quick.
and if the nme upin' buffs, I'll always go pork their ord.

2 La-7s can knock down ord at both fields in less than 15 mins. You can do it in a single sortie if the ack misses. That's what Stang and I did last night; easy enough if you don't mind a little proactive toolshedding.

BOO HOO!!!! GO TO THE DA IF YOU WANT TO DOGFIGHT!
The MA is for capturing bases, and helping your country win a pointless war that only lasts for 2 weeks until skuzzy comes in and resets it. GO TO THE DA AND DOGFIGHT.
FT is in your imagination, it doesnt exists! its just a point where three enemy bases meet. as far as im aware of if they wanted it fighters only they would put 40,000 foot mountians around the three bases. But they dont, its still a base that is SUPPOSED TO BE CAPTURED!
Again go to the DA and dogfight.THATS WHAT ITS THERE FOR!

Other peoples kids...you can't do anything with them ----------->Legally
-
LAN...I'm not a big Furball guy and rearly go to the FT's or TT's that are on certain maps. (Ofcourse I don't care who wins the war either) But it's just plain LAME to go there and take a base when this particular map has 100 other bases you can take.
I'm sorry; I just don't get that mentality...
besides you can win your war without taking a fighter town base.
-
If there's no body they can't prove murder.
Just a thought.
-
kill the barraks problem solved for 45 mins at the end of 45 mins kill them again.
tards are tards kill the troops and render FT tardless

Wow ... based on what I observed in FT last night, the hypocrisy meter in this thread is pegged.

Poo ... um ... it's FIGHTER TOWN ... ergo ... no need to dweeb around in buffs ... period.

Id like to also add to the thread that Im very upset with all the fighter dweebs ruining BUFF ALLEY. They cant seem to understand that this area is for bombers only. On the same note, what is the deal with all the land based planes invading the space specifically designated as the Naval Aviation Zone? We've got it clearly marked by putting it in the water (all blue and such), but instead of having true naval engagements with torpedo planes and dive bombers, we constantly have to deal with P-51s, Jugs and Lancasters. Im telling you its just so annoying.
The Dueling Arena contains a special terrain with separate areas for all types of game play including furballing, tanking, and canyon fighting.

had too much fun chasing after spixteens and lgays in an sbd lol. next time you're in FT give it a go, take something REALLY cruddy, makes for hilarious fights, especially when you get the whinging PM's about cheating and using a turny bomber:lol
and aztec we werent ackstarring, we were actually turnfighting in manned buffs, it was atleast some representation of a dogfight lol, everyone was laughing including all the guys that rammed us:) was a lot of fun
and wow, the ju88 is crazy lol, if only it had more than one forward firing guns, it's really great.

Hello all , im back in Ah after a 5 year stent ( 3 hour Tour ? ) Relearning my AH FM's and pretty much having a grand time. My take on ww2ol ( the game I have been playing ) is as a Flight sim it has a lot of problems, on the other hand it lets you do a lot of things the FM here wont. of course it's a differant game with differant models. I was one of a hand full of pilots who could turn a 109 with any plane in the game, I could hold a sustained turn with a 16 degree AOA untill my fuel ran out. I could hover a 109 on its tail for 15 min. so yes their are a few "loopholes" one could use. Cant do that here, but you can fight spittys in the vertical ,WW2ol is going nowhere, with the loss of several personell we ( the air guys) were told no new planes or work on the FM or Ammo and damage models for a long time, I have flow the 109 for 5 years and frankly the thought of flying the same plane for another 2 years was the last straw. The main thing I love about Aces high is the damage model , if you get guns on someone it's gona hurt, very fair and equal , and I luv it. So after 5 years of constant downgrading of the Luft , I finally gave up, AH while a giant furball for the most part seems at least to this player the fairest game around. and sence im here for the fun fair is good:lol
see ya in the skys, and no doupt in your gunsites for a while.:aok

You can't make a field uncapturable. But you CAN disable any particular aircraft, gun or vehicle at a particular field. It would not be difficult to disable C47s, LVTs and M3s at the fightertown fields, but it would require an AH person to do so whenever the map was reset.

Ive lost count around 50 times this weekend that rooks have run buffs into the knight base. Each time they upped buffs they didnt even get close to getting near the knight base. They just got slaughtered with pieces falling out of the sky. Im not saying bish dont fly buffs or knights in FT but rooks are far by the worst. About every 7-10 rook boxes Ive seen there has been maybe 1 bish or knight box.
I find those that fly buffs into FT are the skillless toolshedding griefers that wish they had enough skill to fly in FT and dont even have enough skill to fly a lgay7 or dweebfire 16.
They cant enjoy the fun others are having so they have to ruin others.
Frankly I have been in FT about 95% of my time since this map has been up so I pretty much can tell how many times Ive seen buffs rolled in.

What alt are these buffs normaly at?
If they are running any decent alt and they are Nit/Rook and I`m on , just shout.

All I saw was a constant stream of Bish and Knit bomber formations and toolshedders in FT. As many as 4 bomber formations at once from either side. And I was surprised at just *who* was in those Bish and Knit bombers, given some of the recent rants about "fun police."
And since I was at the Rook base I know with a pretty high level of certainty that the number of heavies lifting there was a fraction of the number that were inbound, not the other way around as you claim.
Say one thing. Do another. Then lie about it. At least you're consistent.
-
At least I'm honest about being Fun Police :D but I haven't bombed FT for a long time in that capacity and the last time I did was at 25K just to kill a FH or 2 and see who would come up to get the the nasty Fun Police guy (ME) ;) Only 1 109 did and he ended up looking like an 25K prop driven missile heading for the bish base. :p
Although I was gunning for a squadmate in there a couple days ago while he was dogfighting in his 24, up to the point where he pulled up to hard and ripped his wing off. :)
As far as seeing more formations from Bish, Knit or Rook I would guess the red guys stand out just a bit more then the green. Just my thought

We'll if HT doesn't remove the griefers from the MA and CT/TOD doesn't get rid of em then they are going to be following the same path.
Yeah WWIIO might suck, but telling us AH doesn't suck as much still sucks.
I was able to fly Friday night and I was thrilled that Donut was up, thank God. I have not had fun in AH since the last time I was on Donut.
It does crack me up tho, that the wannabees are in there in PTs, bombers and the like. But the skilless dweebs won't up a fighter, no way. LOLH
BTW I have no problems with Buffs in there to fight, you drop your eggs anywhere than in the drink and you are just another AHOLE.
If HT gave a crap about at least a third of his community, he would put a FT on each map and get rid of the griefers, end the community war between the Toolshed Heros and the Fighter Pilots and reinvigorate this game. Yeah they fall back on - "Oh it's just burn out".
We'll I would love to play this game, I am not burnt out, but when I log in and see crap for fights, hordes running away from each other and the like I just log and think about cancelling once and for all. When I see a FT filled with people having a blast I'm wishing I could play more.
Why does HT continue to let his game suffer when the solutions are easy, feasible and make sense? - I have no idea.
-
Cmon Dok - lets see some names.
-
I up B-17's in FT to hone my gunning skills. Some times I get 4-5 kills before they rip me apart. I don't actually try to bomb anything.. unless I see a PT boat...

When I was in there Saturday there was a lot of "Fighter Pilots" just attacking PT boats. PT boats didn't stay up very long. I just stay 1.5K away and ignore them.
I would guess if "Fighter Pilots" didn't attack them they would soon not be there due to boredom.
There were also "skilless dweebs" flying fighters, or didn't you notice that? I did and I aren't even an Uber Elite Skilled Fighter Pilut. :D

Problem is that FT has the same allure of a short transit flight to score-potatos and griefers of all denominations. And since it's just one map in the rotation, it's probably pretty low in the priority queue to fix.

YES, YES and YES. This thread would NEVER appear again! Simple!!! Please disable C47's from FT.

It's no different than TT, it is the job of the people who enjoy it to protect it. I have to regularly (about every 3 TT sorties), go in and take out troops and ord, so I can enjoy TT in peace.
If I see my own countrymen trying to capture one of the bases (unless it's for reset). I will ask them to stop, if they don't I'll call it out on the 200 channel what they're doing, if they act like jerks I'll give the coordinates of there goon/m3.

Stay away LOL - OK.
1) Friday night the furball was right over the PTs.
2) The dweebs in the fighters were flying into the PTs for protection
3) When your low on the deck dodging 3 or 4 bandits, sometimes you can't avoid dweebs in PTs.
I would guess if "Fighter Pilots" didn't attack them they would soon not be there due to boredom.
Crappy guess.

Um it's Fighter Town so why wouldn't I expect skilless, dweebs in fighters. Do I have to think for you too? Breath now! :lol
Hitting troops and ord is a fair solution for now, but is by no means a practical one. People are there for FT not to pork every 15 mins.
If this was not such an easy fix it would not be a issue.

i was attacking pts..they were the only thing i could focus my tunnel vision on and they didnt gang me with 10k alt :aok

hehehe jaxxo. So you and Stang eliminating us knights was a fluke right?

Okay…. Here we go again.
Nice to read some people are having a lot of fun and some are not having fun with the new map in regards to fighter town. I’ve written this post up to address some of the suggestions people have posted over the last couple of months since donut map has been in rotation.
When designing the map, with my friend who will go un-named for the duration of this post. We have discussed all the suggestions that have been posted about fighter town. They list from, increasing alt on the mountains, disabling ords, disabling troops, ect.. But we kept coming down to the conclusion; no matter what we implemented the intelligence of the normal player would be able to find a way around them all we could do is hope for the best.
In the initial AH1 Version the way we countered the player from taking the town, was to increase the field ack on the field by 10x fold. This we hoped would deture people from coming to the field and vulching it.
To stay within the limitation of the GAME”” and the map layout and field setup that hitech and skuzzy suggested we could NOT disable troops or ords at the fields. Because this would invalidate the map. It would also make it unfair if people did bring troops over the high mountains.
Unfortunately the ability now to place ack over the field has been removed, unless I go back and re-modify those unique fields! But I don’t think it’s actually possible without changing the core game mechanics in the game. So this option has been removed.
So we were up against some high odds here. Firstly, you have the intelligence of every player on the map against you. Second your limited by the game mechanics within the game. Removal of placing field guns all over the field to protect the map room.
The only conclusion we saw, was to place the map room close to the field. Enabling fighters to suddenly up and take down any goons drivers who want to capture the field. Unfortunately, without the protection of 10x field ack, this element is still there but hasn’t been identified by players.
The map has a lot of strategic/strat/gv/PT boats/CV’s/ elements a single post is not going to cover them all. Although fighter town is a very small aspect of the map, and have been getting allot of attention lately. There’re a list of bugs that myself and my friend have to fix but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get hold of skuzzy to submit the new map modifications.
-
So Bomber are you mad that people are enjoying FT or happy?
-
I enjoy seeing people enjoying all gameplay aspect of the map. It means that all the late night have paid off, and we have a very unique map that is fun and enables people to choose what they want to do without being forced into a set gameplay style.
Furballers want to furball
Strat players want to play strat
Field captures want to capture fields
GV wants to fight GV
PT boats want instant action
I did read that hitech himself did mention that the map divides the aces high community when the map is in rotation. Although it was part of its design, so no surpise there.
Overall im very pleased with the map
-

The map is great and gives this game a big injection of what it has been missing for a long time - somehwere that you are gauranteed a fight.
I think HT dropped the ball when they left AtoA combat to chance in the MA, and that is what is dividing the community, not your map. I understand HT is up to his neck with CT/TOD I really hope it works out for them and they can then focus on the MA a little and end the strife that exists between the FP and TSH. I would love nothing more than to log in and enjoy this game every time.
If I had a dime, everytime I heard/read... "Yeah I logged in, looked at the current map (Not Donut), saw the action stunk and logged out." I'd be rich.
-
One of the un-expected things that we discovered and a lot of people have confirmed it, that the map is exhausting. The constant battles gv, air, pt boats do get to people and I have known some players saying they have to take a break because everywhere they go they get engaged in combat. We didnt expect this type of response, and we both myself and my friend feel the same when we log into the map.
Thank you very much for the comments about the map mars01 and all others. I hope you enjoy the map, and stay with the aces high community.

As opposed to what? IMO - people engaging as much as possible is good right? I would think that is the Holy Grail for map makers.

NP anytime - some would think I comment too much LOL :D
I will be with AH untill HT abandons AtoA combat all together (i.e. they kill Maps like Donut and FTs) or HT just gets sick of me and I get PNGed :D
Hopefully neither happen! :aok It just gets frustrating when the little time I get to actually log in and play, there is nothing there for me to enjoy.

There's no question it's guys on every team. I asked one of those flying Knights why all the calls to 'take FT". I got the classic idiot response. "It's my 14.95!".
Common courtousy seems to have little place in the game. Those buff guys in my mind aren't a whole lot different then the guys in LAs, Tiffies, 190s etc that spend their entire time in FT trying to vulch. There's a massive furball out over the water but they think shooting guys just taking off is the way to go.
No shortage of those without a clue in AH I am afraid.
-
The horror of loggin in and having to actually fight everywhere you go.
It's inhumane, unimaginable, stressful.... and exactly what this game needs. ;)

I think the community is getting used to the AH culture ettiquette of FT, though.
THis is the first tour I can remember without a major "furballer vs toolshedder" ranting thread....thats gotta be a step forward.
Also, as of this AM, its the first time I can remember that there wasnt a capture in the FT trio, and there havent been big arguments about whether captures in FT are acceptable community behavior -- its been "Dont do that, its lame" vs. "I dont care what you think."
There was one time that could have gone pretty badly for FT, and some vets did not behave well. At one point Nit lamers got both a buff sweep and cap over the rook base, and proceeded to vulch away while the buffs and jabos hammered the town. I'm sure Nit vets were trying to get the lamers to stop, but that can be a losing battle. (How does one reason with those incapable of logical thought?)
The real trouble came when some vets also helped cap the base. Rook vets could have handled the lamers OK, because they were getting up and fighting. Lamers in general are not the best at AtA combat, so the fight could have turned into a harvest of newbs. But, the vets picked off lots of defenders and -- even though capture was NOT their intent their presence almost let a capture happen. Fortunately, after some 200 chatter, the pressure let off.
I'd suggest we be aware that fighter vets' actions may indirectly aid those whose cluelessness prompts them to capture in FT. As for me, if I see such a situation developing I intend to head to the attackers' flight path and intercept the stream --- that way my picks and easy kills are helping, rather than hurting, the one fightertown we have.
-
i want to bomb buildings and take bases with no one defending. ack is good enough defence on its own. people keep trying to fight me, how can i concentrate on shooting ack and buildings if they are trying to shoot me down? this map sucks. :(

I have noticed a common thread with all map makers except fester...
They all seem bummed out when people fight on their maps... some like nb even move the fields farther apart so that people won't furball so much...
Fester made the best overall map... Whatever this current one is like I wouldn't know since I haven't used any of it other than the FT area.
rememeber the hidious pizza map?
I guess us furballers just don't have the patience to design a map... that makes sense I guess..... If we did tho... the fields would be the minimum 3/4 of a sector apart that is the HT guidline.

What makes a good furballer map also makes a bad "war" map. Furballers would prefer a narrow front where you can get a lot of planes buzzing around to shoot at. People more interested in strategic elements hate that because there's no room to manouever and the only way to get anything done is to Horde or close bases.
-
I'm not too sure about that.
Base capture was made more difficult and the bases were moved farther apart pretty much concurrently.
I think that is one of the main reasons the Horde is such a staple of gameplay. It's a (relatively) longer flight to the next base and the mechanics of base capture favor the largest number of participants possible.
If you watch the MA, Horde capture proceeds from one base to the next closest, to the next closest, ad nauseaum.
If many AIR bases were an equal distance apart and IF base capture didn't favor horde tactics to such an overwhelming degree, perhaps the fights would spread a bit.
As it is now, it's pretty hard to sneak behind the Horde and capture some base(s).
In the olden times, it was not that hard to sneak a base far behind enemy lines.
I think the way it was, closer bases with easier capture, led to a lot more fights overall and the fights weren't Horde v Horde.
-
Playing a massively multiplayer online game hoping to never run into an enemy quite frankly is retarded.

Maybe if HT offered Power-ups and spells to cast on opposing flyers for a slight extra charge...............

It's as much about base density as about the width of a "front."
When the front stalls that's when the lamer tactics really fire up (NOE Lancs, etc.) because every "proper" approach has been tried and exhuasted.

I wish that were true Dok, but it isn't. People take the path of least resistance in AH. I guess it might be human nature, who knows... but the truth is the tactics go from patheitc to worse. Rarely does anyone do things "properly." Noe lancs, timidity and horde warrior are the norm, not the end result of what boils down to be a stalemate.

The more resources required to take a base, the larger the Hordes will become.
The futher apart the bases are, the more likely it is that a Horde will organize to make the trip and ensure capture.
Combine those two and you get what you have now. Hordewarrior.
It's time to change SOMETHING. Might as well start with the two obvious factors.

I'm not suggesting people ain't lame as per norm. Only that when a base which holds up a front won't fall after an hour or more, then people seem to stop caring about how it gets taken, only that it does. So the rate of stoopidlyness increases.
What's really amazing to me is I'm starting to see something happen again which I hadn't seen in a long while: bailers. Zoom in, pork barracks and ord, strafe the field a couple times, then once 2 or 3 defenders are chasing bail out if they haven't hit you so they don't get perks (manouever kill). Pretty freakin' sad.

This is the last straw!! I pay $15 hard earned dollars every month and I expect to be provided with maps that give me the opportunity to milkrun undefended bases. All this unavoidable combat is unacceptable!! Next thing you know they will be telling us combat is the point of the game!
