Hamachi is good stuff, and it's well respected for attention to security. It is possible to use AH1 or AH2 across the Internet with it, in "Free H2H" mode, under Windows XP and/or Linux.

Fitzy, it's best to post a New Thread in the Hardware and Software part of this Forum.

You posted a REPLY in someone else's thread in the Hardware and Software section.

You'll have faster and better responses if you start your own thread.

Hmmm, from what I can see so far one minor and one big one :)

Minor problem: they vaguely refer to the use of relaying. This could alude to them using a mesh type approach like skype do in some instances. This could result in you carrying traffic for other vpn users (ie not AH players).

Major problem: you open your network up for infection. By creating a VPN you are effectively sharing your entire network, so if a player joins to play via VPN and has a nasty virus then this virus will do its best to spread across the VPN tunnel and into your network. You either need a lot of trust or know that your players have top notch AV (no AVG type rubbish).

I've used it over the last year.  No security issues.  Works very handy, however it appears to have bandwidth limitations.  I did use it to play multiplayer with several friends who did not have valid cd keys if you get my drift.  Worked like a charm, but it larger games with more players there is a fair amount of lag.

It also works great for older games that used a large server to connect all of its players over the internet and that server no longer exists.  If the game allowed you to play LAN games, you can then play over the internet.
