Hey...this question is directed towards the skuzzmister, and anyone else from HTC who may read this...Trying to word this, everything I come up with almost sounds offensive, or sarcastic, but believe me when I tell you this is not a flame or anything like that...
Okay...Skuzzman...I know you read the message boards a lot...I'd like to say you pop in atleast once a day, but to be conservative lets say you come once every 2-3 days...thats still a lot...sometimes we are even graced with a responce...=)
Now with you visiting this much, it would be fair to say you do read a lot of posts, but obviously do not catch all of them...who can? its just not possible... Now heres what my question pertains too. Wishlist forum...In specific posts with large # of responces (positive or negative)...We rarely hear what you or your staff thinks about request made in the wishlist forum, that in some cases, most of the community would love to see...Should posts that go unanswered by you or your staff be considered something you may or may not have reviewed, and a wish that was decided against? If thats the case that would make the wishlist a lot easier for us...
I dunno...I understand how buisy you guys are...You have a small staff running a major company, and the BB's are prolly the last of your worries...But I think the community would like, when possible to hear your thoughts on request....Maybe if you even put a green/yellow/and red light next to the post after you read it....Ofcourse none of these lights if you chose to use them would be a definate answer from you...But hypothetically if you used this system a green light would be an ultra quick responce to a request telling us that you like the idea...Yellow could mean "iffy"...your not sold, its not a yes and not a no...and Red would obviously mean the request is something that has no chance of ever seeing its way into aces high...Like I said, this isnt a flame or an attack...Just my opinion, and I hope you dont take it as derogotory.
Any thoughts?

what is it that warrants a responce basically
-
Well.. I like the idea, and the BBS probably already supports this by the "Rate this Thread" function. I think it's disabled, but maybe it could be enabled in the Wishlist, and only available to HTC staff to post ratings.
HT has said that he does read many of the requests, but doesn't respond because they are either already discussed, or just not good ideas that he doesn't even want to address.
Of course, the rating system *might* provide some help to wishlist posters, as they would be able to see HTC feedback on past ideas, rather than getting the same ideas posted over and over again whenever new players come into the game.
What I'd really like to know is HTC current thoughts on the B-29. It was mentioned a long time ago in an about section or something, but even with all the current hot debates, no word from HTC.

i can tell you this, i spend a fair bit of time on the forums, mostly in oclub and general, but it only takes a few minutes a day to see anything listed in the wishlist forum.
i can also say that in 4+ years there has not been a ton of "new" suggestions. most everything is 1 of a few things:
1. wanting to effect gameplay to a desired effect of the idea poster.
2. wanting to implement a new gameplay feature that is either not as useful as the poster thinks, or not possible to "coad"
3. a re-request for something that has already been asked for, possibly with a spin on the original concept.
1 suggestion i will use as an ancedote is the clipboard as it was implemented when AH2 came out. there were a TON of new features that were at least suggested by players over time. "favorites" in the hangar, right click functions and so on. 1 thing that was different was the pop out on the left side. personally i didn't like it to go left because i kept the clipboard to the left edge of the screen. i asked HT (and thought it was a simle "coad") if we could choose right or left for the side pop out. sounds simple right? well it was not, and hard written into the game coad. something as simple as that could be a major re-write of the game. of course i and others didn't realise that.
HiTech (or Skuzzy or Pyro) can't come along for every request and explain how it is written into the game... 1 because of the lengthy details of the explnation, 2 because it would be giving out company secrets as to how the game is designed and 3 because many of the questions have been "officially" answered before.
another example of a question already "answered" in a way is variations on the perking of different planes. if you really take the time and read the literally 1000's of posts about it there is almost no concept or idea that has not been brought up before. the "new" spin on the idea can usually be found brought up years ago. the B29 is another twist on the wishlist forum. it has gotten so out of hand and redicoulous it is not worth the effort to read the thread. there is not a week literally that a NEW thread asking for the B29 does not pop up.
for repititive, straight up not plausable, and just plain silly requests, is it HTC co's job to pop in, reply to each and say yes or no? (then be bombarded with questions of why by people unwilling to take 1/2 hour seriously searching to forums)
well thats just my take on it.

I'd bet this is a lot of it. We do tend to yammer on at each other, and a quick search will show that even when HT speaks directly (as he tends to about collisions) it doesnt stop the arguing.
And, things change with time. So where a feature may have been on the drawing boards 2-3 years ago, with the passage of time HTC may decide against implementation. You can be sure that a past post from HiTech saying "we'll do it when time permits" would be thrown in his face -- requiring further explanation and discussion. All that net time cuts into coad time, whcih is bad for all of us.
Simpler sometimes to let the fire die out in silence than to risk throwing more fuel on the fire.
So, "no answer" is the same as "no," or at least "not now."

i'm thinking it was a "global" no.

How 'bout just a simple FAQ?
Q: "Can we have B-29"
A: "No."
Q: "Why not?"
A: "Because I said so."

Well I learned something today...I went to the search page and am currently looking at HITECH's posts....if I ever get through all of these I will look at skuzzy's...prolly answer a lot of my questions....
(but I doubt it will answer my A-20/ords and scores in flight questions, so HTC make sure 2 check out the wish list =) ):aok

Cav, take a list of the things that were added to AH2 and then search for them in the Wishlist forum. Whether it was responding to the wishes or just plain dumb luck, there were about a dozen or so items added that had been requested (jeep one of the more obvious). So IMO, HTC listens, just don't expect to know it.
