For those of youi n the Washington D.C. area, the Blues will be performing at Andrews AFB May 19-21 as part of the Joint Service Open House.
As an added feature above the regular airshow performers (Sean Tucker, et al) the Canadian Snow Birds will be there as well. If you havn't seen the Snow Birds, they are not as flashy as the Blues but they arre VERY precise in all of the multi-plane maneuvers.
Admission is always free to this.

Plus sean, bail out tucker will be there which is always good fun!.....Nav are u going? do u live in the are or are you traveling ther? Lets try and get all the aces highers together to say hello at the show

I saw the blue angels last weekend here in fort worth. to be honest, they didn't really wow me with anything. the best part of the show imho was the army golden knight parachute team, those guys are nuts !! also lockhead martin's test pilot did a rare demo of an F16. There was also a mock battle that took place that was pretty sweet as well, but the blue angels weren't all that. Debbie Gary's stuntplane act was better imo

ya saw them here in Ft lauderdale at the Air and Sea show guess we kick off the summer show season here. All the same acts it seems. But the different part about here is you can put boat at show center and its close. :)

Ever ben to a SEAN TUCKER airshow?
His stupid announcer will have you hearing "AND HERE COMES SEAN TUCKER..." over and over in your mind worse than a cheesy 80s love ballad.

Air Show announcing and song selection is always terrible and cheesy. I wish they would just shut up so i can hear the roar of the engines.
-
Sean Tucker is incredible...Hands down the best civil aerobatic pilot alive...The balls on that guy must be HUGE! Let's hope that one day we seee our fellow AH community member, Mr.Robby Pitts, with his name right next to mr. tucker =) (rob that publicity has got to equal a free ride again =) hahaha)
So the blues wernt very impressive this year? Was it because of the same routine? Or are they looking sloppy...Bare in mind its still early in the season, and the best time to see them is around August when all of the kinks are worked out...Either way, ya still gotta love the sneek pass....
So the F-16 demo was flown by a lockheed pilot? I hear the factory demo is much more aggressive then the air force team demo....what differences did you see?
Im also really looking forward to seeing the raptor!
Unfortunately as of today there is a 30% chance of rain for the weekend so lets hope for clear skies!

Saw the Ft. Worth show last weekend as well. I must respectfully disagree with Iceman :)

Either way I think seeing any military demo team is an experience that everyone should have....I prefer the Angels over the T-birds but both put on great shows.....I am also becoming a major fan of the snowbirds....They really do put on an incredible airshow, and are making more and more continental US trips as of late...if u ever have the chance to see them be sure to check em out....
so is anyone going to JSOH?

blue angels just had the same routine ive seen before. They didn't look sloppy at all though. I'm just not a huge formation flying fan I guess...
The lockhead martin test pilot was awesome, wayyyy more aggressive than the regular demo team. The F16 can by far out maneuver any plane in the world from the way he was flying it, havent seen an F22 yet though :)
The best part IMO were the golden knight parachute team and the mock combat battle... I now know what it feels like to be an iraqi soldier lol I have a new found respect for our troops, I don't see how you can even THINK with all that noise and explosions going on around you. I guess thats why they go thru aggressive training lol
They had 2 mig 17's out there also that were pretty cool as well doing all kinds of stuff

The Blues haven't changed their routine in years. Still worth seeing if you have the chance.

The Canadian F/A-18 demo's are better than US also because they are not limited. US military pilots are limited as to what they can do for manuvers, while civilian test pilots and military pilots from other contries are given much more latitude. I wish our guys could really shake their planes out for shows, but they are pretty limited.

The best part of it is when you can take a kid to see them for the first time. Last summer we drove over to the Naval Air Museum in the morning to walk through the museum after their practice that morning. It was simply amazing for both my son's (8 and 2 at the time) and they want to do it again this summer.

CAV58d,
Yes my wife and I are going. I work at the Pentagon and live in Springfield area. I don't know if I'm going Sat or Sun though.
Iceman24: Having been a Naval Aviator (SH-60 Helos) I can appreciate the formation flying sincce we did some in primary Flight School in P-cola. It may not look OVERLY impressive to the bystander on the ground, but having done SIMPLE formation flying, I have great respect and AWE for these guys.
As with Cav, I think the Blues put on a better show, not taking anything away from the T-Birds, just seems like the Blues have more of an "In your face" show with the solo's.
As for Sean Tucker, I get sick just "watching" him fly...:)
Should be a great show! Last year it was rainy and low ceiling with the T-Birds and they only had 5 jets working instead of the usual 6.

Reschke,
Are you still active? I had a couple of friends that flew in the Jolly Rogers.
I actually have 2 cruise placks hanging in the Museum at P-Cola that were in the Cubi Point O-Club in the P.I.
I was one of the last deployments to pass through the P.I. prior to mouont pietubo blowing up.
Of course I don't remeber much of it considering the copeus amounts of San Miguel I consumed along with the Mojo juice served on the streets..:):)
Just wondering if you're still in.

Never mind LMFAO. I realized after i sent the post that the Jolly rogers you have on you signature is from the Jolly Rogers here in Aces High.

NAV....Palazzom1@southernct.edu is my e-mail...send me so we can be in touch...I am leaving for DC tomorrow night and will be in town Thursday, Friday Saturday....I will only be attending the airshow on Friday, and otherwise will be interviewing...Also can you give me directions to 215 Cannon House office building =0
-
Cav58d
I'll send you an e-mail a little later today, 215 Cannon House building is just up the hill from the National Aurboretum (spelling not my strong point).
I think the best way to come would be to come down I-95 to the Baltimore Washington Parkway (295). Take that to Hwy 50, turn west (right) onto 50 and take that until it turns in to New York Ave. Then turn right onto9th St NE and the Cannon should be right there.
Release from Liability: Be it known that these are MapQuest directions and the generator of this post does not hold any liability to the correctness of these directions..:):)
Hope that helps
