Yeah, the Me-262 was Germany's uber fighter jet o-doom in ww2. One problem, Hitler didnt want it to be just a fighter jet. He had the 262 armed with 2 250lb bombs so it could destroy tanks and the such. Also, the 262 was later armed with air to air unguided rockets o-doom to destroy large groups of bombers. What I want to know is where are all the extra weapons in AH II? Did these weapons just not see enough use in ww2 to be put in the game or what? Also, I heard rumors of a 262 with a giant cannon strapped to the front, is that true?

The bomber variant is a different one from the one we have. It had (from memory) 2 of the 30mm removed to save weight in the nose, because the bombs were strapped under the nose.
The big arse cannon was simply a test bed, and the unit was almost unflyable, but it worked.
However, the biggest gripe I have (okay, SECOND biggest gripe I have) about the 262 in AH is that it doesn't have the R4M rockets. They would be far FAR more lethal than the WGr 21 rockets we have now, and there'd be about 24 of them for a single plane (as opposed to 4 max for the WGr on the 110G-2).

I seem to recall hearing or reading in here that the rockets the 190-F8 carries are a variant of the R4M weapon. If that is the case (hell, even if it's not) I'd love to see our 262 armed with rockets.
The bomb carrying variant, and the various alternate cannon setups don't interest me much, being (apparently) rare birds, but rockets.... .:t

The cannon was a 50 something MM & projected out the front of the aircraft 6 feet, a counter weight had to be added to balance the plane. As posted above it worked & on a side note it was captured by the United States.

I think the F-8 carries Panzerblitz rockets not R4M.

Notice behind the Me-163, yes thats a V-2 rocket with Meillerwagon, and a Romanian Ju-88.Thats just the tip of the iceberg.

Yes, and I thought I'd read in here somewhere that the panzerblitz was a derivation of the the R4M with a different warhead. I know very little about the LW weapons, particularly the rockets, so my recollection could be entirely inaccurate.
I still want rockets though. Lots and lots of rockets. :t

Hitler took one of the deadliest weapons developed at its time, and neutered it. He wanted a "blitzbomber", a super-fast divebomber to pound on Allies at Normandy... except they weren't allowed descend below a certain alt (10k?) to avoid anti-aircraft fire. They weren't allowed to fly at high alts, so their fuel effeciency was crap. Adding in altitude limits means leveling bombing only. 500 lbs of bombs, dropped from a level aircraft at 10k, going 500+ mph... not gonna hit anything without a HUD & CCRP mode.
Because of Hilter's directions, it debuted as perhaps the least successful attack aircraft in existence at the time. Once all the rules were gone, and 109/190 CAPs were established during takeoff & landing, it became a vicious fighter... kinda. Lots of pilots couldn't adjust well to the extreme closure rates and their cannon accuracy fell apart. I'll jump out on a limb here and say the R4M rockets were it's most lethal weapon. Once they employed those, success against bombers climbed quickly.
