Steve Hinton in the Planes of Fame A6M5. :aok
Incredible sound to that engine!
-
One nice sounding lawn mower
:lol
-
I like the sound, it has that old-fasioned crackle to the exhaust note.
-
Doesn't that one have a P&W engine?
-
If it is its a very low powered one. Thing took forever to get up to speed after the takeoff.
-
Maybe some of the custom sound guys can add that to their sound packs.
-
Nope I was wrong..see link

If you wanna hear an incredible sound, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5TrGL4-lFo&search=peter%20frampton

Dam that was a beautiful sight. One of what, 3 left in the world?
-
There are quite a few examlpes etill around, but I think only 2 airworthy.
Thats the only one with the real Sakae engine though.
-
Crowd seemed awfully close. Loved the Frampton vid!
-
The sound is what you hear from the ground with doppler. (wonderfull).
We need also a record from inside cockpit.
-
Sweet! Surprisingly loud, but I guess that is what you get with straight exhaust stubs from cylinders. :)

You're kidding right? I think it took like 8 seconds from the time he started to roll, maybe 200-300 feet? :D

what a horrible sound!!!
compare it to this beauty

Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but hands down, bar none, the P-51 has the sweetest sound of all. NOTHING sounds like a mustang, either in the air or on the ground.
(Never have been able to figure that out, the RR merlin engine was in a number of different aircraft but none of them sound like the Mustang)

you havent heard a mossie flying then.
besides, spit is better :)
-
sounds like my landscaper Pedro's leafblower.
-
It is interesting to see how fast the A6M5 seems in that video. A bit slower than the Spitfire in the other video and the P-51s I have seen in reality, but still markedly faster than normal prop jobs.
Definately a fighter.
:lol to the people who think a 1200hp engine sounds like a lawnmore or leaf blower.

Spitfire making some noise ;) (http://ajlowell.readyhosting.com/Movies/spit18.mpg)
Might want to save it as it tries to open quick time for some reason...

The last flying Mossie crashed in July, 1996, killing both people onboard. :(

That video you linked is a Spit XVIII with a Griffon engine. I think a Griffon 65 like in the Mk XIV.
