simple solution to the imigration problem: streamline the citizenship process. the main reason illegals dont bother doing it legally is because they dont have time, often their families are starving and they need a job immediately.
-
Make Mexico one of the United States of America and the problem is solved instantly. They have not taken delivery of that huge airforce of Su27s they ordered yet so they may not be able to stop it.

I've been saying that for years now.
Hell we probably woudnt even have to invade.
Just go down there and ask the people if they want it to be put to a vote and encourage them to get on their government to make it so.
then instead of illegal immigrants holding protests and demanding rights they dont deserve here.
You would have mexican holding protests to become part of the US down there.
If that fails we can just invade.
In short as Don Corleone once said "We make em an offer they cant refuse"

Ah well, even if you start mailing concrete slabs to your representative it still remains that you should have studied a few years more if you're afraid of illegal immigrants competing with you on the labormarket.
And you could have thrown a grad party as well...

Competing with illegal immigrants in this country is very much like competing with those to whom our jobs are outsourced in countries like India and China where people work for $.50/day or are forced laborers in government sweatshops.

you people keep dancing around the point, the point is they are in the USA ---ILLEGALY----
there are ways to enter the USA to work legally, sneaking in is not one of them.

Curious... are the french and germans swarming over yer dikes? I take it the netherlands will welcome everybody in to work, no impediments to access of your social services and all the privlidges of Dutch citizenship?

We should treat them just like Mexico treats their illegal immigration problem from their southern neighbors.
They have no legal standing, are deported...etc.
-
Know whatcha mean Sparks.. in the early 90's I looked into Australia.. they ain't taking anybody either. And I know several legal forigen nationals here.. all of 'em loopholed via marrige to stay here. All of them skilled... all were refused.
seems the only way to get in here is to be in line for 20 years, have a federaly bribed sponsor, or hump an an ugly american chick.
Of course, you could fast track over the rio grande and pick lettuce for a few weeks till you get yer green card.

So long as we have an unemployment problem in any field why should we allow immigrant workers in that field? Is there any other country in the world that does not look after it's own citizens first?

C'mon in Sparks... we'd be glad to have you.
Just slip over the border from Canada and disappear. You'll find work on airplanes somewhere. Maybe Bodhi will put you to work on warbirds. ;)
And.... in a few years... AMNESTY!
Oh, wait.. it's NOT amnesty. It's a "path to citizenship".
:rofl
Still, I think you'd be a good addition here.

LOL thanks Toad. I can see it now - the clatter of toolbox and wrenches hitting the ground the other side of the fence. Several days later standing next to a cardboard sign next to the runway hold at some airport, sponge and bucket in hand "Windsheilds cleaned $5". This might work ......

That's just 3 bricks that you'll need. Bush already has a brick between his ears.

Continuing to allow Mexicans to come and work here illegally by the millions artificially sustains the corrupt Mexican government with the billions these workers send home. What will happen in Mexico when that money dries up? Maybe a change for the better but a change for certain.

Apparently the US government calculated that you only needed 66,000 skilled workers this year so where the economic arguement for keeping 12 million non-skilled and others is beats the **** outa me
The govt. has almost doubled that number now.

Well actually the Poles are, since a month ago a new European law went into effect that allowed virtually unlimited foreign employment. In that sense we face (a portion of) the same issue. In essence those who were illegal immigrant workers are now legal employees who may come and go here at their own discretion.
My point is that only low-skilled work in construction and agriculture are taken by them, with the obvious exceptions that confirm the rule of course.
For more skilled work companies resort to outsourcing.
