And to think, Lazs was chastised for mocking the mouse wielders, whom evolution is now weeding out.

At one point in beta, they'd said you'd have to have a stick to play, and that mice/touchpads wouldn't be supported. They caved, and that's good for you lot, but squealing about mouse control in a flight sim... tough to call that a priority. Just saying.

Just read the release notes.

"Using a mouse as a flight controller now requires you to hold down the left mouse button to make control inputs."

Seem like a fix to you lol.

I see your point HOF, but a lot of players in AH including myself still play with a mouse & if I wanted to play using a joystick I would like to choose to do it & not be forced to.

I have an X52, which I am warming up as we speak. But because I play a lot of FPS games the mouse will work so much better for me then A joy stick would !

The mouse is one of the easiest input devices to map, it may not be a priority to someone like yourself, but it would only take a jiffy to rectify & would make a lot of people happy.

P.S: Like I said before, It’s in HTC best interest to work something out. Do you think every newbie to the game has a joystick ? So do you think this might be a priority after all ?

I tried a mouse 1 time--it sucked.  Within 2 hours I had a $20 joystick from the nearest electronics store--I still sucked but at least the joystick worked :D

If you don't have a joystick, then why play a flight simulation game?

I always thought that a joystick was THE MOST important part and REQUIRED!

PuuuuuuLEASE!   HiTech, fix Kazaa's mouse.  I don't want to die at his hands using a STINKING joystick!   I've grown to revere his tried and true method of killing me.

Please, please, please don't handicap the Great and Powerful KAZAA!
Title: In!
Post by: Smiggyy on June 02, 2006, 03:10:50 AM
I'm a mouse flyer and ahev always been, find it easier to control the plane, more responsive and less "imposing" than a stick.

I own a stick and have been trying to get the hang of it offline for ages, but sometimes people just get set in their ways.

I'd never ridicule anyone for using a joystick, so its funny how people in here are quick to attack mousers for being different!

Anyway, u "sticks" are waaaay better than us cos u use a joystick so why whinge, we are, after all, merely another target/kill for you to pop!

It works for us and has been supported, and is now by the statment in the release notes but in a way that is completely impossible to manage.

Be nice to hear the reasoning behind this mod and also if anyone at HTC tried flying with it too.

Smiggy.

1) I respect the era with a passion and like many of you guys I had
    grandparents that served in WW2.

2) Many players are adamant that J-sticks are required to get you
anywhere in the game and are bemused to
hear that I fly with A HOMAK lol (Hands On Mouse And Keyboard ) It's  actually really nice setup.

Also many other players are really good with the mouse too.

AH has been mouse friendly since I started playing and  I guess many
years before that. So I guess it’s not the only input device you can use.

Well.... on the issue of mouse flying... and before everyone jumps me - i do have a joystick and i use it (and theres NO pun intended there).

Yes, even a cheap JS will give you more control then mouse (usually - this is no jab at you Kazaa, as has been said before, to each his own). But ive seen many people - not only eleven years old that downloaded the game without their parents knowing - in the TA that flew mouse on their first few days. Just to check out if they like the game before going ahead and buying a Joystick. I would like to know what i spend money for beforehand, too. For those people its even harder now to find some first day enjoyment to incite them to get addicted and stay.

Besides, i do not see any advantages to the new system. Except maybe less cries about "my mouse is broke, it doesnt move!!!". Theyll probably be replaced now with "my plane wont ******* turn"......

So id also like to see it changed back.

Actually I found remapping the analogs and view switches fairly painless.

Pity we cant map all 4 RPMs to one rotary or all 4 Throttles to the throttle........ or even combine the two.........but no biggie..........just something less than we had before ..............

I do not see what benefits have been made to the mission profiler........we cannot set altitude and MP guidelines now (not really missed IMO) but the loadout options are a pain to read........the text line is always longer than the window........a little more thought here would have been nice..... this aspect of mission building is one that is often prone to error and the GUI makes errors more likely IMO then previously.

I would have loved to option to add text uploads to missions both prior launch and at various way points............but we seem to have gone further away from this rather than closer to it.

Yeah sorry about that Tex, but you had that coming for trying to be a smart bellybutton !

I just don’t understand  the logic behind changing the mouse setup when it was great already.

And Tex, I did ask politely & in a constructive manner when the beta fourm was open for suggestions. The fact that we were totaly blanked was what made me so upset in the first point.

Kaz sorry about that.

Totally wrong mate, most important part of this game is having fun first and foremost and after yesterdays episode, that has been taken away from a  great many people.
I have asked umerous times why this feature was added, guess what? silence, Mouse users are consumers, Business changes to consumer demands, not the other way around, If I done that in my buisness, I'd be broke in months.
