im gonna start here http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahgs/techvidres.html (http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahgs/techvidres.html)
http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahhelp/vidsettings.html (http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahhelp/vidsettings.html)
now seeing that you only have Memory: 384MB RAM
your gonna be limited to 256 textures
max texture size corrisponds with your systems memory amount
you dont have enough for system memory preload
your 5500 128mb video card doesnt have enough ram to preload in video memory
i would suggest deleate the video8.cfg file in your htc/aceshigh2 /settings folder andthen restart the game set it to 256 and probely 800x600 . this might work ... you biggest problem is Ram ... you dont really have enough as for xp is a huge ram hog ...
you can also try a endthis type program that will trim down some of the running processes in xp (this will free up some ram too)
or just go out and get more ram ... 1 gig would make your pc scream nicely .
-
Ok i not very good at this so how do i get to htc/aceshigh2/settings folder? and if i would just delete some other games that use a lot of memory to get back the mem would it work?

C:\program files\htc\aces high 2\settings

NO , it doesnt work that way ....
-
Ok it worked much better now thanks but it still does it:mad: so the only other way is to go get a 1gig ram right?
-
you could get away with 512 ram but 1 gig would really wake your pc up .
-
I'd suggest checking how many processes he has running too, I noticed its a Compaq/HP product.
Also note he's going to need the more expensive RAM being that its a Compaq. It may not be worth it on that computer, depending on how old it is.
Just sayin. Its definitely worth looking into, but I wouldnt get my hopes up.
-
U should be using 61.77 drivers for your video card. The ones u have installed doesn't really benefit that card. U can get them from the nvidia site under arhcives.
-
Switch to the 61.77 drivers before you do anything else. All drivers after that actually have some type of issue with the 5000 series of video cards from NVidia.
-
Hmm im not good with computers,so what i should do is get 61.77 drivers for my card then get some more memory like 1gig right?
-
Cheapest thing to do is try the drivers first, then upgrade ram if needed still. I weakest computer has 512meg. My best computer has 2 gig of cas 2 memory.
Here is the link for the drivers:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77.html

I flew AH just fine without a gig of RAM. It'll run great on 512MB.
As somebody already said, however, 1GB will "really wake your PC up". You have a fast CPU, a good video card, but your RAM is holding you back.
Now, I'm not saying "Go out and buy more RAM!" -- try different video card drivers first. I flew AH on a P3 650MHz with 320MB RAM for many years. It *is* possible. It will run.
So try everything else before you sink money into more RAM. If you do get more RAM later, then that's great, but if you can get by without it now, better!

that was ah1 Krusty ... it was more forgiving .
he might try dropping the sound excelleration down a notch too .
ac97 sound can be alittle picky it ussually shows up as a few mins in the game then it hard locks or sound loops

I used that same rig for some months after AH2 came out. What really held me back was the CPU and 3D. I got a better 3D and was even able to fly on the old CPU for a while, just not around CV fleets or burning B24s (LOL).
He's got a way faster system than I did, so I think he could pull it off with that much RAM, easily.
I now know first-hand that RAM really helps (a lot) but you can get by without it.
