Why does AcesHigh have all those Nazi! planes and not the plane that won the war ?

This game is not that old. It did not burst on to the scene with complete and total availability of every single proto and production type that flew in WW2.
For their own reasons, HTC started with a later planeset. Every release sees more aircraft added. Perhaps someday they will have done them all. I hope the game and I last long enough to see that.
In the meantime, I just play and enjoy myself.
Know what? It just keeps getting better with every release.
So, take a deep breath and.........play.

I have to say, your trolling skills are excellent. You have had practice in another forum... I can tell.
I have to disagree with Toad, however. I would have to only give you a 9.7. Sure you have used caps judiciously, but you haven't combined them with lower case letters to form uNATurAL combinations. Also, you spelling isn't half bad. That's an extra .2 deduction.

Ripsnort is correct, the Hurricane is the fighter that won the BoB. The Spitfire got the glory though. The Spitfire is my favorite aircraft, but what is true, is, well, true.
What you want to be asking for is a Spitfire MkIa, unless you really want the 2 blade prop and 4 .303s of the MkI.
HTC is doing the mid-late war first, later on early war aircraft will be added.
I would recommend being a bit less confrontational.

Spitfire I is the best Spitfire. AcesHi has the Mark IX and V, but Mark I outturns them all. I used to beat all of them in EAW at the zone.
Yes, the engine has a cutoff, but when later Roll Royce Sabre was added it waas solved. And the engine had more than 1000 horsepower !!!

Ok Spit Fire, listen carefully and I will assist you in your desires.
From the hanger, grab a spit V, when you get it on the runway, press your secondary weapon button and hold it down until all of your cannon rounds are expended.
Then go ahead and take off. You're now flying a Spit MK I for all intents and purposes.

Only when Luftwhafe introduced 190 the Germans fought it out. The 190 was the only plane that was close to Spitfire in maneouverability, but EVEN THE 190 CAN'T TURN WITH SPITFIRE !!

all i can say is, this is a good sim and find a plane you like and get good in it, until u get your spit fire mk 1 but one thing u should realize, power = speed speed = advantage! in most cases, i have not out turned spit Vs and 9s but you can boom and zoom in a 109 very well, oh, one more thing, the 109 g2 turns very well, with the right pilot it can out turn a n1k2, under the right conditions and u cach the n1k2 pilot by suprize

Actually it was the superior RAF Pilots "mainly the polish ones" that won the BOB. Sure the spit was a good plane but in the hands of the LW it wouldnt have been nearly as sucessfull.
Aces high models higher octain fuel than the LW had in RL so I can understand how a 109 turning inside you would be confuseing but its all proper on the up and up and within game prameters. Of course I want the spitfire with the car wax field mod that smothed the skin enough to reduce drag and give it an extra 20mph. Then you would have no problem with those pesky uber 109s. I also want the 8 cannon version. This is all histroicly correct info I got it from a book, "forget the name but I remember it was about WW2" I didnt get this info from Movies and off of tv, which as we all know, sometimes isnt true. I deal in facts.

And that cutout bit fixed by the Sabre??? what are you on? exactly how many Sabre engined Spitfires where made? for that matter, the Sabre was made by Napier, RR had bugger all to do with it.
Any 109 driver worth their salt can 'out-turn' a Spit by using roll in the vertical, especially if you roll right and the Spitdweeb tries to follow you....fair enough, in a flat out horizontal turnfight at stall speed, your Spit may just stand a chance, pretty much any other situation, if the 109 driver knows what he's doing, your Spitfire is gonna start spitting fire.....from it's ruptured, flaming fuel tank, conveniently positioned in the best possible spot to BBQ the pilot.

Oh, BTW, two of my Great Uncles flew Spitfires in the Battle of Brittain, it is an awesome aircraft, and I have the utmost respect for the men who flew them. The Yanks are right, the BoB may have saved England from Operation Sealion....but it certainly didnt win the war, the B17, B24, B25,Lanc,Halifax,Boston,Wellington etc (Bomber Command and the 8thAF) did that by pounding into dust Germany's ability to make weapons of war and the fuel required to run them.....along with the courage and tenacity of the thousands of Allied troops who actually fought it out with the Wermacht on the ground.

Wasn't 1.944 the peak of German War Industrial Production? That puts a big question mark wether Buff Strat force won the war.
The war was won by terrestrial warfare and occupation of land. No doubt Strategic Bombing helped, but (and this is a personal opinion) given the results in terms of industrial output, the main contribution of the 8th AF to the end of the war was the killing of German interdictors.
OTOH, should UK lose the war, that would give Nazis a HUGE relief. First, would make U.S. entrance in the war blurry, second, would put the Lend&Lease in a doubtful position, third, would eliminate the 2 front war and free resources for Hitler to use in Barbarossa.....U.K. won the war?...possibly not, certainly not, but U.S. won it alone? ....

It wasn't - Germans pioneered the use of fuel injection in combat planes. It was as far as I recall a penny-sized washer placed in a carb that sorted the cut-out in Spits' motor (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

IMO, BOB was won by three main factors:
First and most important, extremely short range of german fighters.
Second, Radar.
Third, spies and inteligence service. And this includes the alteration of german radio signals to keep his the bombers in the correct bearing, making them to fail the targets over'n over with deviations of up to 100 km.
Without any of those factors the british hadn't have any chance. You can review the RAF results in the german advance over France and extrapolate.
And yep, in certain circunstances the 109F and G2 can outturn the nikkis, and even the spits. Obviously not at almost stall speeds.

Well... if there were an option on the spit 5 to pull a couple of plug wires, screw up the floats in the carb and remove the cannon... Would you do it? If you did you would have a Spit one. It would be fine to be virtually unarmed and slow if all the other planes you faced were (BOB) but not in the current arena. I think a manly plane like a Hog Hellcat or P47 could just ignore a Spit one shooting at em.

FYI USAAC (US Army Air Corps) policy at the beginning of the war was to not give aircraft names, All the names we know and love were supplied by the British for the lend-lease aircraft they flew, We eventually
adopted the British names as standred.

I've been playing a little of rowan's Battle of Britian game and I'm pretty confident we can duplicate most of the Spit I experience in AH with a little effort. Since BoB is a british game, it must have accurate spitfire modelling so we'll just make that assumption before we start.
First step will be to make sure your AH framerate never exceeds 20 fps at any time. If you have the bandwidth, downloading porn in the background is a safe bet, 56k users you will need to be more creative on this one.
Take a Spit V with 75% fuel load. While still on the runway empty your cannons. You won't need those. Plan a course so you don't encounter enemies until you cross a body of water.
Now take off but never run above 2/3rds throttle (for wep) for cruising speed about 1/2 should do it.
As you get closer to your destination inform the other team you are flying a spit I and ask that only early model 109s running at 2/3rds throttle come up to fight you.
Pay close attention to the G meter. Make sure to hit the E key on the keyboard whenever it goes negative. This is cruicial to the Spit I experience so make sure not to forget in a heated dogfight.
Finally, when you do have that evil 109 lined up in your sites, be sure to shake the stick around furiously to simulate the difficulty of aiming in BoB before opening fire.
That should do it. It will be just like BoB but in aces high. Happy Spit I flying!
