"Convert Ac3d File" function does not convertī"PolyID" tags.
This can be verified by exporting e.g. the "twr0" object into twr0.ac, then changing the ac file name, converting it into OE and finally exporting it back to .ac again.
The second export shows a different text file than the initial export. "PolyID" lines are missing.
---
There is also something wrong with "Hidden" tags... either in export or in convert. "Hidden" tags also vanish in a similar convert-export process.
-
Any comments?
-
Hi
I tested the following: I export twr0, rename it and convert it again.
Closed the OE, delete the cache and re-open OE again.
Only what I could see from my "new" tower was a clock, chalk board etc and stairway.
Strange

Any comments from HTC?
It is intended to work like this? (no access to PolyID tags)
It is a bug which will get fixed?
It is not a priority to fix it, but maybe later?
-
Not giving up :)

Have you tried e-mailing skuzzy? That is usually the quickest way to get a response.

I have been experimenting with tower object in ac, never noticed anything strange in coverting it in oe back.
-
Fixed for the next release.
-
Seems i have been missing something somewhere. Anyway glad it's going to be fixed.
And please fix the CE!
-
Thanks Skuzzy :aok
-
so that means.... we will be able to build towers now?
-
It could mean that towers, acks, entrypoints, etc. functional objects could be built :)
At least it is one step in that direction.
I originally tried to position the officer club in the Karelia V-base wooden observation tower which also acted as radar. Maybe such can be made in the future. Killing the base radar would then also destroy (drop it to ground) the higher observation point.
There is just the "two weeks" to wait until next release ;)
-
Skuzzy,
I still have the same problems with the new OE version as described in the first post of this thread :(
-
Blauk, I'm not certain that I'm understanding this fully, but if it's a matter of missing tags, could you either re-type them into the new object, or copy and paste the missing tags from the older file into the new one?
-
If I only could edit the shp files... but I cannot. Only the ac file can be edited and when it is converted to OE, the "PolyID" and "Hidden" tags do not go through to the shp file :(
It is not so serious that "Hidden" tags do not come out in export from shp to ac, since they can be added to ac file, but in conversion to OE (import) there is no work around... the objects simply will not function as they should in OE or TE or in game.
-
Maybe off-topic but it is bugging me that in ac3d i cannot copy/paste the tags, just type them. When i try to copy past them they do not appear next time i open
the object settings

HT thought he had fixed it. He is on vacation, so I will point him at this thread when he gets back.
-
Thanks Skuzzy!
-
Wait, if that means we can use the polyid tags, can we create the water then with polyid tag for water?
-
Lol Blauk someone else found it way before-

I did alot of experimenting with it and what I discovered is there is a bug in the conversion tool. I exported an existing hill, copied it, converted it then exported it again and the poly ID line was lost. Also the data=xx value for that poly was changed.
Hope this gets fixed.

Ahh for god sakes!
I haven't been around for a week and it's still not fixed!?
-
Blauk if we can't convert polyid tags how did you make costum runways in karelia?
-
Bump... not to forget this issue.

Another thing the OE does is it takes objects with the "nocollide=1" tag and changing it so it can collide when built in the TE.
-
Raptor is right, have the same thing happening to my objects with nocollide tag.
-
bump for HT

4th and 10 to go.... punt!
-
I thought you work in the same office as Ht skuz, couldn't you just tell him in person about this?
-
I keep on violating #13 :(
It would be really nice to know if this issue is already on some "to do" list, or that it will not happen... so that I could save my time for something more useful than punting an issue.
When I used to play ball, I was never a punter, but fairly often a punt returner ... so this is kinda hard for me ;)

What's the word on this?

Also having problems with stencilalpha tag.It seems you have to put objects somewhere in the map from TE, just like with nocollide tag?
-
:noid
-
Is it still broken?
-
Imported/exported object.Still no polyids.
-
Ok the polyid is now fixed as of this morning.
Not understanding your stencilalpha question.

Thanks HT :aok
...downloading.
Howabout the Hidden tag issue (also mentioned in the post at the top)?
----
.... hmmm polyid fixed, but fix not yet available, I presume?
Download was still dated Nov 15th.
-
Ok added the hidden tag.
Also have not released the fixed version yet.

cc, tnx.
Since you are now at it, howabout loading the newly converted custom object at the same time to the "shapes" list... without having to exit and restart OE after every conversion.
Or even a refresh button for the shapes list?
... if that is easy to add.
-
Thanks, Hitech.
-
Grab the fix here. (http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AH2EDIT2094T2094A.EXE) NOTE: This patch is only for those who have already installed AH2EDIT2094.EXE.
If you have NOT installed AH2EDIT2094.EXE, then you can grab AH2EDIT2094A.EXE (http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AH2EDIT2094T2094A.EXE), which contains the new patch.
-
Thanks fellas. :)
-
BTW Did you get a chance to test the PolyID?
also the new tag is Hidden=1
HiTech
-
PolyID:s and Hidden:s seem to work ok now. Although some hidden polys are shown in OE, they are correctly hidden in TE and in the game.
Also there are still some problems in export/conversion... I sent you a PM about it.
Also the conversion seems to create a LOT of new verstices. I suspect that all shared vertices are ignored and every polygon will get individual vertices, even where a shared/combined vertice could be used.
This means larger files after conversion.
btw, HiTech, do you read the "CMs TT" board, or is it better to always post here?
