Title: Fostex X-15
Post by: Mr Big on May 19, 2006, 10:12:20 PM
Anyone remember this 4-track?

I bought one in 1984, with a friend. It's was amazing back then. I didn't even play an instrument, but I paid half

I still have some recordings made on the X-15. It was the newest thing back then... still have a few recordings I made with it.

I have three cassette tapes full of projects.....all made on a fostex x-15 between 1984 and 87.  I cut the best stuff into digital a few years back and put it all on a CD (my first CD woohoo!).

I listen to it from time to time.  I made some good stuff back then.

Ahh, the good old days of razors, blocks, china markers and tape. I used to do a lot of editing on Ampex and Tascam machines. Got a box of tapes stashed somewhere with all my old radio stuff on them.

I have a shoebox full of old cassettes. Some of them I have on my computer, but most are stuck on cassette in X-15 format.

I saw a mint condition X-15 on ebay the other day. 50 bucks. I need to buy one and get all my garbage onto the computer before the tapes turn to dust ;)

Last year I threw out a bunch of master tapes. They were 1/2" 8 track, reel to reel tapes recorded on a Tascam. I now regret throwing them out.

I wish I had the time to record stuff again.

Ive been using Guitar Tracks Pro for the past few years to capture decent digital stuff on the PC.  I just recently purchased a Korg mini synth and have been having fun with it but time is definately hard to come by these days.....

Ive never been good at developing entire pieces of music but rather use the technology to capture bits and pieces of ideas...with the intent of someday laying everything out in order.  Someday.....plus I suck at lyrics.
