Am I wrong to think that we should have more options to spend our bomber perks on than just Ar234s?
-
Like a.... B29???
-
with?
-
perhaps a highly perked Fairey Battle ;)
-
The Condor? - (kidding) The HE111....hey how about the ground attack B-25 or the ME-410 - (not technically a bomber but I thought I'd throw it out there lol)
-
A-26 now there is a bomber worth spending perks on.
Ju87-g or IL2 with the 37 mm.

The B-29 has been beaten to death. I do not want to bring it up here. HT should put an end to the discussion on that plane and either say yeah, or nay to the super fort.
But you amass x number of bomber perks....ya gotta spend them, after all, that's the whole idea behind perks, right? Why only one option? This is what I'm talking about
How about the ordinance load is perked? Incendiaries instead of HE...burn the town down. The radio guided missile (whatever the designation was) that the germans had....
-
b-36 then?:huh
hap

He has, he said NO in rather bold type.

Or the Anti-ship missle they had, that would make short work of a CV
-
They have Brenjen? Didn't know....
That's the unit I was thinking of....it was used for anti-shipping,
That I would pay good money for.
Torps on a Ju88 are useless
-
It would be nice to something to spend bomber perks on. Anything. The AR234 is just a waste of good perks. I bet when the staff at HTC looks at all the work that went into the 234 they all say "Now there is a big chunk of my life I won't get back"
:D
:noid
-
Still say a Lanc with a Blockbuster or Earthquake bomb would be worth the perks. :)
-
Agree -- need more than one perk ride for the perks to be meaningful.
That goes for another Perk vehicle too, but at least the Tiger is useful . . .
-
Treize is on the same wavelength as me here....if ya can't have a new perked aircraft....get perked ordinance.
And as for 25280's comment....they should get a medium perk tank to bridge the gap between the tiger and the others....But let's not digress.
-
like i said the ultimate perk buff is the A-26.
Attack AC with the Heavy bomber load out.
Perk it like a 234 and it would still be the most used buff in game.
Or how about the B-25 with the 75 mm gun.
I'd pay perks to fly that.
Just takes some imagination on ht part.
Also the B-24 should have a light perk.
Same defensive gun load as a 17 but with more ords and speed.
It makes the 17 more of a rarity.

There are other options for spending buff perks that I'd like to see:
Heinkel He 177A-3 (or later) Greif (Griffin) Heavy bomber
First flight November 1939 Entered service 1942/1943 Production ended 1944 for Fighter Emergency Program --- Germany was totally defensive in the air by then.
Manufacturer Heinkel and Arado
Weights Empty 15,870 kg 35,000 lb Loaded 32,470 kg 71,600 lb
Performance Maximum speed 565 km/h @ 6,100 m 350 mph @ 21,000 ft Combat range 1.540 km 960 miles Service ceiling 9,400 m 30,800 ft
Armament: Guns six to eight MG/cannons; Bombs 7,200 kg 15,900 lb
Early versions had problem catching fire, later versions with DB610 nacelle (each containing two DB605 engines) had less problems with imitating a Zippo lighter. Due to design problem of trying to make a heavy bomber also capable of dive bombing.
He 177A-3
He 177A-3/R3 - Anti-shipping version
He 177A-3/R5 - 75 mm gun in ventral gondola
He 177A-3/R7 - Torpedo Bomber
He 177A-5 - Increased maximum external bombload
Production Numbers: Over 1000, of which none is known to exist today.
---------------------------------------------------------
Junkers Ju 290 ** if it came also with the radar package ** :D Maritime Patrol ** basis for the Ju 390 which had 2 prototypes, but cancelled production**
First Flight July 16, 1942 (Ju 290 V1) Entered Service August 1942
Manufacturer Junkers
Weights: Empty 33,005 kg 72,611 lb Loaded Maximum takeoff 44,970 kg 99,141 lb
Performance: Maximum speed 440 km/h 273 mph Range 6,150 km 3,843 miles Service ceiling 6,000 m 19,680 ft
Radar FuG 200 Hohentwiel
Armament: Guns 2x 20 mm MG 151/20 in dorsal turrets (*** 20mm turrets...yum....**), 1 x 20 mm MG 151/20 in tail, 2 x 20mm MG 151/20 at waist, 1 x 20mm MG 151/20 in gondola, 2 x 13 mm MG 131 in gondola
Anyone know how much ord this thing could carry?
--------------------------------------------------------------
Or cargo aircraft like the:
Messerschmitt Me 323 "Gigant" Heavy transport (* butt-ugly to boot*)
First flight Fall 1941 Entered service 1943
Manufacturer Messerschmitt A.G.
Dimensions: Length 28.2 m 92 ft 4 in Wingspan 55.2 m 181 ft 0 in
Height 10.15 m 33 ft3.5 in
Weights Empty 27,330 kg 60,260 lb Loaded 29,500 kg 65,000 lb
Maximum takeoff 43,000 kg 94,815 lb
Performance Maximum speed 270 km/h 170 mph Combat range 800 km 500 mile Service ceiling 4,000 m 13,100 ft Rate of climb 216 m/min 710 ft/min
Armament Guns (example) 18 × 7.92 mm MG81 machine-guns
Could carry and drop 100 troops or 15 tons of equipment.
Who wants a slow, armed goon that can carry a jeep, M3, M8, or drop 100 troops? Who would spend perkies for it?
------------------------------------------------------------
In fact, I see a general resistence to German buffs like the He-177 and He111 being designed, cause we'll want the Fritz X anti-ship missile and the Henschel Hs 293 air-to-ship gliding guided bomb next. :t
information gleened from Wikipedia...... fast but effective for this purpose.
-
I agree with Lusche - a heavily perked Fairey Battle - YAY!
-
Brenjen,
They have not said no to the B-29. In fact it was used as an example of what the perk system was for. They have said no to the nuke, rightly so, and that may be what you are remembering.
The only perk bombers I can think of would be:
A-26
B-29A
Mosquito B.Mk XVI
Maybe Il-10

No Karnak, someone brought up the B-29 in a different thread & directly asked HT to pipe in a definite yes or no & his one word answer was as follows:
NO

Go read it again. The question in the thread was could we have some kind of marker that shows if HTC is considering an idea, has at least read it, or some such thing. Someone else says he likes it, and oh, by the way, will we get a B-29. Hitech responds with "NO". Perfectly vague to me whether he was saying no to the "provide feedback" of the orignal poster's wish, or to the B-29.
Jury is still out IMO.
Unless there is another thread I don't know about -- I am referring to the one titled "Responces - HTC" [sic] in the General Discussion forum by Cav58.

Yes, you are correct, it is a vague answer in a way as it is open to interpretation. I took it to mean:
NO.....to all of the above.
It can be as you suggest; NO....to some of the above.
His answer seemed awfully succinct to me when I read it; but I do see where others may find differently in the same two letter response.

Sacrilege
The AR-234
- Carries 3,300 lbs of bombs.
- Makes a great scout.
- Fly's Dam fast.
- Will take upto 600+ mph in a dive.
- Allows you to have great fun playing with LALA drivers who think they can catch you.
- Means you can drop the Dar at three bases in short succession.
- Has Ratos which allow you to have even more fun.
- Is my all time favorite AH bomber.
You sir, need to spend some time flying her.
Try diving at high speed through a bunch of enemy cons and then going vertical... watch em all scramble after you until the stall out then hit the Ratos and fly away to safety....
:p
-
You can do almost all that in a P47 plus fly faster.
:D
-
AR-234 + TA + Bordom = 350+ MPH through VH.....
Got the film somewhere.

From the HTC website's perk page:
The perk system is a way for HTC to introduce some interesting but otherwise unbalancing planes on a limited basis but the benefits go deeper than that. Perk planes (and vehicles) would be things like Me 262s, Ta 152s, Tempests, B-29s, Ar 234s, Tiger IIs, etc. These are interesting rides but would be very unbalancing if they were available on an unlimited basis. So there won't be unlimited availability but they'll be available as bonuses or perks every so often.
-
Yeah, I read that before Karnak. Read E25280's post & my reply. What I was refering too was brought up in another thread.
I take his simple & direct one word answer of NO at face value. He seemed to me to be answering the question "and oh, by the way, will we get a B-29"
But it is debateable as to what he meant when he replied.
LOL, I can't speak for him or anyone else, just remarking about what I read. As E25280 pointed out, different folks comprehend differently & what to me seemed quite clear, seemed vague to him.
I agree 100%, it could be interpretted (sp?) entirely different than the way I took it & I apologize for believing he meant NO, when he may have meant NO to part of the statement in the post & YES to the part that was a question but only answered with NO instead of going into detail.

Well at least the B29 is in pacific fighters...
