Speaking of which, F4U-1C was perked because it surpassed 20% of sorties for a tour or 2, so, ? for Pyro, you plan to do this just for planes you choose or are you going to do this on a consistent basis? I'd be VERY curious to see the numbers for sorties flown after this tour.
-
Why you got dat La7 in there? :)

So an La7 pilot equates to be a new flyer? Jeepers I hope not. I was one of those La7's you saw.
-
LOL, who was the other? Mainly saw Spits and N1k's in that area...
-
Quit complaining Rip..you could be sitting around having to spend time with the wife like me!
My monitor went tango uniform 2 weeks ago and I would love too go against a dozen Nik's and 15 LA7's in a goon right now!!
On a positive note...the wife and I are having a great time. I might just quit AH forever.....

hehe, I'm not really sure. I don't pay much attention to most a/c types of the others except squaddies. Come to think of it, ribman (squad mate) was flying an La7 at 1 point.
You know, I think thats why I enjoy fighting the knights the most. They seem to fly more of a variety of aircraft than the bishops, at least from an enemy point of view. Rooks may or may not fly a variety, I'm not sure.
-
I dunno, I see a helluva lot of N1ks and Spits in Knitland too. I just want the developers to be consistent in their perk plane approach. Pyro stated that the Chog was perked due to its popularity, I would expect him to be consistent when another plane type is overused, though I'm not quite sure how to pull up stats on the tours for % of plane use, so before I complain about 'no consistency', I'd like to see the numbers first. :)
-
I was looking at some stats last night. The N1k is by far the most used plane. It was approaching 14,000 kills, the Spit IX was approaching 11,000, and the LA7 around 8,100.

-
Last I checked (a couple days ago), the N1K was being used less this tour than last (percentage wise). The P-51 was also being used more than the La-7.

yep against the knots there were mostly niks spits and lags but an occassional p47 or 190/109. The real way I could tell they weren't flabby ol vets tho was that they .... fought. There is lot's of action these days if you want it. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of bombers trying to spoil the fite also.
None of this can last of course but it is fun. As the new guys get better in the lags and niks we will see more people wanting to perk em.
another thing I noticed was the way newbies got on channel one and wanted to know why the Chog was perked... They all felt it was an ill handling dog.

Just a question. How are we determining the percentage of use. Is there a stat I don't know about? Number of kills won't be an accurate reference due to multiple kill sorties. Is there a stat that shows number of sorties for plane type?
-
Deaths were real close to kills on the three I mentioned earlier, but I cannot find anything that shows the exact number of sorties. Has anyone been able to find or calculate this?
trm
-
lol Rips, that's the same line of enemy plane I've seen most often in the air for the last ten months if not more.

Naw trim, if there is a way to look up sorties I haven't gotten it yet. I suppose one way to generalize it is to look at the deaths column- that is the absolute LEAST number of sorties that could have been flown in the plane.
And Deja is right, the P51 does appear to be getting more use than the LA7, which is rather interesting in my opinion. Want my opinion of why? Probably not, but I'll give it to you anyway. The influx of population, combined with the P51's historical appeal (to Americans anyway), is getting the plane more use. It will continue for maybe a month or two- 95% of the new P51 drivers will go over to the La7 or the N1K2. Of course, that also depends on how many actually stick with one plane, instead of trying them all out.
The N1K2 isn't doing that bad this month, but I'd be surprised if it broke 20k kills. It might next tour when the new players hear its reputation and decide to fly it. I think I've actually reached the point where I am not afraid to engage one. I still do it on my terms only, if possible, but I no longer see it as some sort of super plane. The Dora and the P51 (the two planes I've flown some this tour) really don't have anything to fear from that plane. Now it is the LA7 that makes me quake in fear :p.
It is sort of interesting to me how well I'm doing against N1K2's this tour- I think I'm around 10-1 vs them.
Oh, by the way- I personally can't tell who is a newbie and who is not merely by looking at the icons. I have to actually fly against them for a few seconds to find out. The N1K,N1K,N1K,N1K, spit, spit, spit, la7, la7 thing has been a pretty common breakdown for at least the past 3 months. This past month or so I've been noticing a lot more diversity though, not as much of that.

Perhaps it's just time to perk the perk system nad do away with it. Don't worry about what someone else chooses to fly. They don't make you fly what they want you to fly so just let it go and play YOUR game.
Perking planes/veh's to limit play is just telling those who don't have time, skills (yet) or even care to amass the points to get the "super duper"(TM) planes that they can't enjoy the game as they want.
Play your game and forget about the other guys freedom of choice, lest you lose YOUR freedom of choice. Right Chog fans??????

% of kills is easy to calculate. I take it a step further and break it down to fighter vs fighter kills. To be honest, I don't care what bomber pilots are seeing.
As a rule, things even out. You can argue "kills/sortie" and "Kills/death" all day... but if you see alot of N1K2s flying, they will be getting a larger pecentage of the kills.
There simply isn't a way to calculate the manner in wich the kills and deaths occured. N1K2s might be able to get multiple kills per sortie, but it is also one of the most commonly vulched planes (spawners) in the arena. How do you factor that in? An F4u-1C has the potential to vulch some 20 aircraft in a single sortie... how do you factor that in?
The truth is, the numbers are so high that you don't really have to. For ever experienced vet that gets 100 kills with no deaths in an aircraft, there are 20 people that went 0:5. For ever vulch session, there is a weighted spawning/victim session to accompany it. The only place where this factor is more prevelant is with lower usage planes... but then the low usage planes is not really why the numbers are being presented.

I vulched the same dweeb sucker who attempted to take off 3 times in a row in a Niki, then 3 times in the Spit, then tried to take off from the FH in a LA7 2 times, then got back in a Niki from 3 various runway. He finally gave up and insulted me on chanel 1.

Wrong again, my silver tongued friend. Co-alt fights, they were fun! Especially when that P38 had alt adv. on me and I got pieces of him ;)
We don't depend on alt like you, we depend on each other ;)

i have seen a lot more p38's and p51'a lately - a lot more and suddenly too - it's great! i have now gone from full fledged whining to just sorta muttering to myself.
it is still a n1k/spit/la7 arena by and large but at least one of those easymodes actually fought a lot in wwii and not just the last few months.
as long as people have an option like the n1k it'll be every 3rd plane you see like now - just like real life, people don't care HOW they win as long AS they win.
at least seeing all those 51's and 38's makes me think there are some enthusiasts around - got me smiling! :)

siple
give bonus perk pionts <2> if u fly dog planes like 202, 190 ,109, 51b p ,38, jug
coondition = use 75 % fuel and land :D if dead but fuel used more like 50 % = <0,5> perk
and dont wory they will go in batle
but still prefer the condition perks for flying ultimate uber planes
exaple only 109 F4, 109g6 ,190 a5 a8 perks
count to alove fly 262
people today dont have reason to fly plane what suxx only some hardcore lovers fly p 38 205 ..... 190
the rest will take ALWAYS the BEST plane to colmate hiz ACM
-
I disagree minus. Flying an "uber" plane, & I use that term loosely, does not mean one is inadequte at BCM.
The n1k turns well and accelerates like a demon, but overall is slow, so it has a weakness that a pilot has to overcome.
The La7 is fast OTD but has bad low speed handling and low ammo, so it has a weakness that a pilot has to compensate for.
The spit turns well & maintains energy very well but ummm, but....does the spit have a weakness? :)
-
darwin say something about evolution
:D
niki got the best canons in game
la7 so fast even pony is scared
spit the most versatile plane in AH
spit can kill you at 1 k to 35K
the global restriction on those planes are always just nr.1
niki speed slow when below you
la7 cant go high that tru but stil buzing at15 k and clips ? heh many plane got even lower ammo
spit u right damn nasty plane
;)
yea last thingy when you buying a boxed game you play it first in easy mode until get bored with game ? or use cheat codes ? :D
or will try the most dificult level ?

RIP, I guess you didn't read the line on my sig :D We have a French saying :"you don't teach the monkey how to make the face".
Sweeping in P47s using tactics and teamwork is not something you will teach to the 56th :D :D :D We were already doing it in 1.05, when the Jug was a flying coffin and vastly inpopular.
But we would be very interested on Vids on how you de-ack a field. :D

If it was the same engagement I saw (Drex alone in his 38 in a cloud of probably 8-10 nme)... man I was was laughing my arse off! I hadn't really seen Drex fly before, but wow what a clinic. He made y'all look like fools. :)
And Rip, a perk the niki thread?
-
Rip,
It may massage your ego to list the 20 planes you shot down in 1 sortie but if I was to tell you I had a 13.5" noodle and balls of steel I bet you'd be lost for words.

Yikes!! that aint the Frenchy in the 56th FG. We always finding him on the deck...scrambling and turnfighting his D30 :)

I will kill you all in my p51D.
Goodnight folks.

Incase ya haven't noticed, the NiK and La7 aren't perked as is the F4U-C. New flyers have no perkies to spend, and will prolly ask which plane easiest to get kills in. Nik and La7 as well as spit are good choices for someone new, and they require no perkies as does the F4U.
Just a thought

Sooooo...following this to its logical conclusion, eventually we wouldn't be able to fly/drive anything because take 1 and another becomes popular...take that 1 and another becomes popular....and so on.

Rip is still mad about the chog being perked ;)
I gotta say that I've found Knights to be the most fun to fight against - in my brief time as a rook, i primarily fought Knights. The simple reason: more varied set of enemies. Ran across the LW contigent and had some hairraising fights. Sure, there's plenty of N1K's and LA-7's, but the overall spread amongst planes was larger than in Rookland or Bishland.
-
cobra.. perhaps not. I am no fan of the idiotic perk system but... If one (or two) planes is twice as popular as the next 4-5 down the list then perking it/them will make all the planes pretty even in popularity or at least 4,5 or more pretty close. You will see a lot more variety but because you are saddled with and idiotic and unworkable "perk' system you will have an unfair and unfun arena.
We really do need to have either an "area" type arena or some form of RPS. the idiotic perk system is really starting to come unraveled and the arena is stuck in late war forever with no way to change because of it.
And drex is easy to kill... I get him killed all the time.

Chog perked due to its 4 hispano cannons. I predict the new Hurricane will go the same way. Neither plane has "uber" flying characteristics, its the guns that make them what they are. Every time I see anyone whining the Chog is perked I tell them the D-hog is not perked... if they cant get a kill in a D-hog, an identical plane except for guns, then these people have a serious problem.. addiction to snapshot-spray kills.
N1k has uber (ufolike) flying characteristics and very good guns with lotsa ammo. And who said the n1k was slow? Those things keep near 400mph almost all the time..and they GET to 400mph in a slight dive real quick. I will film a LOT when new version is out, if the n1k is fixed, these films will provide hours of entertainment (if the n1k finally gets drag AND torque in its FM, its gonna be a laughingstock when the dweebs try the old 15g flat turn and zoom up to hang on prop trick.. it wont work mwahahaa) *fingers crossed* dinnae let me down on this HT :D
Spits are great planes, but they do have their inherent weaknesses (zoom rate, climb rate, slow accel).
LA7.. monster engine and deadly in the hands of any mediocre->vet pilot. Very few weaknesses to exploit other than its ammo load and great speed and accel.
I too have noticed much more variety this tour. Heck, since the price reduction ive seen a LOT of P-38s, 205's and p47s. There are still an unholy amount of spits, n1ks and la7's (in any engagement they will be 70%+ of the population), but what can be done? Hope next patch fixes some plane's FM's and the new rides would add to the variety.
-
I want you people to stop talking about me :p Anyway, I'd be much much less concerned with a dweeb, like me, coming at ya in a spit than a veteran. :) As a dweeb I do like the spit. At this point you could give me an F16 and I doubt it would make any difference.
And it was nice to write home, and tell mama, I was a real pilet and had been fllllying! She was sad to hear I had died numerous times :( She did send me a long scarf and leather helmet which should help. But I can get a spit off the ground, which I understand is an important step. The bad part about getting off the ground is the scenery. I really enjoy flying around looking at the scenery (which is very nice). Very distracting too. I also like to go high and watch other people fight, very informative. Good news for the hanger mechanics is my trigger button should last a very looong time.
Looking forward to the fw190 and bf109 which were planes I always enjoyed reading about. LP
