Title: BUG - MG firing
Post by: Enduro on May 27, 2006, 01:01:15 AM
Just installed the latest patch to see what's new in AH2.  I noticed that my MG's appear to be firing (at least, the plane vibrates and the sound of the MG's can be heard) whenever I bank hard in a high-G turn.

Is this a known bug in the game?  Or, is my Waffle sound pack incompatible with this version of AH?

Thanks!  :)

Thats your plane reacting to a buffet that is on, or close to a stall.

Welcome to the new AH2.

what an odd addition.  hehe

i checked my "stress" file in the sounds folder--wasn't it.  whatever file it is, i hope to find it and delete it asap.

who in the hell needs that loud of a warning before stalling?  :D

Go to game sounds and turn "stall buffet" volume down below 30.  Won't be confused with MGs sound then.

After the patch that caused that sound, I nearly died of panic a few times.

Of course, why would you be in a high G turn?  Evasion.   So, every time I was evading, or turning hard to attack, I heard the bastage firing CLOSE ON MY SIX.   I was ripping the plane around like Old Hogan's Ghost before I realized I was alone.

How embarassing.

Turn down the sound, it makes for less stressful flying.

I think you can also replace the sound. The default sounds are no longer .wavs, but custom .wavs still work. IIRC, the "MG effect" is 'buffet', so, you should be able to replace it by adding a different sound of your choice, and naming it buffet.wav.

TBolt replace the buffet sound with the "Whoop Whoop, Pull Up!" I sent you a while back.

Maybe code in the GPWS shoutouts of:

"Too Low, Flaps"
"Too Low, Gear"
"Glideslope, Glideslope"
"Terrain, Pull Up"
"Sink Rate"

etc :)

:)  the first time I heard all that racket, I had a Pony-B on my six; so, naturally I thought I was hearing his guns as he shot at me.  Kept turnin' harder and harder to evade until I finally lost lift and crashed.

Golfer, "sink rate" "sink rate" would've been fun to listen to right before red screen.  :o

---

Dropped the volume for that sound effect to zero--won't be a problem anymore.

Even the smallest calibre MGs vibrate the plane...
