So, to kill/live in p38 is depending full flaps and banking plane 45-90 degrees on deck!!!!
All out is for  landing, but landing is number one after take off to do in aeroplane, at least  if you cannot you may die:lol
Flaps are  airbrakes, specially when you take  all out. I would like to see your aces taking  any AH fighter plane in RL full flaps and bank 60deg using full power at 130mph having 300ft alt and pulling 4-6G.
