the white crosses are hidden in the background ....

I don't think they've ever done a Memorial Day logo.
I've been browsing my collection of google logos and can't find one.
-
Logos here (http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html)
They've never done a logo for Memorial Day or Veteran's Day.
Most of their logos are celebratory. Memorial Day is not a celebration. Sure... we all have our barbecues and beer with family and friends, but this isn't the point of the holiday, I believe.

Spot on, Sandy. This is suppossed to be a day of rememberance. Somewhere along the way it became the start of summer celebration.
-
i heard on the radio that memorial day started shortly after the end of the civil war & altered to it's present state of fishing, bbq & other summertime fun by the 1880s

Over this? I don't think so....google works to well to boycott for something as simple as this.
Now....if I where a person of conviction I'd boycott over their caving into chinese censorship demands or them systematically removing conservative bloggers from their servers......
but alas I really don't care all that much.

Sandman, not sure about how you celeberate memorial day. The only day we have up here that is similar, is Remembrance day (veterans day in the US?) November 11th.
For me November 11th is a time of reflection, a time of remembrance, and indeed, a time of celebration. I celebrate the men and women who gave me what I have today. Freedom.
Maybe that's the way we can keep the memory of those who sacrificed thier time, and some thier lives, alive. We can celebrate our freedom, because some gave it to us, and some stand on guard (and still lose thier lives) today to ensure we keep it.
Not a criticism sir, just how I see it up here.
cheers,
all veterans

...and I'm not certain Halloween is a strictly American thing. As for the lunar landing, Armstrong said it best. :)
