Rod is 100%
NOE is under 500 feet.
It's an arena setting.
-
ill agree with the dot dar but i do think dar bar is 200

i think so also..
-
Both under 500, dot and bar.
-
Under 200mph and below 200ft is thumbrule for torpedo bombing....nothing to do with radar, but i think thats where they get it from?????:huh
-
I used to tell guys it was 200ft so they wouldnt screw up. Me personnally, when I'm NOE I fly just high enough to keep my prop out of the water :)
-
If I'm not dodging trees, its too high :)

I never called you a newbie. But, it was raised in version 1.09 or 1.10. It use to be lower than 500ft.
And I was trying to figure out when HT programmed a flight sim for AOL since I had back end access from about 1992 through 1999 or 2000 and never saw anything in the game area for a flight sim until AW for AOL. Anything is possible, I could have missed it. (Looking at my last programming contract from 1998 which I refused, which caused the eventual shutdown of a game area on AOL).
To drop a couple of names that HT might recognize... Larry Schick and Rob Jennings?
-
Maybe they confused the 200 foot icon range thing?
-

I have been playing for close to 5 years now ... it has always been lower than 500 ft AGL ... most don't know that.
If ya don't believe it ... go to an obscure part of the map where there are no friendlys in the sector ... lift off and once you are above 500 AGL ... you will light up the dar bar.
Both under 500, dot and bar.
dot dar is ALWAYS on ... unless radar has been porked.

Except your own dot doesn't light up the dar bar. At least on my end it doesn't.
In any case, I guess I was imagining things. I stand corrected. :)

I thought you couldnt see your own 'der ber', i.e the E sees it but you dont... it takes two friendlies to see a green bar, no?..yes?

Trying to figure out what 'der ber" is ...
If it is "dar bar" ... it only takes 1 guy at 500 ft AGL or above to make it go off. Friendlys see it as green ... enemy sees it as red.
Think about it people ... have you ever seen an NOE mission, over water, and noticed all the little green dots all jammed together, and if they are all under 500 ft AGL, you see no green dar bar ?
Dot dar is ALWAYS on ... it has no bearing on altitude ... it strictly depends on radar. If radar is down ... then no dot dar.
-
but enemy dot dar doesnt see you if you're under 500ft

Correct.
You will not show on enemy dot dar until you are within the radar circle and above 500 AGL. The base will flash tho ... once you pierce the radar circle ... no matter what altitude your at. I believe that the radar circle is 24 miles in diameter.
-
Nhawk it was just jebus saying Newbie idiot, i know you were pretty sure of 200ft. that is because most say 200ft to newbie so they don't screw up noe. I would never say i've been here longer than you i know beter unless i was sure who i was talking to. some of us been around long time change names when we changed into new squad or left to fight on another country. Best way to learn about game is next new map agree to be tester before it comes into main. You really learn alot fast in s and outs of AH. but when new maps come out you only see same few testing it to get bugs out. AOL game you and I speak of WAs called Fighter OPS guys like Dh367th , pacerr, Lynx among many others first flew there.

Actually I think radar perimeter for a base or object is 10 miles, and the town dot will flash first before the whole base starts flashing, or maybe its 24 miles for radar circle, town flashes, then 10 miles out the whole base flashes...

Well ya peaked my interest ... I just lifted from A20 (all by myself) and after I was over 500 ft AGL and climbed to 10,000 ft ... no dar bar ... so it looks like dar bar doesn't consider yourself in it's equation.
Just goes to show ya ... ya learn something new every day.

looking at Help, "field radar in a 12.5 mile radius"

Rod. I apologize i did not know who you were. If i new you were H2Oman i would have believed you. But lately when ever i sign on i hear some 2 week free trail kid tell me everything they know about the game. So once again I apologize
I never heard of 500 feet NOE, and when you said it i went to my laptop and starting looking it up. I never got a chance to apologize. If you dont except it that is fine. But can you see where i am coming from with the 2 week trail kids.

I was always told below 200ft as well, but later confirmed it was 500. I figured somebody along the way started telling folks to fly under 200ft because I doubt most people can hold alt in a course correction. The 300ft difference gives them a little pad. I know I dont hold alt real well when I make course corrections so the 300ft pad deffinately helps me.

np remember 2weekers can read.. every detail is out there you just have to read. some 2weekers read up on game before trying. so if 2weeker came on says something if i'm not sure i double check. but all i do is set him or her st8 tell them where to find out info . if not for newbies this game couldn't build to great sim.

Isn't 200' the alt at which your icon disappears?

no icon disappears at 499ft so does your dar bar .

I think he means when in icon range (6.0) you can't tell what the ac is.
Bronk
-
No, I did mean that there's an alt at which your icon disappears, due either to a setting, or just that it's lost in the terrain. I suppose it could have been changed, but I was fairly certain it was at a lower alt than radar.
-
ok....NOE.... it's 200 vs 500......
Anyone from HT out there?
what is it?

It depends on arena settings. You can look it up yourself, youīll find it under
SETUP->Arena Setup->Environment->Radar Alt
currently itīs at 500
But to be honest, if you had asked me before I read this thread, I would have answered "200", īcause thatīs what everybody said. Sometimes common knowledge is wrong knowledge... ;)
-
in the old days of AH1. When they changed over to AH2, it got changed.
But I still tell everybody to stay under 200 feet, just because.
-
Don't forget the 200' trees.

Now thats where you are wrong. Its been 500 in AH since I been here
and it was 200 in AW the whole time. There are dozens of AW game ops here that can tell you the same and prolly thousands of AW players here
that can concur.
And its where the confusion in here derives.
And even your thread title says so.
-
Hey I always thought it was '200, I feel so lied to. :aok
