Some guy dropped in and posted on the A/C and Vehicles forum and posted on a P-38 thread. Claimed to have owned a P-51B recce and used to mock dogfight Philippine Air Force F-86's in it and win. Also claims to have been a pilot in Air America. Wonder when he'll start posting about this really cool flight sim he's developing.
How would the P-38 have perfomed... (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=176850)

July 2. Withdrew at 5 P. M. from the field near the Peach Orchard and went into battery here.
July 3. About 1.30 P. M. by order of Brig. General H. J. Hunt fired on the Confederate batteries but did little damage. Opened an enfilading fire soon after on Longstreet's advancing line of infantry and assisted in repulsing the assault. A charge was made within the range of the Battery immediately afterwards by the Florida Brigade and at about the same time a Confederate battery opened on the left front which at once received the concentrated fire of the batteries of the Brigade driving the cannoneers from the guns which they abandoned.
July 4. Remained in this position until afternoon.

Smells like Straiga

Mach1 P38 with fabric control surfaces? Hmmm.
I would guess it's a Fester troll using Voss as the wriggling worm.
-
Ack-Ack,
I don't think you understand that post at all. Someone is messing with you guys. If I had to guess why: There's something about that "discussion" that made me want to hurt any self-proclaimed historian I might happen to stumble accross today.
Just sayin.
-
Ack Ack, you nailed it.
It may not be Voss, but it IS someone just as sick. It's not just someone trolling or trying to be funny. It's someone who has more than a screw loose.
Good call.
-
Voss or Straiga. Either way good fun calling them out every time they materialize.
Keep up the good work, and don't let the scorpion bite you.
:noid
-
Wasn't Voss Straiga? He was GPreddy as well, right?
-
Voss and Straiga are different people.

From my vantage point, you haven't earned any right to blast others, regardless of who you think they are. That goes for anyone here not just ACK HACK :)

Bodhi is Voss!

"From my vantage point.."
Really? lol. And what "vantage point" would that be?

Ack-Hack? And as Westy said, what vantage point is that? Please explain my little retarted n00bie...

You slammed a guy and started calling him names first and for no apparent reason.
You could have explained to all this to him without name calling and rubbin it in his face.
Then you come here and throw fuel to the fire hoping you'd get support from your veteran buddies... Thats lame.
-
Other than calling the guy a "fake", what other names did I call him? Please enlighten me oh wise one Callisto...

"...for no apparent reason."
I too own a P-51C and have even raced an SR-71 at 75,000 feet with it. If I could have gotten the damn Merlin out of 2nd and into 3rd gear I might have even beaten the cheating, afterburner-using AF jockey.
-
So that was you in the P-51 Westy. Yeah, I thought you had me for a minute, but once I lit the afterburners, I started walking the SR-71 away from you.

Are you serious?
-
Oh...I called him Voss too. I know calling someone Voss is hitting below the belt but claiming to own a P-51 and fly for Air America leaves on open to such names.

A little side note...
The control reversal mentioned in the liars' post is from the movie "The Sound Barrier" starring Ralph Richardson. It was BS then and it is BS now.

-
Which was a great indication of "troll".
-
I'm in awe of the guys who fought in/over Laos and Cambodia. Talk about putting your neck way out there. So I'm hesitant to judge harshly. If he's for real you guys are going to feel ****ty.
-
PS, control reversal at transonic speeds was reported for many WW2 types. The guy may have confused "breaking the sound barrier" with "entering compressibility regime" but the basic idea is correct.
-
Well, the only thing I am going to say about it other than what I already have is that:
1. The Phillipino's had F-86's but not F-100's as sourced here.... http://www.paf.mil.ph/Gallery2/oldaircraft.html
2. The P-38 did not have fabric on it's control surfaces, ever. The only fabric in the airframe where boots in the booms to keep baggage from sliding down, the seat back cushion, the "extra" equipment bag, and patches over the lighting holes.
3. The 51 did not have all fabric control surfaces either. The ailerons were all metal, and later on the elevators were too. The H model introduced the all metal Rudder.
4. Every person I ever met that had anything to do with the group Air America never volunteered that info....

But, basically, the controls do not "reverse".

Funkded,
The guy is a liar. Remember the "Brian" fiasco?
