for those of you that have an opinion...
the shortest political quiz of all time.
10 second political poll (http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html)
-
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c224/daveman123/draw.png)
Right on the line between Libertarian and Conservative..what I expected
-
Centrist
(http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz-score/draw.php?p=6&e=4)
-
LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and
economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one
that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.
Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose
government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate
diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties..
Sounds about right,....
-
same here. (centrist)
-
Centrist.
CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government
control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on
the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention
and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.
Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,
tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what
they describe as "practical" solutions to problems
-
LIBERAL..right on edge of Libertarian..lol
-
Mostly Libertarian with a very slight lean to the conservative Right.
Which yet again makes me wonder why I'm still a registered Democrat. I never vote that way lol.
-
Conservative.
Interesting that the largest demographic group is Libertarian.
-
Libertarian
-
(http://www.geocities.com/johnvan52/draw.gif)
Hmm . I knew I had Libertarian leanings, but didn't expect to be 100% Libertarian.................. .... No wonder I'm always getting my post replaced with -5 -6, and -7.:)
-
(70,80) Most people agree in Libertarian principles, they just don't agree with the libertarian party.
But given the choice between voting for the libertarian party, and having the democrats in office, Libertarians 4/5 would rather vote for a republican.

No surprise there, although this survey seems biased to produce lots of libertarian results.

no doubt. not one question on the "quiz" was what for me is a major voting stance. things i vote for are the candidate's stance on abortion, religion, schooling, taxes, gay marrige, and moral values.
those matter to me in an election, just as something else may be your own personal voting platform.
-
here's mine:
ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,
The political description that
fits you best is...
.
CONSERVATIVE
CONSERVATIVES tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently
support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional
values." They oppose excessive government control of business,
while endorsing government action to defend morality and the
traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong
military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market
economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.
hap
p.s. i may be conservative but i sure don't fancy the conservatism since TV has turned into soundbites and Americans turned apathetic and ignorant.

Libertarian

-
now.. if yer favorite politician was to have his vote record married up with that goofly lil questionaire, wonder what his/her chart would look like?
[rant] every politician should come with a voting chart, contents label, financial statement, piss test and blood record. All the crap they know about ME, I wanna know about THEM.
lyin corrupt bastards..
*sorry*[ /rant]

Gawdammit!
You really do make me want to STRANGLE you all.....
..... If only I didn't love you so much. :)
This so-called "test" is the very creation of a libertarian website.
the url?
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
So go ahead. Knock off the "/quiz.html" portion of that url and you're now greeted by such headlines as "Read why Hugh Downs says the libertarian philosophy is "attractive and needed."
So look at it like this...
I'm a liberal, and I'm gonna ask you a bunch of questions....
And I'm gonna tally up almost any ****ing thing that you say and act all suprised that - wow! - what a coincidence.... You agree with liberals and you should check out this handy link to an informative website.
Jebus.... it'd be brain-dead simple to make all your answers point to some liberal sector of a graph... no matter how skewed the questions are and no matter how skewed your answers were.
I guess it's just uncanny that a test that defies odds and percentages suddenly has most people pegged as libertarians... and even odder still that this test is run from a libertarian website, right?
-
are you saying i'm not a ninja?!??
i will fill you fulll of throwing stars so fast you'll think you were run over by a propellor factory...
-
Liberal Libertarian :)

Agreed.
Took the test several times using a variety of answers but each near my own beleifs.
Frst one I took had me 100% liberatarian.
Subsequent tests had me liberatarian but leaning either to the right or the left but still libertarian.
Could just be an amusing ploy to get more people to support the liberterian party
-
Yup. Thats exactly what I think it is. Go to the homepage. Its a liberterian website.
Heh, they are learning how to play the game
-
Mine said "Librarian".
-
If you take only those questions then nash is right.... only a real wussie or tyrant would be anything but a strong libertarian.
the thing that makes the test accurate is also touched on by nash... he claims he could make a test that had as many fundamental platforms that would make you a liberal.... I doubt that.
I am an individualist. It is close to a libertarian but with less rules.

:rofl :aok
Close. Mine says "independent leaning towards anarchist"..............but it doesn`t place it on the chart.
-
Seems I'm one of the only conservatives on the board as grouped and blood-typed by the poll. ;-)
Nash, however, is correct. The test is skewed Libertarian and really doesn't ask enough analytical questions to distinguish between (for instance):
A Libertarian and an Anarchist
A Libertarian and Economic Conservative/Social Liberal
A Capitalist Liberal and a Socialist
And so on...
Some of the questions are also vague as to application, in that I don't believe in a draft in times of peace, but in the event of a world war, I'd support a draft. I also believe that the government should have the power of retaliatory tariffs and trade restrictions, so that if we can't sell products in your country, you shouldn't be allowed to sell them in ours, we shouldn't indiscriminately give away the shop on military high tech, if your country has an utterly abominable human rights record you shouldn't be rewarded with MFN status and so on, but the only option was "end government barriers to free trade"
All of which make the quiz more of a "push poll" than a scientific tool.

Of course... funny thing is; on republican sponsored polls I come up a republican. on democratic sponsored polls i come up as a nazi.
go figure. ;)
-
mmmmmm, maybe
(http://www.inettek.com/misc/draw.jpg)
-
I'm a Conservative.
I didn't need a liberal poll to tell me that. :D
-
This isn't a dig on libertarian, republican, dems or anything else:
It is odd, to me, that so many people seek out ways to be categorized. There are a number of polls that serve to slap a label on someone that get posted in this forum. Well... maybe not alot, but enough that leave me scratching my head.
-
You're just jealous because you got C-3PO in the last "which Star Wars character are you" poll.
-
That poll was rigged!
-
LOL...centrist, libertarian, conservative? I think it's trying to tell me to make a choice & get off the fence.

I think we need to turn the tables.. as I posted up thread:

I don't quite get that hangtime... what exactly are you asking for? You can get access to any congressman's voting record. What do they have on you that provides them with information that will get them your vote?
And just what, exactly, would that tell you about his idea on issues outside of this scope?
The simple answer: absolutely nothing.
I tend to believe that a politicians aproach to issues is more significant than his/her view on the issues. Basically, the fact that someone would want to fit into one of these specific categories would make me less likely to vote for them.
