I saw a thing on anti virus slowing stuff down....and cant figure out how to temporarily disable mine mine is AVG free, any help?

Its probably less a case of AVG slowing things down, more a case of a new virus AVG let through slowing your PC down. AVG's detection rates on new virus's are abysmal (check here if you don't believe me: http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse/report09.pdf )
