Betas......specially Beta for aces highII.  Lots of good singular fights in a variety of planes.  No ho's....was just all good ACM to experience the new FMs.   Most of those who flew the Beta were vets also....wotta souprise!

i really liked how simple AH1 was. the perfectly lined up hangers, the net vbase that exploded into pieces. im not being sarcastic. AH1 was just alot more fun for me.

The Beta times featured a far, far better gameplay for having fun.

I suppose it was worse then for those who can actually don the robe and wizard hat and imagine they really are Adolph Galland, Saburo Sakai, Dick Bong or Gabby Gabreski.

Same was true of WB beta Hajo, it's the "score" factor that spoils things unfortunately.

I like how the main arenas played in AH1 and now, it means if you are even considering devoting yourself to get good at dogfighting you're already 3/4s of the way up the food chain.




What we really need to do, those who love the beta style old skool fights, is get together in the DA and split teams.


we could even set up times for DA beta furballs each day so you know you can log in and find one going.


i would be well up for helping organise.

I'd agree with you if the DA had a "normal"terrain.

As it is, it's flat with airfields on tiny mesas.

Put the original Beta terrain into the DA and it's perfect, I agree.

During beta the dar was not necessary in AH ... 2OK A1 was the place to kill or die !

A lot less player but a lot more funny environment , with 30 player (for all sides) there allways was a fight.

Now in a MA with 450 player full of dweeb,wimp,cowards,score-cretin there a lot less fight

I think i did  "played""early" beta, if it was what  we had 1999. Not much action in eurotimezone, at least not much in my timezone ;-). Surely feeling of  flying was different to compare what we have now. Every  dmn plane were "heavy" as H.ll to make any movement... ;-)
Offcourse time makes old time feel better we have now;-).."I was young and strong and had hair etc"..... ;-)
About dar, all who came  from wb(majority  of beta "testers" were used no infligt dar.

Allmost  forgot...beta  not my best time in AH  ;-)

The Beta for AH2 when it was still AH1.99patchxyz.

Some mooks had de-acked two opposing CV groups and put them on parallel courses about 10k apart. Instant mindless furball for ages. :)
