call me biased but this setup is amongst the most evenly matched ones featured in this arena. I have been pounded equally in the F4U as in the 109. I haven't tried the F6F because frankly it seems far too easymode to me and I'm just not interested to play in it.
the idea of utilizing the CVs has worked ok but it has taken considerable player pressure to keep some players from sinking the allied CVs and thereby ending the fun. It has also been hard to get some allied players to refrain from beaching the fleets. the biggest fun killer is when some dudley divebomber takes out both of the allied CV's radar causing the allied team to play blind.
I'd like to hear from the players they're opinion of the matchup and any critizism would be welcome. please post either here.
as for myself I'm glad the seafire was not included in this setup. it's absense has really allowed the blue planes to shine.
There have been some really great fights all of the memorable ones I've been involved with, the outcome has really been determined by the player.
Thanks OM and AvA staff for going out on a limb and hosting this off the wall and potentially dull set up.

this is an excelent setup.
most profound about this last few days is the attitudes of the pilots.
devil may care furballs and very little alt monkey score whoring. Ho's are less frequent and gang bangs are returned in equal proportions.
the plane match up is perfect, the luftwaffe having a slight advantage for once with the addition of the 190a5 as the secondary aircraft.
the notion that the F6F is an easy mode plane is untrue, the F4U far out performs its little brother in the majority of cases and if not for the large target size of the corsair's gulls, the f6f would be totaly pointless. as it is they compliment each other if the hellcat is used as as secondary fighter much like the A5.
109s vs F4us is what you're going to get, and what you will find yourself doing the best in for each side unless you happen to be seasoned in the secondary rides.
over all on an AvA rating of 1-10 i would give this setup a healthy 8.

Works for me. :) I like anything that gets to show off the Hog, and we so very rarely get to showcase it vs German iron.
What really amazed me was just how well the FW A-5 does in here. Granted the guys flying it are for the most part really good sticks in a FW, but still. I expected the F4U-1 to absolutely dominate the FW and be the equal of the 109s, and that has not been the case at all. Nothing dominates in this setup, and thats perfect.
The only problem I had with the setup was having the neutral fleet cruising right through the middle of the Allied fleets, made it rather difficult taking off. That seems to have been fixed though, and I know Oldman took care of the problem with the Tirpitz not respawning. Every time I've tried it this weekend it seems everyone is having fun with it, and thats the important thing. I'd say its a hit!

I've been there yesterday and I must admit that this is a very ballanced setup and very fun.
No plane is dominating any other in any department. Some are a little faster some are a little better turners but never by a significant measure.

errr.... do not insult the kitty...
The hellcat is not smaller than the F4u and actually it has bigger wing area. The F6F is not pointless just due to the fact the the F4U is not only ugly and bent out of shape, but the guys at Vought were holding the blueprints upside down while assembling the wings.

Certainly I've had a lot of fun. Both the 109 and the FW do well here, as does the Corsair, of course. Haven't heard any whining, which is rare.
Hellcat is the most difficult plane to fly well in this match, I think. It isn't fast enough to b&z with for very long, doesn't hold its energy well against the 109s, has a few tricks of its own if you're careful.
Remember to use the RAF skins for the blue planes!

Nice setup :aok (but fields too far from each other)
Turnfight in 109G-2 vs both F6F and F4U1 is pure fun. If can find 1 vs 1 fight, of course.

intesting point about the wing span, and it makes sense.
i still give my vote to the F4u 90 times out of 89 :D

Everyone has been having such a good time, and I have been left out! :cry
Too much "stuff" in RL right now. Hope I can get back in before the set up is over.
Before you say "but you have time to post, go fly" (too late, I heard your brainwaves), I try not to fly unless I have a reasonable expectation of being undisturbed -- and since I have my 3 1/2 year old on my lap, this does not qualify as undisturbed . :)
