The leading name in the proposals for the Lockheed F-35 JSF is.................
Lightning II
-
jeeze... they tried to name the F-22 that also.
Why not call it what it is?
'Pogo'.
;)
-
The Sandblaster.
-
They should call it the Crusader to impress all our middle eastern friends.
-
F-35 Imherebutyoucantseemeonradar
-
I remember that there was talk about naming the F-16 the 'Mustang II'.
F-35 Uniter
F-35 Not-A-Divider

World Order 2.0 SP3
-
Fasterandlessharrier
-
I like Fury or Hawk.
-
They should name it after the one of the two greatest strike aircraft of all time. The Intruder II or the Skyhawk II. :D
-
Hawk and Fury have been used for fighters already, too bad, I like the sound of both.
Mmmm, how about Peregrine?
-

Muahahhahahhahhahha!!.. ahh yes. The original 'The Invisible Avenger'...
What evil lurks in the soul of the enemy?

The SHADOW knows.
bah, if your going to play with that, do it right:
weed should be seed,
sould should be hearts, and that phrase should be preceded by who knows
and the muhahahahahaha goes after the last bit.

F-35 Poltergeist.
I like it.
-
Dang you Gunslinger, you beat me to it.
In Red Storm Rising, Tom Clancy had the fictious stealth F19 codenamed 'Ghostrider'. Me like it :aok
Poltergeist sounds cool too.
-
F35 BudgetBuster :D
-
How about...Reaper?
Naa, too morbid.
Banshee? Dragon? Manticore? Djinni? Demon?
Dragon maybe ;)
-
By todays popular names over there it will prolly be F35 Freedom or Freedomfighter II
-
I like the name "Flying Falcon type R " myself... It's like an F-16, but with go-fast carbon fiber!
-
LOL :D
-
Our Aussie ones are going to be called one of these:
F-35 Wecouldn'taffordtheF22

F-35 Eidolon
(http://www.defence.gov.au/raaf/images/for_site/corporate/f35.gif)
-
Flying Buttplug
-
SpitfireII is also on the short list of names.
-
F-35 Katrina!
-
F-35 Moonbat
-
How bout the Titan or the Spartan?
-
Ok, second pick:
F-35 Wright Flyer Mk. II
-
I still think Crusader is the best name.
However The Edsel is pretty catchy as well.
-
Since some variants of the JSF will hover I'd choose something that demonstrates the aircrafts capability. The forerunner of the Harrier was the Kestrel and that's what I'd call it. Perhaps another falcon type of name for the conventional aircraft?
-
F/A-35A Spotted Owl
-
We've had the Phantom, and the Spirit, how about the F35 Specter?
-
F-35...Phaser, yea that's the ticket! The F-35 Phaser. It's the fastest jet! It can shoot down anything, yea...
-
F-35 donut.

-
F-35 Pillowbiter
Or,
F-35 Homewrecker
Or,
F-35 California Liberal
Or, my favorite,
The F-35 Pothead
I've still to come up with one that addresses the vertical takeoff capabilities of the Marine model, but I'll get back to you as soon as I have a candidate.

Pale Horse

Crusader has already been taken, I believe that was the Navys F-8.

F-35 Native American

F-35 Zorch (http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?go_button.x=0&go_button.y=0&s=zorch&ff=1)
Hacker Slang
1. [TMRC] v. To attack with an inverse heat sink.
2. [TMRC] v. To travel, with v approaching c [that is, with velocity approaching lightspeed —ESR].
3. [MIT] v. To propel something very quickly. “The new comm software is very fast; it really zorches files through the network.”
4. [MIT] n. Influence. Brownie points. Good karma. The intangible and fuzzy currency in which favors are measured. “I'd rather not ask him for that just yet; I think I've used up my quota of zorch with him for the week.”
5. [MIT] n. Energy, drive, or ability. “I think I'll punt that change for now; I've been up for 30 hours and I've run out of zorch.”
-
Wait! I have it!
This is the answer.
As the F-35 is designed to be a relatively inexpensive, modern fighter, the obvious choice of the name becomes clear.
The F-35 Zergling.
That is all.
