OZKansas I think is what your referring to as "festers FT map", but he also released FesterMA too within that timeframe.

Yup OZkansas was what I was refering to and might add that I really think another map or two would greatly help some of the boredom.

I would love to build a map but the map builder always seems to crash on me. I will try it again and see if I can get it to work.... then I just need to figure it out... program is wierd!

If I'm right donut map took something like 2 years

All the map makers are working on AvA and SEA maps...
If you want good maps MA simply isnt the place to be..
Tex

Heres a wild idea...
The guy we pay $$ to to play this game should get on point and pump out some maps.
I'd bet if HT took a pole, crapppy, stale maps would be a top complaint.
-
Because the guy we pay money to is busy making other stuff. Just in case you forgot.

A MA style map can be built in less than 12 hours. Which usually adds up to a few weeks considering not many (if any) map makers have the patience to sit down 12 hours straight working on a terrain. The problem with MA maps is you basically build it however you want. And what you like is not what everyone else may like. People whine about every map in rotation.
Whereas maps for the AvA and SEA are built to be historically accurate and playable. It takes a lot more time, effort and know-how to build these types of maps.
Everyone whining about the maps discourages some people from building a map for the MA. Why dedicate time and effort to something that will just be criticized and complained about?
Why not try a new approach, instead of whining, try motivating some map makers?
If I recall, there was a contest promoted by players to see who could have the most successful tour in a P40B and there was a prize for the winner? Why not do the same for a map. Maybe get some people into a contest, entering fee is $5. The $5 could be sent to HTC and build up a money pool. Give a 2-3 month deadline. Whomever builds the best map recieves the money (or it can go to paying for a few months subscription).
Win-Win situation, community gets a few more maps in rotation, motivation for some people to put effort into building a decent map.

Well I'm gonna download the terrain editor and see how gnarly it is. There's a design I started working on with NUTTZ 5 years ago I can fiddle with. Don't know how popular it'd be, but it'd be interesting.
---- EDIT ----
It crashed 3 times in a row just trying to define a base water texture ... oh well ...

lol funny stuff there. I want proof.

The 13th TAS contracted Fester to make the OZKansas map in honor of a squaddie who passed on to cancer.
It was worth every penny we paid for it. The original map was a work of art on Festers part ... AH II forced it to be changed (older tiles didn't work) which kinda took the edge off it ... along with resetting furball island back to all planes as opposed to just early war planes.

I know of at least 1 new map waiting in the wings. I am also prepared for all of the whining about it. There's no TT and an area that will most likely become designated the FT area by everyone. But that area will become quite dangerous under certain circumstances.
That is IF it goes online. :)

Why in the world should a paying customer have to build maps. What are we paying for:rofl

There have been some good maps over the years, both from HTC and the players. I think the players should be compensated enough to motivate them (and others) to make more. I know it's a PITA, and it seems we either have too small or too large a map up at any given point in time. Maybe some changes in guidelines and size would liven things up a bit. Perhaps allow people to revamp existing terrains could also help in that regard.
Anyway, point being, I know what a time consuming and frustrating chore it can be, and the reward should equal the effort, especially considering the burden that could be lifted off HTC by encouraging people to generate maps. Maps could be beta tested in the BUMA, we could have a little Beta forum for maps, etc. The busier we are playing with new gizmos and buttons, the less likely we are to gripe. ;)

Not his either. If you decide you arent getting enough for your 14.95, dont pay for it. Problem solved. Thats how the system works.

Here's an idea, we get a price from Fester for 6 new maps over the next 12 months. Once the price is established HTC posts a MOTD asking for those so inclined if they'd kick in an extra buck for a month or so until the cost of the maps was satisfied.
Wait! Before you ask, "Whaddabout the freeloaders who don't contribute?" I thought of that too :aok New maps are password protected...the freeloaders fly Uterus the rest of their' lives :D

Our man Flaydone has been working on a map for some time.
See here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=175027 (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=175027)
Flayd's yet to get any response from HTC about his map. We're all scratching our heads as to why he can't even get a response as to if his concept is good or not and if it would be considered for the MA map rotation.
Flayd's put a lot of time into it and has mastered the tempermental map editor. At least give the man some feedback. :aok

Call Skuzzy...pretty sure he's the "goto" guy on skins and maps.
